Maine's micro seasons enable our Chefs to play. For you, this means they are always coming up with new dishes and creative ways of preparing the Maine food you know and love. Immerse yourself in this experience at our open kitchen while the Chefs strive to wow your senses.

Evo's dishes are meant to be shared. Modeled after mezze - groups of small dishes that are meant to be enjoyed together - you're encouraged to order a variety of shareable medium sized plates. If you're not into sharing, our menu has you covered too.
We require a credit card to reserve any seat. We ask all guests to cancel 24hrs before your scheduled reservation.
If a reservation is cancelled after the 24hr period we will charge your card $25 per person, unless we're able to make up the seats.

Seating was very cramped upstairs and lighting poor. My wife and I eat out very frequently and were disappointed. We ordered 4 starters and 2 entrees. One of the entrees was our 1st serving followed by our 4 starters and finished with the scallop entree in which the scallops were over cooked but the sauce and bowtie pasta tasty. Hummus was better several years ago and wine choices pretty bland. The kale salad was well done. Nowadays and in this type of restaurant I think a nice rose wine should always be available by bottle and glass. Not the case at this visit.

The food was really good but they were very small plates for the money. The two of us split 3 plates, one dessert and only one of us had a drink and it came to $150.00. The food definitely got the taste buds firing, but not sure it was worth the money.

The food at Evo is incredible. The food is served family style so plan to order thing stop share (which is great because you will want a bit of everything).

It's a small place, but they make the most of the limited seating area.

I have already started recommending Evo to friends and will definitely be going back soon.

Restaurant food and service is fantastic, my only complaint is the way food comes to the table. This was my first trip to this restaurant, I would order my food differently the next time I visit, and I will visit again. Food comes to the table as soon as it is ready, so if you order 5 plates, they could arrive all at once. Next time I will order more appropriately, and space the plates out. Otherwise this restaurant is great!

Exquisite preparation of Mediterranean small plate style. Kitchen staff worked with us so well maneuvering around our food restrictions. Big hits were the chickpea fries (fluffy pillows of goodness), the cod (delicate and flavorful), the chicken (juicy and highlighted by the bacon and kale), and finally the poached pear with apple sorbet (undoubtedly one of the best deserts in Portland these days). A great happy hour menu too!

Although we love the food at EVO we were quite dismayed at the poor timing throughout. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm and we we arrived spot on 7:30. We were kept waiting in a corner for 30 minutes before our table was ready. Not a great way to begin the evening.

We all decided upon the vegetarian tasting menu, and although the food was (as always) very good, the dishes arrived so fast that we were still eating one course as another one arrived. Within 30 minutes time we'd consumed half our meal! We mentioned this to our server and she slowed down the delivery of courses so some extent, but the whole evening felt very frenetic and unenjoyable.

We've eaten at EVO on another occasion and found the pacing of courses just fine so we can only presume this most recent experience was an anomaly.

Atmosphere was interesting and intimate. We enjoyed watching how well the staff worked as a team on a very busy night. Food selections were imaginative and served in an”small plate” style. Only negative was that despite what we were told all courses came at once and did not even fit on our small table for two.

This was my second visit to Evo and it was as wonderful as the first. It's a very busy place, so reservations are essential, but we were seated promptly and taken care of quickly. They generally serve food as it is prepared, so if you want some time between plates, be sure to tell them. The chickpea fries are a must, even if you've already had them. I haven't had a bad dish there. The service was attentive enough without being bothersome. I look forward to my next visit.

The food was incredible! We enjoyed thoroughly enjoyed every dish, one more than the last. We very much enjoyed the “family style” idea. we shared all of the food as it came out in the order it was made. It was exciting and delicious!

Second time going to Evo and both were great experiences and great food! First time we sat at the bar and got to watch it all in the making which was very cool. This time we all (4 people) did the chefs tasting with wine pairing. It was confusing, was not explained well by the server and too many courses for first wine pairing. I felt like the other 3 wine pairings happened very close together after the first was for about 6 different foods we tasted. Otherwise all was great!

We went to this restaurant because it was #1 on Trip Advisor, and it didn't disappoint! It is on the smaller size, but quite cozy. The food is excellent, everything we tried was different, healthy and tasty. The beet cocktail and the chickpea fries were our highlights. A definite try.

Went there for our anniversary. Cozy spot. Everything we ordered on the menu was fabulous. One dish as delicious as the next. Only complaint was that we had to order the food all at once and that the various items came out when they were cooked rather than in any order. Felt a bit rushed and wished they could have paced it better as we wanted to take our time given it was our anniversary.

The small plates at Evo lend themselves to sharing and sampling and accommodating a variety of dietary preferences. Four of us had a splendid time, and we were a pretty challenging group: one gluten and dairy intolerant, one vegan, one pescatarian and one omnivore. Staff were able to bring dressings on the side, and offer substitutes for yogurt dressings. They recommend two plates per person, which worked well. We enjoyed ordering five plates, and then pausing and ordering three more.

We ordered the tasting menu. Party of four, everyone seemed happy with the plates coming out of the kitchen. There were a few heavy bread items that I would rather have skipped but I was in the minority. Great service and atmosphere.

Not sure what the problem was this time at EVO as we have dined there before and loved it. Opted for tasting menu $85 per person with wine pairing which is an additional $40 each because the last time we had it we thought it was outstanding in both service and food. This time...not so much. Service started out ok. Got first few course quickly - too quickly really as we were still enjoying it when second came out and then third. Noticed after third course that nobody offered to take dirty plates, who wants to mix sauces from last 2 dishes with third dish? Lentils were excellent, tuna was too and beets delicious. Then it all came to a screeching halt. Had a tasteless lobster dish. We waited for almost 30 minutes for next course and when it came out, it was the same lobster as the one we had just had. . We let them know, and they seemed annoyed! We then waited another 25 minutes for the correct course. A server dropped a plate on the table and said - “here’s chicken sausage”. No plates to eat on no other explanation. The sausage was not good, mealy in consistency and bland. After another loong wait and a final meat course, we asked our original server if she had forgotten us and she told us “no, she was tired”. Wow ok. Now dessert was coming. Yet another server came up with 2 sorbets and dropped one on the floor. That’s ok, accidents happen. He left one and after more than 15 minutes and one of us eating alone they remembered us and brought a new one. Are they churning it to order? It’s a scoop in a bowl! By that time we just wanted out. Last course finally came - no dessert wine was served as had the last time either. Bottom line, if you can’t handle the tasting menu due to staffing then don’t offer it. Was going to tell a manager how disappointing the experience was but there was no one to be found when leaving. Rude staff and sub par food. So disappointing and NOT worth $270.

Evo food and service was excellent. Everything was wonderfully flavorful. The server was very attentive. On the second floor the noise level was surprisingly low because of all the noise dampening panels on the ceiling and walls.

The food, as always, was fantastic! We had the lobster and short rib ravioli for entrees. Both had incredibly flavorful, delicious sauces. Some of the best food we've ever had! Drinks were great, too. We'll definitely be back!

EVO was recommended by a friend so had to try it out. I ate light with the labneh and green tomatoes, both were great. When I finished the evening with the apple crisp, it was a total comfort food meal! Hannah was my very personable server, enjoyed it!

We're from out-of-state and we were in southern Maine for a big birthday. We wanted a special place to commemorate the occasion and selected Evo because of its vegan tasting menu (the birthday celebrant is vegan, I am not). At dinner, our server told us that the chef preferred that we would both have the same tasting entry so we opted for the vegan one. I love meat, but the vegan entries were so tasty that I didn't miss it. A really great meal!

Staff was very accommodating to our needs throughout the evening. There was a minor issue with the chefs choice meal but the managers were very responsive and compensated us for any displeasure we had with the service. The food was excellent.

The menu was creative and the food has extraordinary flavor. Lots of cuisine selection among a small menu. There were plenty of vegetarian options. Definitely make a reservation a week in advance as they fill up quickly. Our table was still occupied by another party when we arrived but the hostess brought us some complimentary boozy beverages while we waited. Overall it was a great dining experience. I will be back soon.

One of the best if not the best restaurant in Portland. Menu varies, farm fresh ingredients from shopping at local farmers markets and Chef will cater to people with food sensitivities. Food has explosions of flavors. May seem a little pricey but freshness, flavors and variety are worth it.

Wish I could give a five star rating but unfortunately one thing prevents that! The bartender was rude at first and seemed annoyed to serve us..after she was asked to BE NICE she did try to make us feel better. The chefs, hostess, food and environment was so great I feel bad with a rating of anything other than perfect. We did enjoy and we loved the food. The chef and owner deserve a five star as well as the other staff. I hope the bartender realizes and corrects her approach and think she just had a bad day. I appreciate the general manager calling to follow up and I know this wont happen again to any other party. Please go to this restaurant!! It is truly is amazing!

The food is good and it's definitely different if you are tired of the usual seafood. However, the order the food was presented really affected our meal. I understand there are restaurants where the food comes out when it's ready but the poor coordination from the kitchen and the rigidity in not being willing to send certain plates out together really ruined our meal. We ordered 5 plates for us to share and then we each ordered a plate for ourselves (4 diners). One of the individual's plates came out first and she had to eat alone as the next plate didn't show up for about 20 minutes. The more complicated dishes came first and simple things like labneh (that most people consider a starter) came out last. The server was absolutely unwilling to ask the kitchen if we could have our four individual plates come out either together or at the least after the 5 starter plates so at least everyone would have had something to eat to start. I will say the hostess was very accommodating when we were running late, changing our reservation from 7:15 to 7:30 and then being fine when we actually showed up at 7:15. But the way the restaurant has chosen to serve its food mean I won't be coming back anytime soon.
