Exchange Street Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been waiting to try Exchange St for a while, solely on their extensive martini list. That list did not disappoint. We ordered our entrees from their special New Years Eve menu, both mine and my friend’s beef tenderloin was room temperature. Our server told us if we had any questions to let him know, but didn’t really do a great job tourguiding the menu. To us, it seemed like he was cut for the evening and just wanted us to leave. He dropped the check prematurely. It was New Year’s Eve so we totally got it, but atleast wait until we were done. Would absolutely come back, but maybe just for drinks and some apps or dessert.
The music levels were a bit too high for a business lunch. Service was terrific, both from the greeting hostess and a male server. Did not get their names, but both were spot on. The manager/owner greeted us and also thanked me as I departed. Very solid experience. Thank you.
Hadn’t been there in a few years, but decided to meet a group of friends for dinner. While the service was a bit slow, the food more than made up for the minor inconvenience.
My fish was cooked perfectly and paired with a fine mix of seasonal vegetables! Others in our party opted for Short Ribs, Lobster Mac ‘n Cheese, and the Rib Eye Steak. Not one disappointed diner in a rather tough crowd of critics.
Excellent value, good quality food, with a great martini menu! Will definitely be back soon.
We've eaten here many times before. Food and cocktails were very good as expected. The overall experience this particular night was disappointing. We were seated in a small side room, where a party of 20+ had also been seated. However, they really needed a separate room to mix and mingle, since it was more of a stand-up and talk party for them than a sit down dinner. It was too loud for the rest of us to have any conversation. Bar service was also slower than usual.
We had a party of 10. They accommodated us with a long table with bench seating on one side and chairs on the other. It was like we were in our own private room because of the way the table was situated up against a wall. The cocktails were extensive and good. The food was outstanding!
Went for the prix fixe 3-course dinner & it was delicious. There were 2 choices for each of a first course, entree & dessert, so my husband & I just ordered the whole menu & shared. Caprese salad or kale/bacon/white bean soup; scallops over risotto with greens or sirloin w/truffle mashed potatoes & asparagus; lemon panne cotta with raspberry coulis or tiramisu. We even came home with steak. Everything was cooked perfectly. My vodka martini was huge & perfect.
We were seated quickly, a waiter came over shortly after, took drink orders, returned with yummy bread & even yummier sweetened (honey?) butter & then our real waitress, Debbie, returned w/our cocktails & was pleasant & efficient throughout the rest of our our meal. We haven't been to Exchange Street in a number of years due to so many restaurant choices in the Boston metropolitan area, but we used to come often & even hosted our son's wedding rehearsal dinner there. They did an outstanding job of that event too. This is a consistently good choice of where to spend your dining dollars.
Made a reservation for 8 people for 6:30 PM. Some of us arrived early and they seated us right away. It was so nice not to have to wait to be seated until everyone was present as people came at all times. Try the Malden martini, (one of their signature Martinis, although all of them are good) and leave room for great food and dessert. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It had the perfect balance and blend of flavor, texture, and smell. Everyone in our party was happy with their food and drinks - the only trouble is, it's all so good that you'll just want more!
We have been regulars at Exchange Street Bistro for 6 to 7 years. The food is interesting
and tasty, the service is friendly and knowledgeable, and the martinis and other cocktails are fantastic.
I only gave it four out of five stars on this visit because we had a steak but I've had better at traditional high-end steakhouses. ESB does a great job with fish and vegetables. In general, it gets my highest recommendation.
