Euphemia Haye - Longboat Key, FL
A signature dish of Euphemia Haye's is the Flambéed Prime Peppered Steak – a trimmed boneless strip steak rolled in cracked peppercorns, pan-fried and served with a hot & sweet orange, brandy, butter sauce. Colin, who has worked with us for over 30 years, flambées each steak in our dining room so our diners can experience the magic of the dish first-hand. When the flames ignite and the sweet, fragrant smell of the brandy sauce and cloves fill the air.
Fresh fish arrives daily while breads, pastas, pies & pastries, stocks & soups, and dressings are hand made with high quality ingredients and care.

Absolutely has the best time and meal here. What an experience. We got there early and decided to grab a drink upstairs at the the bar with live music. Then had a non rushed meal downstairs. Wine, app and food was amazing. Then headed upstairs to their dessert room to enjoy some pie. Highly recommend!!
This is our most favorite restaurant in the area. We go here for every special occasion. The food is outstanding and the ambience is unlike any other. We can’t wait to go back.
This consistently is one of our favorite restaurants! Clark is a great waiter who always helps guide our choices from the many delicious choices. The ambiance is perfect, and and you can't beat the food. We usually eat downstairs, but for a more casual atmosphere and yummy desserts, go upstairs. No reservations upstairs, except if you want to have dessert there after dinner. Then ask your waiter to reserve a table. For a special celebration or just looking for a special meal, Euphemia Haye is the ideal choice.
Waited years to try this place and we were so disappointed. It is way over rated and extremely expensive for the food quality. Our server was less than friendly. He highly recommended the house fish specialty which again was disappointing. I asked him what the strong flavor was and was it curry. He said it could be a seasoning in the croutons used to make the crust on the fish. Any waiter serving an a la carte meal at $37.50 should have known the customer was not happy. He did nothing. At the end of the meal he took my plate with 1/4 of the fish eaten and again said nothing. When he returned I said in a courteous manner the fish was not good. He said you should have told me. We paid and tipped 20%. Shame on us. Please note my first negative review on Open Table after 354 reservations. Not Shane on me twice and to help others.
Great food and service as usual. The desserts upstairs are outstanding. Love this place!
Great place and food. Hard to see from the main road. From the outside doesn't look like much but inside is very nice. Good music on the 2nd floor. Only issue is a older crowd
Superb Caesar salad. The key west snapper is great. Lovely restaurant. The triple berry glaze pie is very good.
Wonderful as always. Always good, always a treat, always special. And this time was no exception. We love this charming restaurant.
Lovely ambiance as our table was overlooking the garden outside. We found the AC to be a bit too cold. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. Entrees were good but both over-sauced. Would come back and try again, however
A wonderful place with excellent food, great ambiance with a local feel
Simple elegance with service found nowhere else in Florida. Perfect Cosmo and Lemon Drop enjoyed by the sisters.
Where else can you find tender sweetbreads?
We did not venture to the dessert room this time but it’s not to be missed.
My wife and I have visited Longboat Key for many years. We have been there before, but this time around our service was terrible, we believe it was not our waiters fault, but he made some comments that the kitchen got screwed up with our order. We waited almost a half and hour of more for our food to show up. Our waiter took our glasses of champagne off the bill, big deal, for waiting to long for our meal. After dinner we were escorted upstairs for our dessert, where we were greeted, and decided on our Key Lime Pie. Delicious, as usual. But the area we sat in next to the slotted door smelled like a bathroom or toilet, GROSS. Maybe something backed up. I dont know. We even heard the hostess upstairs asked the help if the door was closed on a closet or something.
Very disheartening this time around.
Exquisite restaurant! Outstanding food, wonderful service, very friendly. They have the best Duck any where!!! Can’t wait to return for another memorable evening.
Always consistently excellent. Terrific Caesar salad. Outstanding desserts! Value for money.
One of the most romantic places, as well as, absolutely Amazing cuisine!!
Goes on our list for one of our most favorite places ever!
This is a very well establishment restaurant renown for its fine dining, we are from the uk and used to a high level of cuisine, this did not rate highly for us.
The tables are far to close together, a table of 4 was situated beside us and it was so tight the waiter could hardly get in to us without being up against another diner. Hence this also made it rather noisy as all of the adjacent table conversation was louder then ours.
We both ordered snapper with a side of Brussels to share, the Florida way of doing Brussels we really like but I am afraid Mah vista Brussels made these a poor relation .... no where near as good.
The fish was presented with 3 slices of lime and sprinkling of red pepper on top with a piece of parsley .... hmm not exactly setting the world alight with imagination, the fish was coated with a pistachio crust and while this tasted nice it was heavy and dominated the snapper.
The fish was cooked well.
We were served lovely bread , the butter was a bit anaemia looking and pretty tasteless.
The waiting staff were pleasant and very attentive.
Overall we were disappointed, so we left after only one course.
When you are in Longboat Key, you must experience Euphemia Haye's and the Haye Loft. Hands down, the most beautiful dining experience on the key. The desserts in the Haye Loft will boggle your brain and delight your taste buds!
Outstanding food and atmosphere!!!
In town for conference and saw great reviews. Lovely setting but tables crammed together. I had their specialty steak dish which was covered in peppercorns and served in a house sauce. Steak was chewy and over cooked. Sauce was intriguing but black in color paired with a black steak so presentation not appetizing
For the prices they charge I expected more
Best restaurant ever!!! Superb dining experience- every course was amazing. Service was excellent with attention to detail!
Excellent service, great food, in a lovely setting.
The ambiance was horrible. Too crowded, very loud. There was a table of 8 very loud and obnoxious people that ruined the experience for every couple in the room. I ordered their duck that was supposed to be their staple. It was over cooked and so dry that I couldn’t chew or swallow it. I took it home for my dogs and they almost choked on it. Waiter never asked us if our meal was ok. The guy mixing the Caesar salad was doing it with his bare hands. I definitely made sure I didn’t order the Caesar salad after seeing that. Definitely not worth the price we paid in any aspect.
A wonderful unique experience. Atmosphere is great. The best place for a romantic date not out. Go ahead and have the duck. It is amazing. Don't forget yo go upstairs for an amazing dessert.
I proposed to my wife here 12 years ago. It was great to finally get back there to have another meal together. The place is great, just as I remembered. Unfortunately I don't really remember the food on our first visit but it was spectacular this time!! Key West Snapper is Highly Recommended! The "dessert" upstairs always comes highly recommended as well. We will deff be back, hopefully sooner than 12 years from now. :-)
Very romantic and the food was delicious.
Food was amazing an the service as well ...
Very satisfying experience. Service was prompt and attentive. Our meals were superb. I like the concept of having dessert separately. There isn’t a desert that I wouldn’t order- all phenomenal. Best of all, we met the owner/chef- he cares.
We always come here for a lovely relaxing meal. This time the Peppered Steak was perfectly cooked and the German Lamb Shank was delectable. The pear and pecan salad was wonderful. And of course, the caesar salad was as good as ever. Just wish we lived in the area so we could visit more often.
Bartenders were great and musicians were excellent.
We didn’t get our table until about 20 minutes after our reservation time (8:30) so it was quite a late dinner.
Loved the Waldorf style salad...one of the best salads we’ve ever had. The duck was just OK. Maybe it was great and I just really don’t love duck. The peppered steak that others ordered around us looked amazing and we will try that next time.
Enjoyed our time there and will definitely return.
Must try the dessert room upstairs.
Euphemia Haye is an expensive restaurant, but the quality of its food and its overall ambience make it a good choice for a special celebration. We had a window table overlooking the garden which added to the experience. The Key West Snapper and Scallops California entrees were excellent. Our appetizers (Zucchini Fettuccini and Sweet n' Spicy Shrimp) were good, but perhaps over-priced. We had coffee upstairs in the Haye Loft, which was OK, and a portion of Key Lime Pie to go, which was excellent. Overall, we had an enjoyable night out. We'll definitely be back.
great food and ambiance and service. a unique florida restaurant that should not be missed. a bit on the expensive side but not so different form all the other same tier restaurants locally....but this one has the good food and ambiance that you won't get elsewhere. go and give it a try on a special occasion or any occasion for that matter.
They are known for their roasted duck and it is the best I have ever eaten. Even if you never try anything else on the menu, you much give Euphemia Haye's duck a go.
What an amazing place! From the minute we walked thru the door every person we came in contact with was wonderful. Our server was the best. . .he clearly loved what he was doing and that made our dining experience so enjoyable. Cannot wait to return for another amazing meal.
Haven't been there in many years, but up from Naples for the weekend. I love the place and the atmosphere. The service is professional and outstanding. I hate to say it, but the only disappointment was the food. Although we split a tuna sashimi appetizer (which was pleasantly and nicely split by the kitchen) which was simply superb, we both ordered the lamb shanks -- one of my favorite dishes. OK, it was huge and it was fall off the bone tender as should be. But sadly so far as I could tell it was seasoned with salt, pepper, and maybe a little added beef stock -- that's all. I was hoping for the "Greek" angle as mentioned. Flavors of garlic, oregano, maybe rosemary, bay leaves, and some tomato would have been wonderful. Frankly it was just kind of bland. We do a little family Greek place from time to time and the lamb shanks are just spectacular, so I guess I was hoping for a lot more flavor. Clearly next time we'll order something else. One other minor quibble -- I get that they are providing atmosphere with flaming those steaks in the small dining room, but we went off to the theatre reeking of the smell of the "burnt" Worschestershire. And watching the guy make Caesar salads then picking up the croutons that had fallen off onto the counter and putting them back on top of the salads seemed a bit "off" for such a place. Maybe it was our mistake. Perhaps when a server says "we are known for our steak and the duck" we should have stuck with one of those -- was he telling us "don't get the lamb shank, it's not very good?"
Spencer helped make my birthday dinner even more special. Thank you so much to all, we always have such a wonderful dining experience.
We were at a small table in the corner. A table of six came in and sat next to us! They were so close we had to move plates on our table as they moved about visiting each other. They were so noisy, we cut our dinner short and left. We were very unhappy. Euphemia is one of our favorite places to go when we visit here. Too bad we couldn’t enjoy it like we were hoping!
Best restaurant in the Sarasota area! If you have room after a scrumptious meal, head upstairs to the desserts.
