Extra Virgin - Kansas City
We enjoyed a fabulous dinner for eight in a private dining room serving as a wine cellar. The food was diverse and delectable. The setting private and comfortable. And Ben’s service was impeccable. Overall a perfect evening!
Extra Virgin is one of our favorite places. The food is always excellent, and the entire staff is always very accommodating.
Excellent food and service. Awesome location too. The happy hour is great.
Good service and better food.
Just too loud.
Excellent waiter who knew and understood the menu. He was interactive without being intrusive or awkward. He kept us current on what was happening with our food, which was very good.
Had no idea what to expect but were pleased with our experience. (despite the fact we did a little research beforehand, it didn't quite click that this was a (daring and well executed) tapas restaurant.
Amazing start to finish! There’s two bites I’ll never forget... shrimp avocado tostada and chorizo fried rice. Unreal!
First time dining at Extra Virgin, I’ve always heard great things. My favorites were the chorizo fried rice and grilled bread with ricotta. All of our dishes came out quickly and were perfectly prepared. Service was fantastic, will definitely be back soon!
This was the first time my GF and I had dined here. And it was absolutely wonderful. To food was top notch. Our waitress, sorry i forgot her name, was outstanding. And this restaurant will now become a regular go to for dinner and drinks. The only area that I think could improve just slightly, is we sat at table by front window, and it was a little close to he bar seating, so with foot traffic back and forth our table was bumped on occasion. But our waitress even apologized for that with out either of us ever mentioning it. Also towards end of our visit as it was winding down inside, I believe it was one of the chefs even came by to make sure the dishes we ordered had exceeded our expectations which I didn't expect. Great staff, amazing food. The Ahi Tuna Ceviche and the Pork Belly Steamed Buns were over the top delicious.
My favorite restaurant in the Crossroads. Love the ambiance, wait staff and most of all the food. The octopus is the best in town and I also love the smoked beets. Fun to share food with all your guests.
I loved the menu, the small plates. The decor was snazzy. The service was attentive. Surprised it wasn't busy.
Excellent food and service. We had a party of 7 and the entire experience was top notch!
I love the portions, atmosphere when sat in the right section. The food is delicious and their menu gives you a chance to try multiple items.
Love the duck tongue tacos, chorizo fried rice, and empanadas!
We had dinner before theater. Our server was very good - she helped us get in a few orders before happy hour started, and helped us stay on time for the theater. We shared about 5 plates plus dessert - everything was delicious.
From our hostess to our server and bartender, the service was top-notch. Our cocktails and our small plates were unique and delicious. We definitely recommend spending time at Extra Virgin.
Love Extra Virgin. One of our favorite KC restaurants.
This is my favorite restaurant in Kansas City!!
The food was high quality and tasty but not extraordinary. Five tapas plus 3 glasses of wine was $90 - not including tip. Best thing was the shrimp/avocado tostadas.
Food not well described. Waiter got away as quickly as possible so no take back is requested.
Another good meal and service at Extra Virgin. Quality is consistent. This time for a birthday lunch. Our only disappointment was the Brussel Sprouts, which were not done enough for the word “charred.” Took them home and popped them in the oven for a while though, and they were delicious!
Our first time and we had a very good experience for our anniversary. Comfortable modern bistro vibe, great wine special on Monday that we were able to take advantage of, and our service was on point and professional. The chocolate, banana cake dessert although simple was probably one of the best desserts I've had in quite a while. We will definitely go back again.
We are always impressed with Extra Virgin - the food, ambience and Michaela-our waitress
Atmosphere not what you expect. I'm adventurous and will try new foods but with no descriptions on the menu we had to ask a lot of questions, would be easier if there were small brief descriptions like there would be at any other restaurant. Also food was bland and just not flavorful. Not sure what all the hype was about. If you want an app and a beer before doing something else this place is fine but would not go back for dinner. Server was great and table was ready on time.
Great food and service. Our waitress, Mchaela (sp) was a joy. Excellent experience!
We had a great experience! Good food to share. We had the private “wine” room so the noise level was low and it was so nice to have a conversation without raising our voices! Out in the main dining area, the noise level is quite high. Great time and highly recommend the restaurant and food.
Our experience at Extra Virgin was wonderful. The service was prompt and she thoroughly explained the set up of the menu and made great recommendations. Not only did the drinks have witty names, but they were also unique and delicious. Each dish we tried was flavorful and delicious.
"Consistent" is the key word. Ive been a few times and EV serves it up great everytime
Great date spot, delicious food/drinks, and awesome service.
Ben was AMAZING!
This is only the second time we've been to Extra Virgin, the last time was probably four years ago. We had a great culinary and service experience both times, which speaks to consistency in quality in a dramatic way. For our recent visit, we had a party of six, two of which were vegetarians, and every single one of us loved the food! Extra Virgin is perfect for a romantic date or a group celebration and we will certainly be returning.
The food is great. Try anything and be impressed, but definitely try the steamed buns.
Good birthday dinner
One of our favorite restaurants in KC! Always good food and service. The Thai drink was one of the best things I’ve had.
One of our favorite spots in KC. Food is great, wonderful drink and bar service. Cool vibe and great location.
I love restaurants that offer small plates so that you can taste a variety of the Chef's menu. We had a larger group of nine and shared everything! So much fun! Get there before 6:00 p.m. for Happy Hour which has a nice selection of half-price plates on the menu. Our service was outstanding! Parking can be a bit tricky, but the restaurant is literally right around the corner from a street car stop.
After coming for the third time, I think the novelty of Extra Virgin has worn off. The food is very much just okay — nothing that will sweep you off your feet and definitely not worth the full price. I guess with the few tapas places we have in KC we sometimes just have to settle with what we have, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back anytime soon. Maybe if the mood strikes, I might consider happy hour again. But I don’t have any immediate plans to return.
I must preface this review, with a winter weather advisory. There was a weather event (snow) during the duration of the meal. We were the only table in the restaurant. But the small plate entrees were excellent! Our waitress was very professional. She gave us wonderful suggestions. The entrees are small, keep that in mind.
I asked if the food was spicy, they said no, and it was very spicy. The portions were ridiculously small for the price.
Delicious, loved it! It's now my second favorite restaurant in the city.
