Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.
An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.
The jewel of Evangeline is the trellised outdoor patio, with heaters and fans for outdoor dining in all but the most forbidding weather. Dappled sunlight and lively music make it a Napa Valley idyll worth the drive up-valley. Free parking abounds across the street.

We came to Evangeline for brunch and we weren’t disappointed! The food was amazing! I had their avocado toast and a waffle, and my husband had a salmon omelette. The food was amazing! We are fans!
Went here for dinner on a Friday. Nice outdoor setting but we felt the tables were a bit stark, could've done with a table cloth and some flowers/candles/something. Anyway, minor gripe to the side, everything else was really great. Our waiter was fantastic, low key, friendly and professional. Started with the seafood tower, which was on point - the pacific oysters were from Baja (unexpected given how close they are to Tomales and Drakes Bays) - they were fresh, plump, briny and all in all, outstanding. Boiled prawns, perfectly cooked and seasoned, as was the 1/2 Maine lobster. The mignonette was on point, and their hot sauce was a great accompaniment for the shrimp (it has a fun secret, ask). All of that was paired with a great bottle of 2019 Cami Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley, so good. I moved on to some of the best chicken and sausage gumbo I've ever had, rich, layered and utterly delicious. My lady had the steak frittes, as good as you would expect given how on point everything else was. Capped things off with a delectable vanilla creme brulee, so creamy,, so yum! If you're in Calistoga, Evangeline is a must. We're going back for brunch on Sunday.
Our party was a great success. The menu was delight and our selections were superb, perfectly prepared and served. Our server, Ramon, deserves a special shout-out: Aside from his professional service, he was cheerfully conversational and very friendly. We definitely will be looking forward dining with Ramon at our next Evangeline outing
The food and cocktails were all delicious and fresh, the service was excellent and the outdoor patio was gorgeous and serene-I would absolutely go back!
We had an amazing dinner here. Highly recommend!
Disappointed with the service. We were barely spoken to and our server only became friendly when it was near time to tip. It seemed like they weren’t taking us seriously because we’re young which was ultimately really disappointing. Food was awesome but that really left a bad taste in our mouths. A+ for that snobby French vibe if you’re into that
The gumbo was particularly good and smoky, but everything we tasted was delicious. We would absolutely come back for another experience.
The outdoor patio looks pretty safe but the environment is a little shady since flies are flying around. The dishes’ quality is not even. The mussels are extremely good, juicy and with a little subtle taste of wine. The salmon has good presentation but a little too dry. The halibut is a total failure since it is totally dried. Halibuts are not supposed to be cooked like that. Good thing that we didn’t choose any pairing wines.
The verdict: not recommended based on its value and price ratio.
Our party of three felt like the restaurant was nothing special. We were seated outside at a table that needed to be wiped down and then set up. It was a brunch menu with some items on the menu not available (grits and shrimp). Once our order was taken the service was fast but the food felt slightly cool, almost like it had been pre made and reheated or sitting under warming lights. Eggs Benedict w/prosciutto- eggs were slightly under cooked. Waffle and chicken - waffle was kind of stiff and chicken over cooked and shrimp scald was served with sliced up prawns rather than bay shrimp. We did not have dessert as all they had available was bread pudding or brownie, not all their normal desserts. Probably will not go back again.
Celebrated our daughter’s college graduation wit brunch. Great menu. Good was very good.
The service was terrific. The food was pretty good. For a starter, we ordered the peach and prosciutto salad—the peaches could have been riper, but the prosciutto and blistered onion delicious and a great combination. The steak in the steak frites was a bit tough, but the fries crispy and terrific. We loved the brownie and ice cream dessert! The outdoor seating area great on a summer’s night.
Great restaurant! Super good food, location, and the ambiance made it a perfect place - the outside patio was really private. Service was a bit off (covid has made restaurant service weird in general), but was still pretty good. I'd recommend a better selection of wines by the glass - this is the only area of improvement. The food was 5 stars - superb, will definitely return next time in Calistoga!
Wonderful Cocktails. Listen you your waiter on recommendations and you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent food, great service. Had to wait 25 min past reservation time to get a table- perhaps comp a drink or something to appease, but this did not happen. Otherwise outstanding experience.
Great and cozy place with amazing food! Definitely will come back!
Food tastes really good! Wish just a little more attention to details but overall is very pleasant
Wonderful dining experience. Food and service was outstanding. Would recommend this place.
Excellent service delicious food great drinks!!
Lovely patio dining. Loved our peach and prosciutto salad and roast chicken. Service excellent.
Hard time making online reservation. Tried to call all day to confirm reservation got a message with a mans name not the restaurant. VM full.
Communicated it was a birthday dinner. Did not acknowledge birthday during our visit.
Will not return or recommend.
Very nice good food and service we enjoyed the meal
The food was adequate. My eggs benedict came with one egg completely hard boiled while the other one was fine. The food overall was served cold, we sat down at 11:40 and were not served until 12:30pm. I don't know if the food just sat there waiting to be brought to the table, but I was not please with mine at all. I had coffee and was never asked for a refill or anything. One of our other party asked for the fried chicken sandwich, and it came broiled, not fried. There were hardly any customers when we arrived, so I'm not sure why the wait and service was so slow. Not planning on going back or recommending to anyone.
Fun! Great foot and drinks!
Ambiance under the pergola was beautiful and peaceful. Creole food had phenomenal flavors.
This was for my 60 th birthday.
Chicken sandwich was flavorless. Cajun food should taste lively!
Clams too small, but gumbo was good. Gumbo was good, but not generous with andouille like other reviews said.
I would not recommend or go back.
I was surprised to see it had a B restaurant rating..everything we saw looked clean and safety protocols were being followed with masks, etc.
The fried brussel sprouts, shrimp etoufe and spring risotto were delicious. The sangria was also amazing. Service was outstanding. When it came to the desserts the cheesecake was good however the creme brulee disappointed as it was too runny inside.
We ordered the house cured olives, cocktails, the halibut special, shrimp etoufee, and chocolate mousse. Everything was spectacular! The staff was attentive and friendly. They even brought out ice cream with a candle since we were celebrating my birthday. Perfect place to kick off our stay in Calistoga.
The Sweet Corn Chilled Soup was fantastic! Both our Fish and Steak orders were cooked to perfection. Loved the Fried Green Tomatoes as well. Highly recommend.
Food is slightly better than average, it seems like an opportunity missed
Amazing Restaurant!! Amazing food! Amazing service! Thank you so much!!
Ambience was great, but could have MORE menu choices.
Awesome neighborhood spot with fabulous food. Everyone in our party loved their meals.
Dinner was fantastic! From appetizers to main courses to desserts — it was all delicious!
Gumbo was pretty spicy but delicious. The bill was pretty high for the amount of food. Not great value , but very good food
Fantastic from start to finish. Fried pickles are the best we’ve had, and we’ve had a lot of them! Service is top notch, food is impressive, and wine is amazing! We will definitely be back!
Fun New Orleans vibe. Good service. Delicious brunch. Great music.
While service was friendly, the burger was tasteless and fries were cold. Plus, the burger was not cooked and served as confirmed and requested.
Food sadly is not what it used to be from when it opened years ago. It feels like the menu just caters to the tourist trade. My risotto was really bad.
