Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.
An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.
The jewel of Evangeline is the trellised outdoor patio, with heaters and fans for outdoor dining in all but the most forbidding weather. Dappled sunlight and lively music make it a Napa Valley idyll worth the drive up-valley. Free parking abounds across the street.
Totally disappointed after enjoying on 2 previous visits. Service very slow, food cold and brought out separately so long wait. Music way to loud. Good way below par. Will not return!
The patio is the perfect place for a leisurely lunch. Very good food, very good wine list, lovely people.
Glad I had reservations, it was getting pretty busy around 630pm. Best time to go is when they open for dinner. Amazing customer service, the wait staff was attentive and always bustling. The food was unbelievably the best i have in a long time. I started with the Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, devoured them...i could of just eaten those. My drink of choice was the French 1226 (gin, lemon juice, elderberry and champagne) delicious and bright with fresh ingredients. For dinner I had the Duck Confit melt in your mouth so good and filling. Lastly ended the night with the most creamiest melt in your mouth Creme Brulee....I'll have to say probably the best creme brulee i ever had in California. Everyone their was very friendly. Definitely a place to visit while in Calistoga.
Shrimp etouffee was rich and well-seasoned. Not much heat to it though. Lobster risotto was also very good. Absolute best bite of the night was the Meyer Lemon Cake!
What an excellent treat! Evangeline's was a great dining experience. The wine selection was excellent and the food was awesome. Service was friendly and perfect. Will return again when in the Napa valley.
I eat here every time I visit Calistoga. Great food, charming location, lovely staff.
Poor quality food. Seafood was old and should not even have been served.
Have been here a few times prior and was happy with the quality of food. Unfortunately my latest trip I was left disappointed and will not be making future visits. The food was bland and for the price point I expect to have an amazing food experience and this was far from it.
Lovely, relaxed and refined.
Fantastic service and the food was divine. My husband and I were very impressed.
Our server was outstanding but the food failed on all accounts. We were told the chef called out for the night and that was the excuse for the poor execution of all dishes. We might give them another try but again with so many choices perhaps not.
Lovely restaurant. Evangeline is a great place to gather with friends for a great meal.
Lovely space, we ate in the garden and I had the best burger an fries I've had in years. Perfectly prepared, and simple in its elegance. Only caveat was we were under the speakers, and music was a bit loud from Time to time. Overall a lovely place.
Wonderful birthday dinner. Food and service were exceptional. Could use outdoor heaters.
Fried green tomatoes were great starter. The food was great but felt flavors could have been bigger, and some portion sizes as well. Overall really enjoyable. Dessert was lemon cake with marscapone and huckleberries was delicious!
The patio is a lovely place to sit in the evening and dine al fresco but the food was decidedly ordinary and a bit pricey.
Took over 20 minutes to get check following meal. Finally had to go to cashier to get bill.
Very nice experience. Perfect place to meet with friends. Would go again next time we visit Calistoga!
Super tasty. Brought my cousins from japan and my wife. Great food and service. Weather was warm so Outside seating at the patio is very nice.
We went on a Sunday for brunch but wanted to order the Steak Frites off the weekday lunch menu and the wait person asked the kitchen and they said yes. BTW, the Steak Frites was aged beef and it was awesome. The website may be out of date though as it listed the price for this as $28 and when the bill came, it was $34. But, since they accommodated our special request, we were not going to argue. The patio is very charming and very French Quarter. All in all, it was a really great brunch. Thanks, Evangeline!
I proposed to my fiancé in the outdoor patio. She said yes! It was a perfect setting and the staff helped me pull off the surprise. Brunch was excellent and service was top notch! Highly recommend!
Very nice people, pleasant space, drinks excellent food was above average

Not busy but lack of attention
Great location and charming ambience, especially the outdoor patio. The food however was barely average
We came back, after a wonderful visit about two years ago. The food was great, but the negative comments are about the service. Honestly, we felt rushed, hurried along, and interrupted too often during conversation. They are very nice people I think, but I think they need to be better trained.
It’s a very nice restaurant. The location is great, the good and service are amazing. I highly recommend this place
Definite recommendation for fresh, tasty food in Calistoga after a late morning wine tasting! Hands down they served the BEST fried pickles I have ever tasted and they went the extra mile to include a few in my shrimp po boy. I dined there for lunch, however, I intend on returning to enjoy their weekend brunch, which has a more expansive menu! Please do stop by and enjoy!
2 dishes arrived cold. 1 returned and took 15 minutes to get it back. Fried green tomatoes were all fry and no tomato. Slow service. Weird ambiance - place was empty at 7:45 pm despite not showing availability between 6:15-7:45.
The food quality has really gone down, it used to be my favorite place to go and now I won’t ever go again. The appetizers were fine but the mains had no flavor and felt over cooked
Evangeline had us feeling like we were in New Orleans. Food was excellent and channeled the Big Easy. Decor, music and ambiance all on point. Service was attentive. Don't miss this gem!
This is a mixed review. The onion soup was excellent. The main dish was a disappointment. The menu stated that my king salmon would be served with lettuce and sebastopol greens. It actually came with a pile of greens and pickled onions with the salmon on top of all this. I detest onions and therefore could not eat anything except the salmon. Piling all the food up in this way is not a palatable presentation. Substituting items that are not on the menu is unacceptable.
The burger is phenomenal!! And the staff is really friendly.
The French Onion Soup was incredible but the risotto was unimpressive. The salmon seared well, but the salad underneath was too bright with citrus dressing to match. Deep fried brussels were a touch too soggy. Try adding some heat lamps outside as well or offering blankets. Wonderful service though!
Food is excellent. Good service. We ate inside, but the outdoor seating is very charming.
Big disappointment. Met with an unprofessional attitude right when we walked in. Waiter had an attitude. Was put out when I asked about the cost of their appetizer special (which was $95 by they way - and this is not a typo). Food was mediocre. Absolute worst crabcake I have ever eaten ( and I've had hundreds). Mosquitoes were out. Once I didn't order the $95 appetizer the service went downhill. I would not recommend this restaurant.
Ambiance was perfect, but we were underwhelmed by the food itself. Not sure if it was an off night for the kitchen, but they seemed to have missed salt on all the dishes.
Very overpriced for what is really a mid to low range bistro. Wait staff was inattentive and not very knowledgeable. Much better options in Calistoga and The valley.
I am not usually a fan of ordering chicken, as it's usually too dry for my taste. However, I ordered a half chicken and it was absolutely spot on. Excellent flavors as well. Sampled a few other of the guests dishes from my table, and everything was excellent!
Beautiful restaurant. My husband had the lobster risotto and it was very flavorful. The lobster was high quality. I had the duck with plum sauce and it was amazing. The waiter found an old bottle of wine that was off the menu and it was spectacular. A real gem.
