Soaring above Chicago's skyline on the 40th floor of One Financial Place and under the culinary direction of Chef/Owner Jean Joho, Everest serves some of Chicago's finest personalized cuisine. "Though the restaurant has a spectacular unobstructed cityscape as a backdrop, the food is what commands attention," said Chicago Magazine, which has voted Everest four stars for the tenth year in a row, since Everest opened.

Everest Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were good. Cocktails left a bit to be desired. Overall I enjoyed it, but we left hungry, and at $200 per person not including drinks, that was a bit disappointing. Next time for a comparable upscale experience I'd much rather go back to somewhere like Spiaggia.
A very disappointing experience at the Everest on Valentine's Day. The tasting menu looked good on paper, but turned out to be pretty mediocre and hugely overpriced. The service was professional but not warm and welcoming , the timing was all wrong and nobody seemed to care how we liked the food or if we needed anything else. Finally, the well advertised view was covered by the blinds! All and all, we were left with somewhat a sour taste.
As usual Chef Jean Joho brings his best. He is amazing! The tasting with pairing was a wonderful and fun way to try what you may never put together but works so well. We’ll be back again for another special occasion meal. It’s so good we counted get we’ve been there six times now, all for special occasions.
The food was very tasty and the view was incredible - the service was a bit hit / miss. The sommelier was super on, however our waitress seemed to not ask many questions or see if there was anything else she could grab for us.
Everything from service to food to wine was impeccable. Everest is not where you go to be challenged or surprised by the experience. It is, however, where you go for classic French cuisine at its finest and most refined. We couldn't have been happier with everyone with whom we interacted. We will be back.
Horrible place to eat. The food was sub par. The service for lack of a better word, sucked. We sat there for 30 minutes before anyone even addressed us. The waiter spilled a desert on my girlfriend's dress and did not even say sorry. The dress needed cleaning and they did not offer nor did they take anything off our bill. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. It is not worth the money or the time. I can't believe that it is "suppose" to be one of the best places in Chicago. Those people who give it a high rating have no taste!
Great dining experience with outstanding service. First, the free valet parking is a plus. Had no problem negotiating the three elevators up to the restaurant. Unlike previous reviewers, we were met by coat check upon exiting the last elevator. Service from the staff was exquisite. Seated near a window with a view (I do believe every table has a view of the skyline). We both ordered two starters, main, and desert. The Everest roasted main lobster starter was our favorite and is to die for. My wife had the steak with bearnaise sauce which was outstanding. I opted for the hare, however, I've had better and felt that the meat was a bit dry. Altogether the meal and service were outstanding. Two 4-course meals, two glasses of wine and coffee cost around $450 including gratuity.
Lovely restaurant and beautiful tasty food. Service was SPECTACULAR! Beautiful window view EXCEPT Everest advertised as a fireworks view for New Years (which is impossible when the restaurant' windows face the city not Lake Michigan. :( Regardless, a beautiful meal and experience (and SIGNIFICANT bill $$$$$. ) French loveliness and portions were nice. Every choice we made was yummy.
Please note that this review is for a New Year's eve prix-fixe dinner. Unfortunately, the dinner experience was sub par for due to a couple of factors. Upon reservation, I made a request for a table by a window. When I was called to reconfirm the reservation I mentioned our request once again and the host told me that they would do everything possible to accommodate us. When we got to the restaurant, we got seated at one of the worst possible tables - it was in between the windows by the column and neither I or my wife had any views other than the restaurant's interior which by all means is nice and European. There was a round table right next to us and a large window which was only occupied by 2 people instead of 6. When it cleared up we asked one of the hosts to be relocated to that table. We were again told that they would do everything possible to get us reseated. 15 minutes later they put another couple at that table and nobody even came back to tell us that it would not be possible to relocate us. To sum it up, higher than average price level does not guarantee you a top notch overall service that you would expect from a restaurant of this level. The food overall was good...for Chicago. If you travel to Europe and around the world please do not have your hopes too high if electing to visit Everest. Go without any expectations. We were in Paris for a week a month ago and dined at some some local family owned restaurants without Michelin stars and all the hype...the food was as good and the cost was 3-4 times less...so do not expect value for money at Everest compared to France. Finally, if I knew we would get such an overall treatment, there is no way I would have selected this place for a New Year's eve dinner with my wife. We have dined at Sixteen numerous times and even though it is more expensive, we were never treated with such arrogance as we were at Everest. Total disappointment!
We chose this restaurant because it was one of the first listed in a search for restaurants with vegetarian dishes. No question, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We knew that it was a nice restaurant. We did not realize it was the most expensive restaurant in Chicago. Certainly this restaurant is top of the line in quality and a great experience, if you are prepared to pay $500 for 2 people. We did go on NYE so they had only the tasting menu as an option. Still I thought a bit of warning would have been nice. Otherwise, you will not regret a visit to Everest.
Excellent as it was decades ago. We were very frequent diners for years after Everest first opened but have not been back for 15 years. The two of us celebrated a milestone anniversary. The sommelier was knowledgeable and confirmed our pre-determined choice. The food was spectacular and timed perfectly. The wait staff was orchestrated well. The table for two was not next to the window but was perfect as we both had a view - at the window one would have had their back to the view. Would highly recommend for any occasion.
Went on Saturday and from the time we were seated it took over 25 min before we were properly greeted and asked if we would like a glass of Champagne or a cocktail.
After letting the staff know of my displeasure it did get better but for the prices they charge and being a Michelin star restauarant, the service should be perfect.
Food overall was good, Scallops on the hot appetizer were the best dish of the night.
Thank you Chef for preparing an off menu risotto for me, and also for providing without a doubt one of the best food experiences of my life. This was certainly a magical meal and night to remember. Your greeting at our table was a great personal touch, and I hope to return again to your wonderful establishment. Thank you and the rest of your team!
This was a birthday dinner for my girlfriend. The staff was very accommodating and very professional. The food was not severely overpriced and was fantastic. Overall, I believe this was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this place if you would like to experience true fine dining.
