Original menu that never fails to delight!
We had not been to EVOO in some time and were thrilled to see that it was still the stand out it's always been. I could be buried in the chinese box and everything else was superb as well - especially our server. Thanks!
Love that Chinese Box!!!! The parsnip Soup was also off the charts!!!
We will be back soon!!
My valentine and I were catered to PERFECTLY throughout our first experience at EVOO. Our server (I think his name was Tim or Frank?), the restaurant, and especially Kristen Smith provided us with the exact atmosphere that we were hoping for, catering to our every need (including combining the gnocchi and duck sausage + confit entres-slight up-charge, but WORTH IT!). I have written maybe 3 restaurant reviews in my life thus far, but I felt the need to take the time to thank the EVOO team for helping to create one of the most incredible dining experiences of my life, and though I don't relish the idea of not being able to book a table at a place I so thoroughly enjoyed, it's definitely worth the risk to tout their awesomeness.
Really good food! and fun service. Recommend for special occasions and romantic dinners.
We heard that Evoo had great food but we were pleasantly surprised to find just how wonderful it is. Perfectly sized portions so we could enjoy all the courses. Our server was a seasoned professional who took care of our every need.
Like EVOO we are celebrating 20 years in Cambridge. I was happy to find the familiar quality experience while enjoying the creativity of there Valentine’s Day set menu.
Valentine Day with my Sweetie
Great choices for dinner, and good wine selection.
The staff is very warm and welcoming.
The special oyster appetizer is “to die for”.
Every dish is given special attention with amazing presentation by an “army” of dedicated, commuted chefs. Their wine pairings are carefully chosen by Dan
And are a great addition to the meal. Highly recommend for special occasions, or a night on the town.
Service was good but the main meal was average and unfortunately cold when served. Dessert was awesome however. Best bread pudding.
The appetizers and dinners were great. The staff was very friendly. Parking was only $3 with voucher! It was out first visit, and we’d certainly go again.
The food was good and it came out in a timely manner. I was the host of the party and the waiter didn’t ask if I was going to drink anything. It would have been better if the waiter had more energy and was more engaging... maybe he was respecting our business meeting.
Very fresh food and comfortable atmosphere. We were recommended EVOO by a good foodie friend and I'll recommend this to our friends as well. We'll be back!
There were six of us. We all loved it I never leave reviews but this restaurant was so delicious and our server Eileen was so wonderful (and a party of six isn’t he easiest group to manage), and patient and accommodating, funny and kind. You can’t beat the price, the portions were so generous and absolutely everything we ate was fabulous. My new favorite place. Outstanding menu - outstanding everything
I called ahead to ask for a birthday candle to be put on the dessert. I reiterated that it was important. Cake came out with no candle. Told our waitress (who was very nice) and she said “sorry”. Told the desk person on the way out and asked if it had been written down on our reservation. Got another “sorry”. In all the years of celebrations at restaurants, this had never happened before. Called the manager today. Got my third “sorry”
Food was very good but not notably so. Very expensive. Won’t be going back. Too many great choices these days to go back there.
Not an overly large menu but enough tasty options. Parsnip soup was outstanding and the baked Haddock was cooked perfectly in a delightful sweet potato sauce. The staff was friendly and the service was good. It’s a little pricey but I’d go back it’s that good.
Eclectic menu. Knowledgeable and welcoming staff, clean.
The fish curry was excellent and the staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We love coming to EVOO and it will continue to be a regular outing for us.
The sweet potato pie was a standout. The pig's head was tasty, with a perfectly crisp coating which went divinely with the poached egg. The fettucine was okay but not my favorite. The server was very friendly and helpful. The staff is exceptional at this restaurant.
Slow service for business lunch
4 people, 3 smalls, 2 large. Left full not stuffed. Loved trying new things. Smelt, olives & pecans, beef tartar, pigs head and tenderloin. All delicious
Good service and great food. Would recommend the Chinese Box. Plan on returning soon.
I have been going to this neighborhood gem for more than a decade, first when it was on Beacon Street and now at its location in Kendall Square and it never fails to surprise and impress me. I usually have the Chinese Box, a delectable tower of mustard shrimp, Hoisin beef, cashews, cole slaw, broccoli and rice layered and turned out from its Chinese take-out box so the sauces seep through its layers, but this time I also had a roasted pumpkin with a mole and cabbage slaw that was perfectly balanced between heat and spice. The duck confit salad is a favorite too. The ambiance is modern--stainless semi-open kitchen and wood tables. It can get loud but there are quieter spots so request one if you want conversation. We arrived at 5 and by the time we left, it was full.
The place feels a bit dated but is nice and lowkey for a networking dinner. We ended up with only 6 of our 7 guests showing, which I mentioned a few times but the extra place setting was never taken away which was a little odd. We were not asked if we wanted another round of drinks. But we were speedily brought our one late order for our late guest, and they happily split the bill six ways. They did not rush us and gave us space to chat. The food was just ok but something for everyone, and various price points.
We had the rabit confit, haddock and filet mignon.
I'm quite a foodie, and everything was amazing and prepared perfectly.
As ever, EVOO was a great experience. The good remains inventive and delicious, the service warn and attentive, the atmosphere just the right balance of formal and friendly.
Host was very accommodating during the booking experience to our large 10 person group.
Fresh ingredients, locally sourced and artfully prepared. The Executive Chef, Peter, is an artist at blending complimentary flavors. The staff are all long term employees which says a lot for how they are treated and how they treat the guests. Great wines as well. We got a surprise desert to celebrate our anniversary. Coleen, wife of the Executive Chef, runs the back of the house and does so very well.
This was a great dinner location. People familiar with Cambridge restaurants will appreciate the home and family ambiance, and will certainly enjoy the great food!
There are very few fine dining restaurants in Cambridge that can handle reservations for 10 people on a Friday night with as much grace and ease as Evoo. We shared a large room with another party of 10 and when that other party finished we had the room to ourselves. We could carry on conversations with everyone at the table. And the food was outstanding. My husband and I shared the tenderloin and the smoked salmon. The tenderloin was as mouth watering as you'd expect but, as far as I was concerned, I hated parting with any of the smoked salmon.
We had all been to the old Evoo a number of times. There 3 of us. Two of us thought that the menu while small had good options - but the third did not. He wanted a larger menu.
A great place, rediscovered! Shame on me - my wife and I last visited EVOO at it's former location, and they had moved 7 years ago. Really glad a school chum suggested it for our evening starting with business and then having spouses join to hang out. I arrived early and wasn't sure why the app forced me to select 15 min later than I wanted, since it was only lightly patronized at the beginning. Anyway, I started with a drink - Catcher in the Rye - which the waiter told me would be delicious. It was. It also packed a HUGE punch. Wine list was thoughtful; we went with an Argentine Malbec.
My chum ordered the Corncob Smoked Bluefish Fillet with Grilled Zucchini, Sweet Corn Risotto and Tomato – Basil Relish ($29) which completely disappeared from her plate. Maybe I wasn't looking when she licked it clean? Obviously a hit. My wife and I ordered the Chinese Box. While the initial presentation was whimsical, the contents, though tasty, felt a bit like hashed kitchen left-overs. It wasn't, of course, but once the initial presentation deconstructs, you are left with a plate with no distinguishable destinations. Sigh. That all said, the wine was a perfect pairing given the shrimp and Hoisin Braised Beef and Gingered Vegetable in "the box".
The atmosphere and waitstaff were warm and not overly attentive. To/from the bathroom, I noted lots of little cubbies and nooks for intimate parties or sitting at the bar. We were definitely long overdue in being EVOO patrons, and we mean to make up for lost time.
Food was excellent, served quickly and was very delicious and filling.
Overall we were disappointed with this restaurant based on prior positive reviews. Service was efficient, not friendly. The food was OK but not worth another visit.
Evoo was a spur of the moment date for me and my husband. What a wonderful surprise it turned out to be! Highly recommend the buzz buzz buzz beverage and the rabbit confit.
Delicious food. Drinks were great but need better presentation
It was busy in Boston and we had a larger group. I used open table and this was one of the few places that could seat eight at our desired time. We lucked out! It is a farm to table concept with great options and delicious choices! Three of our party chose the prix fixe menu and enjoyed all three courses. The serve was friendly and helpful. I will return on our next visit to Boston!
High price low service
How is this place still open?
