Maine's micro seasons enable our Chefs to play. For you, this means they are always coming up with new dishes and creative ways of preparing the Maine foods you know and love. Immerse yourself in this experience at our open kitchen while the Chefs strive to wow your senses.

Evo's dishes are meant to be shared. Modeled after mezze - groups of small dishes that are meant to be enjoyed together - you're encouraged to order a variety of shareable plates. If you're not into sharing, our menu has you covered too.

Thanks to our farmers and purveyors, the food in our kitchen is the freshest you can get. We require a credit card to reserve a table. Our cancellation policy is $25 per person if cancelled within 24 hrs of your scheduled reservation.

This is our favorite restaurant in Portland and has been for quite some time. Chef Matt Ginn is a true professional and holds himself to a superior standard. This shows from start to finish through your experience at Evo. Do yourself a favor and put this on a must try list.

Our favorite place to eat in Portland. The food is interesting, special, and oh so good! We drive 1 1/2 hours for the chick pea fries! Kids and mom all agree - outstanding.

My wife and I had one of the finest dining experiences we've ever had.
We selected the tasting menu. We had some dietary restrictions. Not only did they work to accommodate us, they worked to impress us. The meal was a delight, as good as we've had in restaurants costing three times as much.
We had a truly memorial evening.

Love this place!! Great food, cool vibe. If you want a more mellow intimate vibe reserve a table upstairs. If you want to be in more of the action eat downstairs.

Very cute and quaint. Great service. Amazing dishes with a great variety. My husband and I are every bite. Service was very sweet. Great after dinner cordial and wine list. Dessert is a must. Would come back.

Meeting a friend for a fabulous meal and catching up on our lives. I love the medium plates, the creative dishes, sauces, and presentations. I found the wait help knowledgeable and always restated the plates content when they brought it. Love glass and being able to look out over the Old Port. I do find it pricey and would like to see cost lowered and more affordable! All in all, I will come back but often because of cost.

The food was exquisite, my friend and I sat at the bar and ordered the Chef's tasting for 75 dollars each person. The meal consisted of 8 courses over a period of 3 hours. We were able to chat a bit with the chefs regarding the food, while we watched the kitchen work. This food is some of the best I have had in years. The kitchen was more than willing to work around some dietary restrictions my friend had, as the kitchen was more than willing to accommodate her. The dining experience is what it should be no need to rush. It provides the ability to have great dinner conversation while enjoying amazing food. The waitstaff was brilliant and was very good at checking on the pace food was coming out and providing any assistance we desired. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys exceptional food and enjoys the process along with the experience of dining to eat at this restaurant. I would add that it is beneficial to reserve a table. If you do show up early they can potentially move you around and accommodate you.

We had the vegan tasting menu. While the food was very good, 5 plates came out all at once overcrowding our small table. It felt very rushed, not the relaxing meal we were hoping for.

EVO never disappoints. There isn’t a bad seat in the house. People-watch at a window seat or watch the magic happen in the open kitchen. The staff is wonderful-friendly without being cloying, knowledgeable and concerned with making your dining experience a great one. And, of course, creative, fresh, innovative offerings on a never-boring menu. A real gem!!

Special visit for my wife’s birthday. Each cocktail at the bar was unique and prepared with consideration. Our dinner was upstairs. Quaint atmosphere. Great service and experience meals.

My boyfriend and I went to Evo on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is small and we were seated at counter seating looking out onto the street. We found the way the counters were set up - staggered - made it feel like we were sitting at our own table. Our waitress was great and gave us some amazing suggestions. Overall, food and drink were spectacular and we plan on dining at Evo again!

We thoroughly enjoyed the vegetarian tasting menu. The carrot salad with goat cheese was a highlight. Also, the dessert ice cream sandwich was probably the most tasty ice cream dish I have ever eaten. Yum.

Those carrots!! Everything we had was delicious (and gluten free!).... carrots, hummus, lamb, falafel, tuna and some delicious dessert. Waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the wines . Great experience, would come back to Portland for those carrots.

EVO was a fun surprise on restaurant week. The food arrived from very good to excellent!

We joked that my wife was batting 3 for 3 all wonderful dishes! My scallop dish was good but nothing special. The lamb was wonderful as well as my chocolate/hazelnut/banana dessert!

We had a lovely meal and the nicest server I think we have EVER had when dining out. The hostess was also very friendly and checked to see how we were doing and chatted with us before we left. Would highly recommend!

Very nice, menu was a bit limited and I had a chicken with tomato basil as a meat dish , bland and uninspired however I had a sweet potato dish that was fantastic. My wife had a cauliflower dish, tuna and duck all of which was delicious.

We came for dinner during restaurant week and loved our experience. The food was delicious and unique in all the best ways. We’re very picky fish eaters and the tuna and scallops were outstanding.
We can’t wait to go back!

A unique menu with a melange of offerings. Vegetarian fish or meat all complimented with incredible spices and flavors. Some dishes definitely on the spicy side but perfect for one who wants to explore the entire palate of flavors and heat.

Small plates but a decent size. Flavor profiles amazing! We went for restaurant week and loved it. Service was a bit erratic but overall great experience. Next time we’ll sit at the bar - we love to watch chef(s) at work.

Chef Matt and his team consistently outdo themselves. We did the three course Maine Restaurant Week tasting menu and it was phenomenal. Portland’s little gem!

Excellent food with great flavors that came through with each bite. Good wine and creative cocktails. Small dining room on the second floor with quiet background music. Very easy to carry on a conversation. Staff was knowledgeable and attentive!! Great experience!

We sat overlooking the kitchen which was a great experience and showed how well the team worked. Everyone was attentive to us and asked if we were OK and if we liked the food. For starters we had the chick pea fries which are light and beautiful and not to missed - that's a firm recommendation. Lou had the shrimp entree which was a little of the small side considering it was a main meal. I had 2 starters - the falafel - another tasty dish and an average salad. This was our second visit and we'll return but be mindful of the portion sizes next time (:

We made a reservation at Evo for February 15 at 6:00 and had an outstanding meal with great service. We selected the Tasting menu. We had received an email just before Valentine's Day letting us know that there was a tasting menu being offered for $75 per person and $35 additional per person for wine pairings. We were unable to go on Valentine's Day, but were pleased to see the same deal offered on the menu when we sat down at Evo's the next evening. So we went for the tasting menus with wine pairings.
At those prices, we figured it would cost $220 for the two of us, plus taxa and a 20% tip. When we got the bill for $313 (including tax), then added $60 for the tip, the total came to $373. We enjoy a great meal every now and then, and had one at Evo. We were caught off guard by the actual price and would like to know what we missed in the small print?

With all the great restaurants in Portland, it would be easy to miss this one… And the front entrance is not particularly obvious. But make a reservation, and asked to be seated upstairs, and you will have a lovely experience. The chefs create small plates that are as beautiful to look at, as they are delicious to eat. I would highly recommend the chickpea fries, the grape leaves, the tuna, and the shrimp. Service was excellent, and although the meal was not cheap, it was worth every penny!
