Classic bistro items such as raw oysters, croque madame, smoked salmon, and steak frites--each of them in the most flavorful form you've ever seen or tasted. Daily specials like shrimp etouffee, gumbo ya-ya, and fried chicken offer glimpses into the Chef's French and Creole repertoire.
An extensive array of wines by the glass is anchored by our draft wine system, which serves perfect pours on exclusive wines seldom offered except by the bottle. Our local beers and liquors will get your toe tapping at the comfortable, chic bar.
The jewel of Evangeline is the trellised outdoor patio, with heaters and fans for outdoor dining in all but the most forbidding weather. Dappled sunlight and lively music make it a Napa Valley idyll worth the drive up-valley. Free parking abounds across the street.
creekstone twenty eight day aged prime flat iron steak, evangeline steak sauce, kennebec potato french fries
ginny's gin, lemon, elderberry, champagne
gulf shrimp, lettuces, haas avocado, radishes, louis
Our server was great. The melon salad appetizer was very good. The hush puppies shouldn’t be called hush puppies as their more love acorns.
A GREAT FIRST EXPERIENCE AT EVANGELINE. WE WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.
QR code menu does not include everything on the menu 🤔
My husband's mussels initially served cold, staff responsive to correct but several mussels not fresh. I would not recommend.
The pork shoulder dish is one of the worst things I’ve ever ordered. The hamburger was undercooked and was served without condiments.
We will not be back.
This jewel was a great find in Calistoga. Excellent food and different from most restaurants around here. Beautiful patio, good food choices including Creole dishes, good drinks and great service.
We were sadly disappointed with our Otto's Chicken Sandwich. The chicken breast was so thin it was thinner than the slice of cheddar cheese! Open Table menu listed it for $16 which if it was actually a chicken breast, not a thin slice of one, it would have been worth it. The price on the actual menu, which was a QR code was $20.
It looked like it could have been a fun place, but sadly we don't feel like it is worth returning to
It was just ok, costly, and I could not recommend it.
Since I live in Napa I was looking for a restaurant that I have not been to before. Evangeline looked like a good addition but now I know that it is not. The first clue was when we got our table for 4 that there were only 3 settings and I had to ask for another after we sat down. Their menu is very limited and not very French. When we left I was asked how I liked it and I mentioned that I didn't. He then said "I'm glad you enjoyed it" which shows that he didn't hear me.
Great food and outdoor dining is perfect. Great place have spent our anniversary.
Best service & lovely staff muchas gracias !!! Everything was amazing!!
Wonderful time and exceptional food.
Everything was amazing and we could walk from our hotel! So good going back tonight🥂
We were in Calistoga for my friend’s birthday and decided to have a casual dinner at Evangeline’s to celebrate. She is from a Creole family with Louisiana roots, so she was excited to see Evangeline’s was within walking distance. We arrived and were greeted/seated/waited on by very warm/friendly staff. We sat outside and the ambiance + music was great! The only problem we had was the food. It was salty and lacked authenticity. It also seemed as though quality might be suffering due to Covid food sourcing issues. We had the beet and burrata salad + fried green tomatoes for appetizers, which were both good. We saw a beautiful picture of the scorched avocado on Yelp and decided to order that as well. The avocado wasn’t fresh and it was very small… nothing like the picture. Then for our entrees we ordered shrimp etouffee + gumbo yaya. Both were esthetically pleasing, but taste-wise missed the mark. The roux for both dishes was poor, especially for the gumbo, it was burnt. The included proteins were good though… great andouille in the gumbo + great shrimp in the etouffee! For dessert we ordered the apple tart. It was flavorful, but the entire bottom portion of the crust was burnt. We’d possibly go back, but we’d definitely order different entrees.
Table of four and no one liked their food. I ordered the pork shoulder it was dry and hard barely eaten. I mentioned to server about my meal when we finally saw him and he offered another entree. At this point everyone in my party was finished and ready to leave. No discount offered. We never received refills for $5 cokes and tea either. Over priced and definitely over rated.
It was 99 degrees when we sat down, but the fans and the breeze and the shade made it seem only 80.
The setting was exceptional, the music perfect for Louisiana.
Food was authentic, delicious, the service exceptional.
It was in the high 90’s and the outdoor dining had no fans or water misters, so it was a bit uncomfortable. The melon, cucumber small plate was nice for a hot summer night, but the portion size for the shrimp etouffee dinner was small and was over-spiced. While the waiter was attentive I had difficulty understanding him, so communication could have been better.
Very relaxing outdoor dining experience. Dog friendly:)
Best food and ambiance in Calistoga. Service was fantastic!
Love this place, food and location are wonderful, and service so friendly. It’s a must do when we’re in Calistoga
We had drinks and the peach and prosciutto appetizer. I had the shrimp étouffer and my husband had the steak frite. Everything was delicious. The ambiance is very romantic! Highly recommend!
Drinks are creative and great. Wine pours were very short, especially when paying $19 for a glass of wine. Some of the food was delicious, some bland. We had to return the half-chicken, which was very small (about the size of quail) and over-cooked.
Delicious southern NOLA style food in a beautiful outside patio. The servers were attentive and helpful with suggestions. We will definitely be back soon when we will have dessert too. The cocktails were fabulous after a day of wine tasting.
We felt very rushed throughout the evening, even though they were not very busy.
Nice charcuterie plate as an appetizer, with pâté and saucisson, although it was only served with five crackers, which wasn’t enough for the pâté. The Paloma cocktail was good. My main dish was steak frites, and it was excellent. My wife ordered the roasted chicken and found it a bit dry. The crème brûlée dessert was not good, as it was overcooked and eggy.
The outdoor patio is a very nice dining environment, and the wait staff is attentive and pleasant.
Wendy and Alexis are both very kind and have great service :)
Very romantic, delicious good, good music but not noisy.
The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio and plenty of heaters for evening dining. The staff were polite but quite busy and we had to wait to get someone’s attention on a couple occasions until the restaurant had mostly emptied out. The food and drinks were fine, and generally nothing wrong with either - though I wasn’t offered a taste of my glass of wine which I noticed other tables received. Thought that was odd. However, they have positioned themselves (based on cost) to be a fine dining experience and that is not what this is. We had a burger and creole shrimp dish - all the food was quite average and I didn’t think this place offered good value for money. For that reason, I would be unlikely to return.
Another great time! Nothing but great food , great service and ambiance is super!
Grilled artichoke-lukewarm.Glad I didn’t order dinner until after artichoke.chicken dried out.potatoes tasted like paste.Almost ordered rib eye @$59 thank god I didn’t. Very disappointing meal. Very pricey!
The most boring, bland food. Risotto was just simple boiled watery white rice. Horrible
Food was perfect. Service was excellent, esp. considering the current environment. Everyone was very attentive and responsive.
Breakfast - 3 orders of eggs benedict had to be returned, white of eggs not cooked; second try all the egg were either hard boiled or semi hard boil. They were unable to deliver a properly poached egg from 6 egg attempts. Other than that, the quality of the food was good, it was the delivery where they fell short.
Everything was great except for the table and chairs are located a patio that is not level. Lot’s of rocking.
There was a line to use the restroom the entire evening.
Fantastic experience! We will be back again!
Evangeline has a lovely outdoor patio, with tables spaced far enough away so that conversation is easy. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating, and there are enough choices on the menu to suit pretty much anyone. My daughter and I split an heirloom tomato salad and fried Brussels sprouts to start. The tomatoes were strangely tasteless, but I don't blame the restaurant. The sprouts were crispy and delicious. She had a burger and declared it great, and I had roasted chicken, which was delicious. The mashed potatoes were a tad cool, but not terrible. We really enjoyed our evening!
Enjoyable. No table decoration. No heaters and no blankets for a chilly August evening
Very good food and service. I recommend this restaurant to anyone. We made reservations but also saw several tables open when we arrived but due to shortage of staff, I recommend reservation.
The food was great, reasonably priced for Napa. The outside seating was magical.
