Sister restaurant of Kokkari, Evvia has been serving beautiful and elegant Greek cuisine since 1995. Fabulous fish, savory roasted meats, and sun-soaked vegetables are jazzed up with a spritz of lemon, a little olive oil, and herbs. There is perfection in simplicity.

Evvia Ratings and Reviews
Stellar as usual, not one thing could have been better, even though my waiter mistook my ordering one of each kind of rose for giving me and my friend two of each, we both decided that was an excellent way to do it and didn't correct him. I could eat a pound of those dolmathes, omg. MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE PENINSULA.
Evvia's game has slipped a little, at least for an ordinary business lunch on a recent Thursday. The house was not full, yet the kitchen was extremely slow. Drinks, mains (no starters) and desserts with coffee, for a party of 3, stretched fully two hours. Headed to the restroom, I noticed the "pass" loaded with cooked plates, just sitting there waiting for runners or servers. Too few servers for the room, basically. As for food quality, yes it's good Greek, but so is Opa!, at half the price. Years in, Evvia seems to be a place to be seen, not to be dazzled.
Appealing, rustic and comfortable decor. Pleasant with windows/doors open to sidewalk on a beautiful day. Bustling atmosphere with interesting clientele and plenty of staff.
Lunches were good (lamb meatballs appetizer tasted a little old) with ample portions, service adequate, but considering everything, a bit over priced.
May return if in the area.
Well, I have been to Evvia many times in the past, and usually have never been disappointed. This time however, our experience was not quite what I remembered. First of, I had requested a table by the window, since this was a special occasion (a birthday; which by the way nobody asked us about either). When we got there, early, it wasn't yet crowded, there were several open tables by the window, but we were told that those were only for parties of at least four. Ok, understandable, there were only two of us. But then we saw a couple that was seated by the window. When my companion asked the hostess about them, she was told "that sometimes happens." What kind of an answer is that? Either you have a policy or you don't. Considering that I made reservations over three weeks ago with that special request? Bad answer, and badly handled by the hostess.
Now to the food. As an appetizer we ordered a mezze platter, which was outstanding as always. Their tzatziki is par none; the best we've had anywhere. My dinner companion ordered the halibut, and she was happy with the fish as well. I ordered my go-to, the Moussaka. How could I go wrong? It was definitely not how it used to be. The meat was somewhat grainy, and the eggplant was hard and didn't have that wonderful roasted flavor. Very disappointing. This was such a lovely dish in the past. Not sure if they changed their recipe or cook, but it was not up to par.
All in all, I would still go back, but I will dial down my expectations next time. I was very exited to visit Evvia again and have raved to many people about this restaurant, because in the past I have always enjoyed eating there (who can forget that wonderful goat stew? So delicious.). Unfortunately, that was not my experience this time. I surprised myself by rating Evvia only "good", when I always thought it rated excellent, but I guess, nothing stays the same.
Excellent and authentic Greek food. The Branzino (expensive!) was excellent as was the bahklava for dessert. Excellent wine list. The lamb riblets on the starter menu were too fatty and I would not order them again. This is a Palo Alto stalwart and for good reason.
Excellent Greek cuisine with an excellent set of selections on the menu. Where else can you see the lamb for the evening put on the rotisserie over the charcoal fire? A bit expensive but the combination of great tastes and truly superlative service makes it a good choice. One can have an exceptional meal just from the appetizers alone. For Palo Alto, parking was actually not a problem! Although we live 200 miles away, whenever we are in the area, this is our choice for lunch or dinner.
I selected this restaurant to celebrate my boyfriends birthday however we were disappointed. I called asking for a special table which I know is not always possible. We were sat at a noisy table in the center of room and we unfortunately had to yell to speak to each other. It was a busy Saturday night at 9pm and the restaurant was slammed so I get it. The waiter always seemed very rushed which didn't really allow us to enjoy ourselves. The food was great. No complaints. As we were waiting for the bill the server brought out (what we thought was a complimentary) birthday dessert which was very nice! However when the bill came we found we were charged for a birthday dessert that we didn't order. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
This was my first meal at Evvia and it was fantastic! My husband and I went for a late lunch date and ended up having a feast -- lamb riblets, artichoke souvlaki, greek salad and whole branzino. I was a little worried we had ordered too much food, but each dish was really delicious, especially the lamb riblets. I normally do not like lamb, but tried one and was hooked. We ate everything! And amazingly, did not feel overstuffed afterward, though neither of us needed to eat dinner that night. The service was also excellent: attentive, friendly, professional. Evvia is pricey, but I definitely feel like it was money well spent. I look forward to many more meals here!
When we first arrived (early) we were greeted by friendliness and a welcoming manager. A very important aspect of our visit was the ample parking nearby. Although I did not give the restaurant all five stars, I do believe the outstanding service by Sam and other staff gives the restaurant a five star recommendation, and the food was prepared exactly as I had requested and expected. I have already recommended this place to several of our friends.
My husband and I go here as often as we can. It's very difficult to get reservation no matter weekday. We often just go early or late without reservation and more often than not they can accommodate us.
We love their griled octopus which we often share. Their grilled branzino is to die for. Skin is crisp and slightly charred You just have to eat it. You get that with a side of seasonal greens ( more healthy than delicious. But OK). Their home made you hurt or their baklava. OMG!
Service is always in top. It is one of my absolutely favorite restaurants in PA.
The best place to have lunch in Palo Alto!
Delicious food, great service, wonderful ambience! It's especially nice in the winter if you sit near the fire. I love the grilled octopus, lamb meatballs, roasted prawns as starters followed by their baked whole sea bass and Greek yogurt with dates and walnuts for dessert. Book ahead to get a reservation.
