Went to EVOO after proposing to my fiancé and they were incredible. They went above and beyond to make our night special, and we will certainly be going back 😊
I was at EVOO for a dinner meeting and loved the food, as well as the service, during that evening. I spoke with the manager to express how wonderful it was and she mentioned that the restaurant periodically has a prix fixe menu with a wine pairing. Just a few days later I made reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday and was remembered and greeted by her. The service is incredibly personal. Now for the food: We had the smoked bluefish entré with corn risotto, small wheels of roasted zucchini, and a relish of fresh nectarines. WONDERFUL. My husband ordered a salad and was enjoying it when the waiter came to our table, carrying a salad and telling us that the salad delivered was not what my husband ordered. The "correct" salad was offered to us to take home. Totally unnecessary, but again very impressive. I had roasted broccoli, listed as a "side," for a starter. It came with a savory, cheesy topping not listed on the menu, but completely delicious. For dessert we shared the summer berry-peach crisp with sour cream ice cream. For those not needing chocolate, this is a perfect dessert to end a delicious meal. Thank you, Kristen and staff, for a memorable dining experience. We will return soon!
The Chinese Box entree is fabulous, my favorite on the menu. My companion had the sous vide chicken and loved it. Also loved the bread sticks and olive oil/bean dip.
It was great
Very positive overall. I had the Chinese Box, which is sort of a signature dish for EVOO. It was delicious- the “lunch “ size, which is 16 oz, is plenty - I can’t imagine who eats the larger size. The entree and appetizer (pâté) were attractively presented. The service was a bit slow at times, but I’ve seen worse.
We have had dinner at Evoo before. We liked a lot because of their creativity and Asian influence of American cuisines. This time, we came back for Dine Out Boston. However, something was not perfect. Their signature appetizer, white bean paste, was not as tasty as before. While my wife's orders, gazpacho and slow cooked chicken breast, were hit, my orders, lettuce and blue fish, were mediocre. Maybe because I had too much expectation, I was little disappointed because of less creativity. By the time of dessert, we were quite full, so we could not finish our desserts. Our major concern is the restaurant being quiet despite Friday evening. We will come back for another dinning soon.
A friend and I had a truly wonderful dinner at EVOO where the menu is imaginative, the ingredients fresh as can be, and the service attentive, friendly and non-intrusive. The decor is not fussy, the lighting is good and the ambience low-key. This restaurant lets its food speak for itself and it's a great spokesman.
EVOO always makes an effort, even for Diners Out. The menu was delicious; the service, perfect. Their dinner brightened a rainy day for us and five friends.
Nice food, nice environment. They offer gluten-free options.
Went for dine out Boston, great food and drinks and service!
We checked the Restaurant week menu prior to going to the restaurant, but apparently it was wrong as when we got there we were told some of the options that were available on the website were not included. Additionally it took a while for the food to arrive even though the restaurant was empty, and when it did the courses were not very well planned: I was still eating my main when they brought me my dessert, the ice cream melted before I could get to it, some people were eating mains while others got their desserts... Otherwise the food was not bad.
The service was very slow. It took for our group of 8 over 45 minutes to get their main course. Two in the party were given the wrong item.
My husband and I visited for Dine Out week. We both choose different items off the menu. I had the eggplant main dish and it was incredible. hands down one of the best meals I have ever had. My husband had the fish and it was not impressive (particularly in comparison to the eggplant). The drink pairing with each course was also quite a nice treat and something we haven't seen at other restaurants. Our waitress was wonderful and accommodating. We will be returning with friends! Thanks for the lovely time.
I’ve always enjoyed EVOO but have not been there since leaving my former employer Genzyme. I liked the old location better but the food retains much of it’s quality. Lots of local customers so it can be a busy place. Was quiet because of the summer.
They reacted so nicely from reservation and its modification. And my guest certainly had great time.
Staff is amazing and the appetizers were great! My husband and I both had the tenderloin. We were celebrating his birthday. We both had the same reaction too salty:( my daughter had the spaghetti and it wasn’t what she expected, other than that overall very good.
A meal at EVOO is a totally satisfying experience. Splendid dishes crafted in many cases from locally sourced food.
Still fine, but quality has slipped. This is a fine place for a casual but farm to table meal. Yet the flavors don’t pop as they used to, the part on not too fresh carbs is higher and fresh tasting vegetables less pronounced. Sadly this won’t be my go to place in Kendall Square anymore. I hope the menu perks up.
Fresh food, well prepared in a perfect environment for lunch, whether business or social. The blue cod was very good. The burrata was out of this world.
EVOO is reliably wonderful, year round. We have enjoyed lunch and dinner here for many years because the food, wine, and dessert are delicious and the service is excellent.
awesome as always!
Our go to place! Limited menu but always good food. It was a quiet Saturday night and we enjoyed our friends and meals without feeling the least bit rushed.
I was not really impressed by the food. Does not really cater to pescatarians, nothing for starters, only a cod for main and that was only mmmph.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. The service was great. The wine and menu were nicely complementary with a thoughtful options for consideration.
Good food, unique but small menu. Services was excellent, a good place for lunch in Cambridge.
The service was very good and friendly. My salad was supposed to have tofu but it was hard to find. The salad over all was very good.
We had a celebration dinner here on Friday night. I was surprised that the restaurant was not more crowded. This is my first time at this location. I thought the food was good, not outstanding. It is very attractive and good service with attentive staff. My husband had the Chinese box which was excellent. Other dishes were pretty good as well. Price is standard for this type of restaurant. I would return.
Thanks for coming in Becky. As you noted weekend business overall in Kendall Square is still developing- lots of daytime biotech, tech, and MIT guests, but no theater or event space to draw on the weekends. As a positive, Friday and Saturday nights are a great time to come in. Space is usually available and we offer a $42 three-course prix fixe menu in addition to our regular menu. We hope to see you again any time you'd like to come in. -Steve K. GM/ Partner
Very good service and creative dishes with lots of Asian influence. Braised beef ball with cheddar cheese was Must Try.
We had a wonderful meal. Particularly liked the farm to table offerings. There is a big difference among seating options so best to say what your preference is when making your reservation.
Service excellent from the moment we entered the restaurant. Food - appetizer, main course and dessert very good. Excellent wine recommendations. Prices very reasonable for the quality. A favorite restaurant that continues to earn our loyalty.
These were the best scallops I ever had! My boyfriend had the whole red snapper prepared great and so very fresh. Delicious!
Second time here. Still consistent with great service, fresh innovative delicious food. Highly recommend a visit here.
The food was great, carefully prepared with fresh, local ingredients, and it tasted very good. The service was accurate. I would recommend this place for any occasion. I will certainly go back there the next time I’m in Boston.
Truly a fantastic find! Great, local food. Innovative dishes and presentation. Wonderful experience and what incredible combinations of flavors!
We missed the energetic feel to the place we experienced on visits 3 or 4 years ago. While the food was OK, it lacked the WOW factor we remember....no excitement. I worry that EVOO is maybe not doing so well now; we got a reservation 3 hours before on a Saturday night with no trouble. Service was excellent, as before. But sitting at a high top table where we could see the "kitchen"...the three cooks looked a bit bored
and were standing around waiting for orders. BTW, the owners are great people, we know them from their sister eatery, ZA....Cambridge and Arlington.
Hi We'd love to be busier on Saturday night as well. In Kendall Square, there is not much weekend attraction other than the restaurants and still not enough of a resident base. We do offer a weekend prix fixe menu to encourage weekend business. The Volpe and Constellation Center Proects will help enliven the area. Thanks for continuing to come to EVOO and we hope to see you on whichever night you'd like to dine with us.
Everything was excellent. We had burger, cod and chicken dinners as well as steak tartare appetizers.
Great waiter very knowledgeable on menu and beers
The atmosphere is energetic and the food is excellent. EVOO knows how to put flavors together so they work well. The baked Blue Cod is fantastic. And something as common a latte' at EVOO is an experience! It was a masterpiece of flavors blended to provide the perfect accompaniment to the outstanding Parsnip Cake with Sticky Toffee Sauce and Prune – Armagnac Ice Cream. Just WOW!
Our server was so efficient and kind. We loved the food!!
We got there around 8:30, asked to sit where we could see the NCAA finals and eat the full menu at the same time and were seated at the bar. The barman wasn't terribly interested in serving us -- he was busy cleaning things although it seemed a bit early for that -- it took many attempts to get him to get our courses on the move. The food and wine were okay but the tab was high for what we ate and especially what we experienced.
Best quality ingredients, best tasting food, best staff, best everything!! So much flavor and thought put into each dish.
