Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.
An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.
The jewel of Evangeline is the trellised outdoor patio, with heaters and fans for outdoor dining in all but the most forbidding weather. Dappled sunlight and lively music make it a Napa Valley idyll worth the drive up-valley. Free parking abounds across the street.
creekstone twenty eight day aged prime flat iron steak, evangeline steak sauce, kennebec potato french fries
French Onion Soup
caramelized sweet onion, country bread, gruyere
Fried Chicken Sandwich
brined and fried mary's chicken breast, house cole slaw, brioche bun, french fries
New Orleans music playing softly (but energetically!) in the background was the extra ingredient that made our evening perfect.
VERY SLOW service. We were there for almost 2 hours before food arrived. Waiter was nonexistent.
We had a superb dinner at Evangeline, sitting at the back of the courtyard. One of us ordered the deconstructed "Cob Salad"—a very interesting presentation with great flavors, including a fried chicken cutlet, and the other a stick frites. I borrowed the blue cheese from my wife's salad to adorn my steak—and that was a good move. The chocolate mousse was enough to fill an entire pot of Bonne Maman preserves—and it was tasty. The only disappointment was my cocktail—a minimal Sazerac that I exchanged for a glass of Zin. Service was wonderful—all in all, a great night out!
My only complaint was that I thought the price of two glasses of Chardonay (~4oz pour) at $38 was a bit rich.
Very nice place out on their patio!
The food was delicious service was friendly and accommodating.
Trendy area, trendy restaurant, but it just feels like they are mailing it in. Food was bland and very poorly prepared. Plating was a disaster and no one seemed to care.
Often see this with poor management teams. It's a great concept and location, too bad they seem to be struggling.
Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic food. Can't wait to come back!
The staff and service were friendly and fast, but the food was overpriced for the quality and quantity. Seafood selection was poor and lacked Cajun flavor.
Food was amazing! The patio was beautiful. We had the chicken and waffle, chicken sandwich, brussel sprouts, fried pickles, avocado toast and shrimp and grits. we enjoyed it all family style so we can taste everything. The consensus best was the fried chicken sandwich.
Service was so-so close to none. Appetizers was good but entries could be skipped completely. Printed in front menu said there is a duck dish but it wasn't in the actual menu. We were coming to this place every time we were in town. But don't think we will be back in this place. Sad.
Delicious food, very pleasant environment. We would definitely like to go back (family of 4, two kids). Also looked like a sweet place for a romantic dinner or celebrating with friends.
A very friendly and warm place. We were greeted right away by the owner. By the time we left I felt like we were old friends. We will be back for sure.
Always delicious and super friendly. Dog friendly too. The pork shoulder was out of this world.
The food here was delicious and it looks as good as it taste. Glad we stopped here for our Easter dinner 🍽😋
Wonderful setting in the garden, excellent cocktails. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
The food was standard, good but not special.
The food and service was excellent and we enjoyed our Easter Brunch!
Evangeline's was perfect. The outside patio was great with good heaters for the cool evening. Service was great and food was good. We had the Roasted chicken and the Steak. I definitely recommend!
The food was delicious and the waiter was friendly, and recommended an excellent bottle of wine!
Service was very slow and the food was underseasoned.
Great meal, lovely setting! Very beautiful evening outdoor ambiance!
The environment was beautiful and relaxing. Service was warm and efficient. Food was delicious, and really the best in Calistoga. Was my first visit, and can’t wait to return. Sam’s and Calistoga Inn felt far short in comparison.
We had a marvelous dinner at Evangeline as a joint birthday celebration. My husband loved the hamburger (wagyu beef, chedder, charred avocado instead of fries). I had asparagus with buratta and blue crab miniatures, perfect seasoning and beautiful presentation. The Frank Family Carneros style Chardonnay was perfect. We ended with Three Twins ice cream (a favorite, now sadly discontinued due to covid) and a topper of Mumm's champagne. The music brought back our trips to NOLA (Dr. John, James Booker, palm trees swayed in the distance. Other diners were well distanced. Our waiter was attentive. It was glorious!
Realy good food and patio set up is very nice.
Tasty food & drinks but they needed more servers. Understand that they might just be ramping back up though. Would return!
delicious food, quaint, good drinks, spent my mom's 70th birthday dinner there and the food didn't disappoint.
The service was outstanding.
Shrimp appetizer was delicious.
I ordered the steak frites medium and they were done medium well.
Very little flavor.
Great Meal. Everything at Evangeline was wonderful. They really know how to make a great cocktail! I had the GUMBO and was a real treat. Capped it off with Tarte Tatin.
Can't wait to dine there again.
Food service and drinks were all fantastic.
Since the pandemic, their menu had differed from the original and what’s posted on their website. Everything has been minimized including ingredients. However, the prices are the same. I would think after what’s happened globally that a good restaurant would use the opportunity and attract customers by standing out with constructive change emitting positivity. Instead, this careless phenomenon is transpiring all around us within products and services. Shall we continue to disavow these actions or confront them to effect change? Do not feel obligated as a consumer to owe anyone for a reason other than that seller meeting and/or exceeding your expectations. It is the sellers obligation to provide something in which you feel that they deserve your funds. Similar to tipping for service. A tip should not be used in order to pay the employee what they already deserve from their employer. A tip should not be an obligation, but a generous reward to those that have thoughtfully earned it.
So disappointed. we had heard about Evangeline from many. But the actual experience was not up to recommendations! We ordered the chicken - it was overcooked and dry. Flavor would have been good if the breast had not been bone suckingly dry. Risotto - tiny appetizer sized portion, not a main dish size! Pork was delish! If only the rest of the food had been up to this standard! Shrimp Etoufe was good. Deserts - two folks ordered creme brulee - one was twice as big as the other. hmmm. but very tasty! chocolate mousse was huge and good. Apple tarte tatin was too sweet, otherwise not bad. Overall, just OK, certainly not worth the price or the rep
We had a lovely dinner out on the patio. The food was excellent. I highly recommend the gumbo.
Was disappointed about the lack of seasoning in every dish we ordered.
Lovely restaurant and attentive staff. Cocktails were well prepared but amount poured was way under expectations Dinner was well prepared and perfectly seasoned
We enjoyed it! Plan to return and would recommend.
I love Evangeline. Always happy to eat there! We had the asparagus/burrata appetizer, it was just perfect, asparagus just cooked, still a bit crunchy, the creamy burrata complemented perfectly.
Awesome place in Calistoga. Second time there. Food was excellent!
I think we ordered the wrong things. They were just Ok, but nothing that knocked our socks off. The cocktails were nice. It was Monday...
As much as we want to fully support restaurants now, it cannot be ignored that this meal was a huge disappointment—cold omelette, undercooked French fries, soggy waffle, battery chicken breast, wine served fifteen minutes after ordering even though requested to be served promptly and before the food...and an uncaring attitude when the wine was requested after the extended wait. We won’t return. We don’t believe that this restaurant is even trying to excel.
Service was slow. Took forever to get our drinks and app.
Food was great, service was amazing, Our waiter was so kind. I have food allergies and he was so helpful and patient. Made our experience very memorable.
