Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.
An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.
The jewel of Evangeline is the trellised outdoor patio, with heaters and fans for outdoor dining in all but the most forbidding weather. Dappled sunlight and lively music make it a Napa Valley idyll worth the drive up-valley. Free parking abounds across the street.

Seriously, just go here. From the service to the food, everything is outstanding
Service was excellent as was the food ! Highly recommend....
Service and ambiance was great – food was bland and not worth the money.
Mother’s Day get-away. Food was superb and the service was fantastic!
Excellent food, great service, and a Mother’s Day meal success. First time here, brought our well behaved pooch as well and sat outside. Nice touch menu of american dishes with a French/Creole spice. Even the often difficult to please palate of my in-law was pleased....rare!
Seafood tour was epic! We had the heirloom tomatoes with it and it was fantastic.
Not what I expected. The service was non-existent- just an order taker. It kind of soured the whole evening.
We visited Evangeline for Mother's Day this year and loved it. The roasted chicken and spring risotto were especially delicious.
Outdoor seating was nice but be aware of the vines as they are currently blooming and will shed into your drinks and on your food. The service was unfortunately fair to poor. The waiter was kind, but completely inattentive. The food was slow to come out, but back to the server, was obviously sitting in the window for an extended period of time waiting to be picked up and served to us. The pricing was a little high for the level of food and service received. This place would be amazing for just drinks and lounging.
When we checked in, both my wife and I noticed that the check in podium was a mess. Dirty towels, etc.,Not conducive for dining. We were escorted to a table that wobbled worse than a sailor on a Saturday night. It took ten minutes to fix.
My wife had a lovely Schramsberg rose and I ordered a local Cabernet. The Cabernet was undrinkable. Absolute swill. My wife tried the cab and we were both surprised that a fine dining restaurant would serve such a horrible wine.
That said, both our entrees were very good. Spring risotto and shrimp etouffee. Excellent!
All things considered, the wine list was problematic and the actual wine ordered completely ruined my meal. If this restaurant ever takes its wine list seriously we might return.
I love Evangeline! The courtyard is beautiful, the food is delicious and the service top notch. Highly recommend.
We were there for our anniversary. The staff was wonderful, great service. Really enjoyed the steak, cooked perfectly. Will definitely return.
A very nice dining experience overall: friendly staff, good cocktails/wine list, a nice patio, and tasty food (I recommend the pork shoulder entrée). I will definitely visit again next time I'm in Calistoga.
We were really surprised at the spaciousness and the ambiance of the back area. The front of the restaurant gives no clue to the depth of the restaurant. Delicious shrimp étouffée!
This is a Calistoga gem. My second time here. Love the ambiance and authentic and delicious food. The shrimp éttoufée and heirloom tomato salad were particularly fantastic. Going back again. Two times in a three night trip says it all. Very attentive service and a pretty patio
This is our third visit to Evangeline and each time we've really enjoyed ourselves. The place has a fun menu and a great vibe. We appreciated the COVID care that the staff took to help keep us all safe. Also! My wife has a SERIOUS gluten allergy. We really appreciated the care our server took to make sure what we ordered was gluten-free. We left happy, well-fed & feelin' good!
Loved the by the glass list!!
Selected Evangeeline based on brunch menu presented on line. Unfortunately, this was not the menu we found at the restaurant. Food was good, but pricey. Felt enclosed for an outdoor venue. Not likely to return.
We sat outside and it was a nice atmosphere. Food was good and we will definitely return.
Cozy neighborhood restaurant with great food and drinks!
Atmosphere was wonderful, food and service was great. Very comfortable location.
The food was good, but not exceptional. The service was quite slow (though the servers were very professional and did seem to be working hard—maybe they're understaffed?). I wouldn't NOT recommend this, but I'm sure there are better spots.
Friendly staff, charming outdoor courtyard, and yummy food. We will happily visit again!
Waitstaff were very attentive but respectful of our privacy. Their menu suggestions were excellent. A wonderful experience all around
At the host stand we got a lecture about wearing masks, which we were. No greeting, just a lecture.
He also told us that the menu would be on a photo shot accessed by smart phone. We didn’t know this. We’re all senior citizens, not very tech savvy. He did give us one paper menu. At the table one in our party was able to get the menu through the photo shot. However, the photo shot menu was different from the paper menu. Our server was no help when we explained the situation. He was annoyed with us.
Also the table was dirty and it sloped. So we couldn’t place the wine bottle on the table.
The food was good except for my charred avocado which had a hair on it.
On the eve of our 35th anniversary we were lucky enough to secure a table here. We were greeted by congratulations and after being seated a small glass of sparkling wine arrived from our server. Difficult to choose our meals as the menu is just outstanding and full of delectable choices. We opted for sweet Pacific oysters and cocktails followed by some fried dill
pickles! We continued with solid southern favorites of shrimp etoufee and gumbo. Absolutely delicious .
This was a wonderful experience and the owner was a very kind man generous with his time. I'll be back in a second. 😋😋
We had a really good experience at Evangeline. They're only serving outdoors under a tent, and it was pretty cold, but the heaters kept us comfortable. Service was friendly and attentive but not bothersome. The food has an authentic "New Orleans" influence, so lots of intense flavors but not hot on the tongue. One of us had risotto, the other had shrimp étouffée, and we shared a side of brussels sprouts. Generous portions, excellent taste and presentation, and reasonably priced. We would definitely go back and highly recommend Evangeline for an excellent casual dinner in Calistoga. Save your money for a splurge in the higher-end eateries of Yountville.
Nice garden ambience for dinner -
Very small and intimate.
Very good food. Great outdoor patio space! Loved the coffee martini!
Great outdoor space long before Covid
It was busy and diners received their food at different times
While the service was good the flavorings were less so. The French onion soup lacked flavor, as did the pork shoulder. The shoulder serving was excessive and could have been cut in half, replacing the excess with some vegetables of silubstance like Brussel sprouts. The asparagus salad at 16 dollars should have been heartier than three spears and should have been seasoned.
The food was tasty. A bit on the cayenne hot side without warning.
I wish I had written down the name of our waiter he was exceptional he was so helpful always there to offer more beverages and really was great to tell the Chef about the 28 day dry aged steak that was cooked perfectly but very tough not able to chew that my friend ordered he took it off our check since my friend ate 1/4 of it and was unable to take home or give yo a pet because we were staying at a local hotel for another night ! Excellent Sazerac’s chocolate mousse and the appetizers were fantastic. My Pork shoulder was a tad dry but the mustard buerre Blanc added the moisture needed ! Thanks for a fun evening we will be back !
Excellent food and super fast service
Great all around! Delicious food, great service, best in years!
WOW!!! I have no words to describe how amazing our lunch was the food was fantastic the staff was so sweet!! We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made it so special!! We had the cream brûle and It was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten!!!!
It was slow but in a good way... so that your meal wasn’t rushed. Delicious.
