Everest has amazing views to match the amazing food. Each course was excellent and nothing felt rushed or too slow in terms of service.

I have been going to Everest for the past 10 years and I was my favorite restaurant in Chicago up until this past Saturday when I was greeted by the worst surprise of my life, I encountered RACISM, yes you heard me correctly, RACISM, this coming from the newly appointed MANAGER from this fabulous restaurant. A MANAGER who knows nothing about SERVICE or CUSTOMERS, knows nothing about the golden rule of service "THE CLIENT IS ALWAYS RIGHT" and who has the audacity of saying that he does not care about the client, the client being me because I am no one, eventhough I made my reservation a month in advance and asked for an specific table and have been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years. That goes out the window because he does not care, better yet, from the start he believes I do not speak English and so he sends me someone that might be able to speak my language so on top of eveything, he proceeds to insult me... it has been such a disappointing experience which I wanted to share with you all because until this man learns the most fundamental rules of service, you will all be completely disrepected at this fabulous restaurant which is such a pity because the food is out of this world, the waiters are sweet and honest and the ambience is the best in Chicago but one person ruins it all: the MANAGERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Exceptional in every way. Lobster starter was the best I have ever tasted. Our jaws dropped and eyes opened wide the second we tasted it. Beautiful restaurant, excellent service and delicious and unique cuisine.

Outstanding in every respect - food quality/flavor, service, wine menu. Also appreciate that the noise level in the restaurant allows for a reasonable conversation with others without having to shout above the din of music, other diners’ conversations or the clanging of dishes.

Pre theater 3 course price fix is outstanding! Chef tasting, Sea bass, Pheasant, and two dessert tasting - all were amazing! Paired wines for 2 and the total bill is less than $250 with tip (even includes parking)! Still at their top of the game 30 years and counting!

Once we were inside the restaurant it was quite elegant and very thoughtful. I booked based on a Chicago Tribune article about where to eat prior to seeing Hamilton. The waitstaff was masterful at managing the time and suggested that if we leave at 7:00, we'd be fine. (Eh, I wish we had had another 15 minutes. We sat down literally as the lights were coming down due to a huge traffic jam with ticket scanning.) Food was beautifully prepared and what we expected. What set the mood, unfortunately, was no communication from the restaurant about when they opened. Not familiar with Chicago, we arrived a little early. A man at the desk of the skyscraper had our name on a list & sent us upstairs. The door to the restaurant was locked. As we knew we were in a time crunch, it was a little stressful. It was maybe 5:10-5:15? When I called to see what was going on a curt person told me they'd open @ 5:25. We stood around in a hot lobby for @ 20 minutes before the doors were opened. No apology. No accommodation. Strange to me if you are catering to a pre-theatre crowd.

I took my fiancé here for dinner to celebrate our engagement earlier that day. We were blown away by the service and how knowledgeable the staff was. We did the seven course tasting menu with wine pairings and the food was perfect. The view was unbelievable and it was a perfect experience!

Everest is everything we were told to expect. It is considered one of the top 10 restaurants in Chicago, and everything from the cordial yet professional fretting by the hostess to the final petit fours was done impeccably. I had the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was innovative and fun. My wife had the steak with fried gnocchi bits. More traditional, but delicious nonetheless. The service was attentive but not in the least overbearing. Yes, Everest is very pricey, but for a special occasion, it is well worth the price.

Very nice attention to detail and service. Chef visited the table which was a great touch. We were able to bring our own wine with a corkage fee. Michelin touches such as pre and post deserts!

Treated a friend here last night for her 23rd birthday; it was her first time there(and my third or 4th time there...since the DotCom 90s and early 2000s)! We had a great time! We were able to get a 5:30 pm dinner reservation that same day, with a decent window view. We both had the 7-course Tasting Menu, which was awesome! The sommelier also made fantastic recommendations throughout our dinner! The place looks brighter, sleeker and more modern than the first time I dined there in ‘97–yet it was still very warm and elegant and had a more diverse clientele. We would definitely come back here!

So. My first visit to Everest was about two decades in the making, I have been visiting the city of Chicago on business since about 1998 and have lived here since 2007 and it took me until 2017 to make my first visit to Everest. Typically, in my experience, there are unspoken, subliminally unrecognized reasons for such a delay in a particular restaurant's first experience for me. In some cases, we really regret the delay (e.g., Green Zebra), in more cases, those reasons become evident. Sadly, Everest sort of fit into the latter category.

I won't be so presumptuous and arrogant as to claim that Everest is not a destination experience in Chicago, probably in the culinary world. In fact, that is primarily what it is, a DESTINATION experience. If you like high end dining, you cannot truly say that you have fully experienced Chicago dining until you have visited the tried-and-true that is Everest. We do not regret the experience. However, it is possible that one visit may be enough.

This has little to do with the quality of the food and service, though the view from our table was a narrow wall so that part of the experience was not so great. We did have to move the reservations late on day of owing to work-related reasons, so maybe we got what we earned regarding the view; there is no way to know for sure. The service was certainly impeccable and in line with the kind of performance and attentiveness that we would expect from an establishment as renowned as Everest.

The food was certainly also good. It simply was not great. We did the tasting with wine pairing and were not disappointed but also not electrified. Like I said, good but not great, though that is probably not quite accurate. Maybe more accurate is that, for us, Everest was not top 10 but probably was top 25 in our dining experience. We are glad we went and we would go back but we probably won't specifically seek out a return.

It was my girlfriend's birthday, I arrived an hour early to inform the hostess that is was her birthday and please bring out something special at the end of the meal. She advised me what she could bring out and I thanked her. It was a 3 hour meal and for the two of us with gratuity it was $600.
They brought out nothing but the check.....
Hello? Everest Room???? Michelin star??? Seriously???
For what????????
I called the manager over afterwards and told him and he said he would look into it. Look into what???? You didn't do your jobs!!!!
We left thoroughly disappointed.
If you have $600 lying around and don't want it...Just send a check to Rich Melman. It's much easier than spending 3 hours at Everest and getting let down.

We dined on 8/12/2017 at 8pm, just in time to see the sun set. The restaurant is very small, only about 10 tables with high ceilings and polished white marble. There is a small bar to enjoy a cocktail if you arrive early. We didn't sit near a window, but the view was great from our table. We chose the Everest tasting menu with wine pairing. Standouts include the asparagus, lobster and foie gras. The most amazing dish of the night was the halibut. It was flaky and moist with a light flavor. The glass of Louis XIII was presented and served perfectly. We will always remember our experience at Everest.

Given all the fine dining options in Chicago there is no reason to go here. The service was off at first, with no attention paid to our table. Once service started it was good, but it was shocking to find land o'lakes butter served with the bread, given the superior options out there. We had the vegetarian tasting menu, the same foam appeared in 2 dishes, the beets in the first course were flavorless and seemed to come off a salad bar somewhere. On the whole, unimpressive, particularly for the price. The wines included in the pairing menu were uninspired and flat. No one seemed to know much about the wines either. One waiter could not identify the region in California for a wine. To be at that price point the restaurant must offer more in service and quality and ingredients.
