Very warm and cozy atmosphere with happy diligent and attentive staff.
The appetizer, lamb chops and deserts were the best flavors we’ve ever tasted.
Great service, friendly waiters. Food was authentic Greek cuisine. Bit more on the pricey side, but well worth it. Will definitely visit again. Great atmosphere.
Amazing food and great wine list! No specialty cocktails but they are happy to make recommendations. Order the octopus!
We arrived on time but our table wasn't ready, so they sat us in a location I didn't love (loud, near the kitchen). I asked for a little tzaziki on the side and I got a huge order which they charged for. While I like the food and generally the vibe, I think it's overpriced already so they could be a bit more accommodating about simple requests and make sure the location of a special occasion is nice.
Perfect in every way!
Fantastic service. Their lamb was absolutely exquisite. We had the lamb skewer and lamb chop and they were both perfect.
This was my first time, but I had a special time with my girl friend to celebrate her birth day. The staffs are very kind and I really liked the atmosphere inside the restaurant.
Every time I can, I come back to Evvia.
Definitely one of the best Mediterranean cuisines in the Bay Area.
The lamb riblets and the octopus are a must, to start.
But any of the fishes are just amazing.
The food was absolutely delicious! We got two different lamb dishes and both were excellent. Really enjoyed the Galaktoboureko for dessert as well. A little minus for the extra wait for our table; even with pre-made booking we ended up waiting almost 20 minutes for our table past the booking time. The food was definitely worth the wait, though!
There's a reason why it is so difficult to get a reservation for Evvia. It is fantastic. The servers treat you like they are happy you are there. They are personalable and friendly, but never in-your-face. When my sisters asked me what I'd like for my birthday, I said, "A gift certificate to Evvia." I'd rather celebrate there than get a new outfit.
I believe this restaurant is highly overrated and has gotten quite expensive for what it is.
Our two appetizers were fine but not unusual or special and both my glasses of red wine were blah and too warm. My friend had the special lamb dish which was a mess heaped on the plate with undistinguished sides. I had lamb meatballs and a side of "steamed vegetables" which were really either overcooked or raw. At least when I complained the wait staff took that off the bill. The dessert, custard filled phyllo with ice cream really was the only tasty item.
I won't return.
Delicious food! Great service! We will be back, if we can get another reservation ;)
Our visit on Wednesday, April 11th was due to friends giving us a gift certificate for there. Knowing it was a Greek restaurant we knew somewhat to expect... and that was met and then some! At our server Viktor's suggestion, we started with a glass of Hatzlyiannis Assytlko Santorini, a Greek white wine similar to chenin blanc in crisp acidity yet balanced with the right amount of fruit. It paired great with our baked feta appetizer with baked cherry tomatoes. For our main course, my wife chose the Moscharisa Brizola, a dry-aged ribeye grilled over mesquite and I chose the Arnisa Paidakia, rib-cut lamb chops also grilled over mesquite. We paired that with a bottle of Lazaradi Cava (Cab Franc) and what a meal! My wife is a ribeye aficionado and said this was the "best ever". My lamb chops were equally great, cooked just right with a wonderful flavor...I can't remember having better! It all paired up with the Cab Franc to make it a really great dining experience. To fin off, we had a Galaktoboureko (phyllo wrapped vanilla bean semolina custard with pistachio ice cream) and a Rizogalo (arborio rice pudding with spiced poached Mavrodaphne pear) and they were the perfect end to a wonderful meal...but I did have a Fernet Branca to cap the night off right! Viktor's suggestions were spot on throughout the night and his service was impeccable...very friendly and knowledgeable of everything in the restaurant. You mus make reservations as they open for dinner at 5:30 and were full by 6:15...very popular and for good reason! Efharisto...Ghia Sas!!!
Always visit Evvia when we come to Palo Alto from Sydney Australia. Great staff great food great atmosphere... we love it and recommend to all our friends
Fabulous! Lamb rotisserie was terrific! Miussaka was super hot but also great!
The experience was excellent and we highly recommend it.
Reliably brilliant. Expensive, but not outrageous. Fresh, delicious food served lovely staff.
My wife and I have been coming here for the last 13 years, every time we come in it’s a special treat and the food is amazing, we will be back again soon
Great service and wonderful food. One of our favorite restaurants which is consistently delicious.
We were happily greeted and seated immediately. They were very accommodating, engaging and a joy to interact with. The food was excellent! The lamb was succulent, tender and not gamey. Our wait-staff was attentive, knowledgeable and engaging. We had an absolutely wonderful meal, received excellent service and had a great evening.
Great as always!!
Great birthday lunch
AMAZING all around!
Food excellent and service very good. Course pacing needs to improve. Soup should not be served before appetizers completed..
I wanted to like this place. I wanted to justify the cost of this dinner. However, the overall experience was just okay. Sevice was good the wine was great. But everything else was overrated; food was way overpriced. Maybe we just didn’t get the right things. Not sure I’d want to come back to give it another chance.
This place does not disappoint!
The food , ambience and service are top notch..
Try oktopadaki, lamb chops or branzino
Oh , they also have extensive wine list , try some Greek wine
Evvia doesn't disappoint. The food quality is very consistent. everything else is delicious. I would highly recommend it.
Table service was excellent. Execution of foods were on point. will be back again...and again...
I've been there many times and I've never been disappointed. I think it is the best restaurant in the Palo Alto Area. Service is always very good. This is a very popular restaurant so make reservations well in advance.
Perfect from start to finish!
There were 4 of us and it was one of my employees Birthday. I had read about it online and it seemed like a hot spot to go with great reviews. Everyone but me got the lamb or chicken skewers. I got the petrole sole and it was disappointing, the others loved their food. Even the Swiss chard they served with the fish entree was bland, the fish was bland, and texture mushy. They took it away and didn't charge and I chose the salad thinking it was a safe and quick replacement. That was also disappointing, the dressing was way too tart. So I spent $229.00 on my dime and didn't have a great experience.
Excellent meal and service. The octopus was amazing my favorite dish. Our waiter gave us great recommendations along the way.
So to qualify this comment let me say first that I lived the first 20 years of my life in Greece. I am slightly shocked to have had the best Greek 'Taverna' food I have ever had in my life, in Palo Alto. Excellent food and wine, while managing to remain 100% authentic in taste, I am not even sure how they do while being based in the US.
Since the portions are usually large for us, my wife and I shared the soup, main dish and the dessert.
Our waiter recommended chickpea soup and rotisserie lamb. Both of these dishes were not on the menu. They were great.
Food was delicious! Excellent service. Place is usually full -- but service did not suffer. Waiter made excellent recommendations. Definitely a must-try restaurant.
We love Avvia, food is delicious and good service too!!!
The food was great. The service was good but price was too high. My friend and I each paid $90 including tax and tips. The price point is equivalent to a 1 Michelin’s star restaurant. But I don’t think the overall experience is on par with restaurants at that level...
Everything was perfect! The General Manager Panos is the best. He is a real asset to the restaurant.
This was my second time at Evvia, although the first time for dinner. The food is unquestionably good but overpriced for what you get. I was startled when, upon ordering a premium vodka from the very nice bar, I was told they do not stock that brand and so I had to pick a substitute. I find this inexcusable in a restaurant of this caliber. The complementary bread and olive oil were delicious and my friend and I agreed it was the best olive oil we ever tasted. I wish I could have bought a bottle. We each ordered an appetizer, entree, and glass of wine. My kabob of artichoke and eggplant was tasty but I would have enjoyed it more had the pieces of eggplant been smaller. The mousakka was delicious. Being unfamiliar with their mostly Greek wine list, our server made a suggestion for a red similar to Merlot. It was adequate but not up to my standards. I think they should add some domestic labels to their menu. The server was friendly and attentive, the ambiance lovely but surprisingly noisy for a Monday early dinner. I had indicated on Open Table that we were observing a birthday. I must admit I was disappointed when no complementary dessert or apperetif arrived. The night before I had been at a far more modest establishment and was presented with a dessert by the owner herself. Overall I think Evvia is excellent. I do, however, prefer their lunch menu.
I simply love this restaurant. It's always super busy. Making a reservation can be a challenge unless you want to eat very late.
Food is phenomenal. I always get the grilled Bronzino. So flavorful. I had " the Evvia salad" as my appetizer.
My husband had the roasted beet salad. Both very good but the beets definitely the winner of the two. For dessert we had the Greek yogurt with honey and dates. You want to share it but it's really delicious.
Food is relatively expensive but you leave the restaurant satisfied. We keep coming back.
