Evo is a stand out restaurant in Portland, and one of the best overall experiences I've had in a very long time. The service, the food and the atmosphere were all on point. I highly recommend adding this to your list of must visit restaurants in Portland if you are looking for an excellent experience!
the food was outstanding but it took a while to get the food. My girlfriend got her meal first and she had hers finished before I even got mine.
Amazing food, such friendly staff and atmosphere is amazing.
We have never been here before and with restaurants closing early or being closed all together due to COVID we got lucky and found this place for a late dinner. Loved the atmosphere and our waitress Emily was AMAZING! To me the food was nothing special and our bill was outrageous for a tapa/ small plates type of place. Overall, i enjoyed myself and the foods I tried but not sure if I would make it a point to come again.
The service was excellent. Restaurant allowed more patrons than I feel could safely dine during pandemic.
Food was good. Service was great. It was loud and the kitchen was below us and we could hear a lot of chatter.
The food is always outstanding, and staff are always incredibly friendly. Evo provides a unique and elegant dining experience. It is always on our list of places to go when visiting Portland.
Excellent food, wonderful staff! We always have a great time here.
The food was outstanding and hospitality was amazing. One of our favorite restaurants for sure. Thank you guys for another wonderful experience!
Fantastic flavor and wonderful service! Highly recommend and will definitely be back... thanks for a wonderful experience.
We enjoyed the Chef’s choice so got to try a small portion of nearly everything on the menu. Every course was ended with a sense that we’d just enjoyed the best thing we ever ate; even the kale salad which we expected not to like. Our only “complaint” was the industrial decor giving a sterile ambiance and being seated at an unlit table where we had to use our cell phones to read the menu. Another very minor issue ... we got three fish courses in a row and then the meat courses. I would’ve enjoyed mixing those up with a fish then meat then fish ... etc. In terms of overall value, the meal was very expensive so, for us, a very special occasion only dining option. We also wished we’d understood the option of the outdoor “igloos” or chef’s table because we had chosen the chef’s choice option. Our tiny, tiny and dark table definitely detracted from the overall experience. Finally, that olive oil cake was a divine dessert ... light, not overly sweet and different!
We had the chefs tasting with wine pairing . Everything from soup to dessert was amazingly delicious!
A lovely restaurant, food was excellent, wine was delicious... Service was very good
I actually didn’t realize it was a “tapas style” place before going. I made the mistake of getting attached to photos found on open table and yelp, bc once we got there, those items were no longer on the menu which was very disappointing. But... every item we got was beyond phenomenal. The chickpea Fries were other-worldly. Like... mind-blowing. The Brussels... to die for. I don’t even like salmon, and I easily devoured half of my husbands salmon dish (forgot to take a picture of that one... it was served with red & golden beets, frisée, and labneh). And the beef tenderloin and crispy potatoes... wow. It was so tender, the potatoes tasted like gourmet crispy fries. The tiniest thing... the meat did need some salt. It was a little bland. But when eaten with the potatoes, it was balanced. The pavlova dessert was quite unique. Very yummy, but both hubs and I agreed that it definitely needed a cold/creamy element. A small scoop of ice cream would’ve elevated it to “perfect.” But overall... delicious. Our server seemed very new. Couldn’t quite describe anything accurately or answer any of our questions about the different dishes. And then... she kinda vanished. She never came back to ask if we wanted another drink. Other people delivered our food. And she never brought new silverware out either each dish (which had been taken with the dirty plates of the previous dish). And the last dish (the beef).. she either forgot to put it in, or... idk. It took over 20 minutes for a medium rare piece of tenderloin to come out. Just kinda messed up the flow of dinner. So... definitely lacking in service. She was sweet. Just not very good at her job 🤷🏼♀️ But... the quality of the food made up for the service. If we ever come back to Portland, I’d go here again. Very yummy 👍🏽
It was awesome! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She knew the menu inside and out and was able to help us pick what wine that paired with our dinner.
She said the meals were medium sized portion, to be completely honest, I thought it was going to be smaller. The portions were perfect for my friends and I.
We will be coming back!
Consistently fabulous. Great layers of flavor, spicing, texture and beautiful presentation. Matt and team are still on their “A” game. Can’t wait to come back.
We were a group of restaurant people in for dinner so we sometimes can be "critical" amoungst ourselves. First time there for 4 of the 6 of us.... and we all can't wait to go back! Not one thing I would change from our experience at EVO. Food was absolutely delicious, staff was attentive and gratious and it made for a well needed night out for all of us. Thank you...you have gained some loyal patrons. When we are back in town, we will most definitely visit again.
Came to Evo on a whim because it offered plant-based options on their menu. We decided to do the chef’s tasting menu which they have available even for vegans and vegetarians! All of the plates blew us away. Each one was more delicious than the last and by the end of the meal we were super satisfied—an upscale restaurant that actually provides value! The service was fantastic as well; our server was attentive and kind. We will definitely be back, with friends. Another huge shoutout for having so many plant-based option! Much appreciated!
Excellent food and a great wine selection! Try the coffee cake!
Fantastic flavors and presentation. A unique culinary experience in this small city.
Love everything about this establishment - the food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. Highly recommend this restaurant for a dining experience that will exceed your expectations in Portland!
All food was great and would come back again! Thanks
Enchanting evening on the patio with warm lighting and heating... Gorgeous food, wonderful drinks and wine.... So enjoyable...
Evo has never failed us. My fiancé and I had our first date here some time ago and we recently went back to celebrate our engagement. Phenomenal, top notch staff with amazing food. Try the Chef's tasting menu and you won't be disappointed. Thank you to everyone at Evo for always making our experiences a new favorite memory.
What a fabulous dining experience! Everything we had was over the top delicious and the team preparing and serving the food, the bartender, the hostess, in short everyone worked together to make our evening memorable. I hope EVO will remain open for a VERY long time.
The restaurant is smaller than expected but it was nice sitting upstairs. The food was amazing! Everything we ordered was so delicious and beautifully plated.
Chef’s Tasting and wine pairing was superb. Our service was impeccable as well
Excellent dining experience. Food was excellent. Portion size was small compared to the price. Wine was higher priced than I was comfortable with. Our server Emily was wonderful.
AMAZING! The service is on point. The waiters/waitress are attentive and will always greet you with a smile.
The ambience is fairly quiet. Despite having the kitchen right in the middle of the restaurant. I love the layout of the restaurant. Second floor for a different view of the restaurant.
Most importantly, the food. OH MY GOD. The food! I love everything. The portions are definitely shareable with a significant other. Nothing disappoints here. the food is localally grown, the menu changes often depending on the available local ingredients.
Had an AMAZING meal here! Did the chef's course and wine pairing and it was divine. My girlfriend would laugh uncontrollably after tasting the cod and gnocchi so be warned, food may cause uncontrollable noises! Entire staff was friendly and professional too.
Just a head’s up to anyone dining at Evo on a Saturday night. They are open Wednesday to Saturday and run out of many items by Saturday night. (As explained us by our server after our meal). We have not gone out much since COVID so this was a special night out. There are not many Entree choices, which would normally be fine, except they were out of my first choice and then were out of both my husband’s and my second choice. Pretty disappointing and no offer of a comped dessert or drink as compensation which would have been helpful. That being said, the appetizers were very good as were the cocktails.
Tasting menu was a great value and delicious!! We enjoyed trying many menu items and wine pairing. Loved the tuna, flank steak and chicken.
Love Evo! We’ve been here at least 4/5 times and are never disappointed. They have amazing food, great ambiance and attentive and personable staff.
Chef’s tasting menu was outstanding. They catered to my allergies and our waitress was friendly! Highly recommended.
Our server, Emily, was great and would highly recommend eating at Evo
Absolutely delicious!! Wasn’t sure about the small plate thing, but we ordered 3 different things to start and we were full! Highly recommend the flank steak and the tuna. Brussels sprouts were the best I ever had. Overall great experience!
My family and I all loved EVO. 1 gluten free-vegan, another vegan and 2 vegetarians. Our lovely server guided us through the selections of shared plates with ease and passion. All the dishes were amazing. Such unique flavor combinations that will inspire the home chef in me. 2 favorites we’d recommend are the chickpea fries, and the skordalia spread...they were both unbelievable! Thank you EVO for making our trip to Portland so memorable.
The tasting and wine pairing was excellent! Our waitress was kind and helpful and timed the plates well.
We went to Evo for a later dinner (8:30) during our Bachelorette Party celebration. Waitstaff offered us free prosecco, since our reserved table was occupied an extra ten minutes. Too kind! Service was darling, food was superb (even for our vegetarian bride) and the location was convenient. Do recommend, especially if you can a little more scratch to spend.
Modern and clean looking restaurant. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was fantastic and the drinks were great. I will definitely go back and look forward to it.
