Service was adequate only. Maybe because there is no incentive w/auto service charge. Chicken really dry, corn bread w/salmon was weird, portions were small. Only one portion of cod available at 5:30???? Have had good experiences in the past. This time not so much
Etta's never disappoints!! The Calamari was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce. The Spinach salad will have anyone wanting to eat their veggies!! Rockfish was perfectly seared and accompanied with the best brussel sprouts!! The seafood stew is curry based at this time and a perfect blend of savory seafood and spicy broth!! The service is impeccable, food will indulge your palate and the drinks refreshing!! A must try in Seattle
The worst service ever. Did not get our food until 35 mins later.
It was a great time!
Very fun & delicious place to eat.
I do wish the salmon was a bigger portion for the price.
Etta’s has been a favorite restaurant for us. It’s been several years since we were there. The menu changed but still superb. Excellent service.
Great food and wine. This restaurant never disappoints. Will definitely return. Best coconut pie, yummy.
Great food, ambiance and service. Had calamari and grilled octopus for appetizers; both were very good but the octopus was excellent. Had the seafood stew, which was really good. Usually, it is difficult to taste the seafood in such stews but this was well done such that the seafood was not completely smothered by the sauce.
Always a good bet for seafood in Seattle. Had the Halibut and it was delicious! Service was spot on, thank you!
Very good taste. Oysters were also very good. Wait staff very helpful. I like oysters and these were good oysters. I don't like some seafood and liked all of this seafood.
Server was fantastic. Food came rather slowly. Taste was great!
The one thing that threw us off was the lack of birthday treat that has always happened at every other decent restaurant we have been to.
Hi, I am so sorry we didn't get your birthday dessert. We are honored when people choose Etta's for their special occasions and we like to celebrate with you. I'd like to send you a gift card for dessert to use next time you dine in one of our restaurants. My apologies, Gretchen
I hate to even write this, but Open Table asked so......here you go.
Perhaps I had too many high expectations from a Tom Douglas place. As a die-hard fan of Palace Kitchen and Dahlia Lounge, I thought we would try out his star seafood restaurant on a Wednesday night. As you may know, the 20% tip is automatically included in the bill and that’s perfectly fine and well if the service is decently above average. Although the server was cordial and friendly, the experience was painfully slow. Slow to take our order, slow to get our drinks, painfully slow to get our bill. In fact, we had to flag her down after having sat at an empty table for nearly 15 minutes. The food was..... well in comparison to the other Douglas enterprises, I am saddened to report it was.....terribly bland and mediocre. A small, dry piece of salmon (no sauces) on a pile of shredded, unseasoned brussel sprouts and the smallest piece of cornbread pudding.
For a proper Tom Douglas dining experience, I’m sticking with the Palace Kitchen. I’ve never been disappointed there. The service and food is always utter perfection. I’m sorry to say, Etta’s just fell short all around.
Quiet Sunday night. Waiter was friendly and prompt. Food served too fast, we barely had our drinks in hand. Although my burger was well prepared, it was nothing special - not even a piece of lettuce, onion or tomato. My husband’s fried oysters and chips were over cooked and tasteless - he thought they may have been frozen even though we were assured they were fresh. Both dishes were served with an over abundance of string fries that were hot, but lackluster. Just an unappetizing bunch of stuff on a plate.
Good selections of fresh seafood and local items, the location is great! Good evening.
Thanks for dining with us!
Noisy. I figured it would be busy during Restaurant week, but folks are flat out screaming at each other to be heard above the conversation from adjacent tables. While the food was good, as usual, the noise level would prevent me from recommending Etta's to anyone looking to enjoy a nice dinner with friends.
I love this place! My wife and I have dined here twice, a year apart. Both times we were served by Andrea, and she remembered us! That was a great personal touch to our experience. Best fish and chips and calamari I’ve ever had in my life. Service was prompt and welcoming, food was excellent, the atmosphere was clean and ambient, and we will definitely be back!
I think I caught a night where the food was not at the top of its game. Mashed potatoes were a little gluey, brussel sprouts were delish but very heavy on the oil. A tender whitefish was paired with a puttanesca sauce that overwhelmed the fish. Great ambience and wine list, even better service. A good place to go.
Thanks for bringing the quality to our attention it is truly appreciated. Best, Etta's
Excellent Crab Cakes! The New York steak wasn't great, a bit grisly, not worth the $. I will definitely return
The prices at Etta's have gone through the roof. Two brunch dishes and two coffees plus gratuity came to more than $60.00! This is a bit outrageous--the food was fine but not worth these prices. I won't be going back soon.
The food was excellent this evening and our server, Andrea, was equally skilled at her guidance with the nuances of the dinners and wine pairing. We very much look forward to our next visit to Seattle and dining at Etta’s.
Thank you for coming in!
I rarely eat out, but I have eaten at Etta's occasionally over the years, and my experience has been dependably excellent, whether I am entertaining family members or being treated to birthday lunch. Yesterday I had a crab cake and my husband had the Northwest seafood stew, both really wonderful.
Barbara was everything one could want in perfection as a server. I loved the rockfish and mashed potatoes with olive oil. Delish! Richard had halibut - also perfect! Love the Pike Place area❤️
The best dungeness crab cakes you will find anywhere. All meat and a lite crispy crust. SOOO good.
Took a friend for a birthday dinner and got a table by the window (without requesting it) which was nice. We hadn't seen each other for awhile so took some time to catch up before ordering, and weren't rushed at all by our server. We did a dozen raw oysters to start (3 different types), and then I had the King Crab Legs and he had the 'Seattle Restaurant Week' fixed menu for $35. All was delicious. I hadn't been there in years, but now will definitely go back more often.
We are so happy you had such a great experience. Thank you for coming in!
We have previously enjoyed Ettas, but this visit (brunch) was disappointing because the eggs were really cold, the sauces were served in little paper cups (strangely unelegant given the price point and the ambience), and the food was overpriced (almost 80$ essentially for breakfast, no alcohol). Also, the cook could not really modify any dishes so I could eat them (I am allergic to garlic and onion)
That said, the service was excellent, and we do love their coconut cream pie.
Hi Hanna, Thank you for letting us know about your experience last weekend. I am sorry about your breakfast coming out cold, that should not happen. I want you to know we do take allergies very seriously and take as many precautions as we can to make sure we don't put anyone at risk. Please reach out to me privately so I can make sure your next visit is better. Best, Gretchen
A classic seattle brunch spot in the market! Great service and food!
Always put Etta’s on my list of “must go” when I’m in town and for clients. Excellent choice for drinks and everything from the smaller plates-starters to the entries I have never had anything but a delightful and wonderful meal and experience. I have to also give a strong shout out just for the service, I mean everyone. Whatever the training is or client focused attitude or just spot on for hiring it’s a delight to just sit down and enjoy the time! Many thanks KD
Good overall, but while I expected the 20% automatic service charge I don’t agree with it in principle !
Went for an early dinner at Etta’s based on decent reviews and the advertised Crabby Hour. The Crabby hour has couple of less expensive things but most things on Crabby hour menu at the regular price. Had some oysters. Most were good but my guest got a bad one. She mentioned this to the server but he made no attempt to make up for it. My guest had the salmon with the special rub. Was kind of dry when it came even though cooked medium rare. Had very little flavor. I had the halibut which was a small piece and very dry. The carrot purée helped but not enough. The green beans on both of our plates were inedibly sour. Service ok except for problem with oyster. House Chardonnay by the glass is terrible.
Very slow service. Reservation was for 11:45 and was seated on time, however food didn’t arrive until 12:30. Food was just okay. Fish piece with combo was very small. Coleslaw was bland. After waiting so long, fries were cold. Manager gave us a gift card but not likely we will go back to Etta’s.
The prices were high given what I ate. $60 for two people? Now if my waiter or waitress was more attentive, if you had bread or something with the meal - yeah. Too many fries. Food was excellent. Way easy to book a table. Hostess was friendly
Andrea was our server and she was awesome. Food and service were exceptional. Will definitely return next trip to Seattle,
Salmon was just mediocre-crab cake was not flavorful although the sauce and potatoes accompanying it were very good. Food was lukewarm. Prices were very high for quality of food. Server was also lukewarm-not overtly friendly or welcoming. Was very disappointed in our visit.
I am sorry we let you down with the food and service on Monday night. I appreciate that you took the time to let us know. Please message me back directly. Sincerely, Gretchen
I did not like the upfront requirement of a 20% tip automatically being added to the bill!
The best crab cake I have ever tasted and the coconut cream pie is absolutely amazing. If in Seattle definitely go wonderful food and ambience.
Out of town company who wanted Seafood
Came here for lunch with the wife. Had a great time!
Food: Ordered the crab cake (local favorite), fish fry combo (fish, shrimp, oysters), and the seafood stew (laksa curry stew with roti). Crab cake was amazing as expected, but what I surprisingly really enjoyed was the bacon/corn succotash underneath the cake. Wow! I could eat a place of that on it's own. The fish fry was solid. Fries had a pretty good texture. They are what Dick's fries would aspire to be. The seafood stew had lots of flavors and was loaded with seafood. The roti was the only downside to the meal. Roti is typically used to soak up the broth, but in this case it was fried and wasn't great at soaking up the broth. Food was delicious and this place is worth checking out for the food alone.
Service: Great service from both the host and our server. Very friendly and the right amount of attention!
Ambiance: We had come after the typical lunch time so it was a bit quieter. We liked that, so it was very pleasant for us. I can imagine it being much louder if even half the tables were filled. The large windows look out to a nice view of the Sound and the busy street that leads to Pike Place Market. This is a nice and comfortable setting to enjoy a meal.
All in all a great meal and would definitely recommend!
Thank you for coming in for lunch we are so happy you had a great time!
apparently there was an equipment malfunction which we learned of as we were leaving the restaurant. This may have been the reason service was so slow. Our meals arrived haphazardly after a very long wait. My fish was so so. I was disappointed in the quality as friends had given such rave reviews.
We love this restaurant and come here virtually every time we come to Seattle. My only complaint is with the 20% mandatory add on to cover employee benefits, etc. Wow we usually tip 20% anyway, it is based on our own decision and the quality of service. We would certainly have given our wait person 20% as she was great But don’t like to be forced to do so, particularly if a waiter or white person does not provide good service. I can’t help but believe that this policy is hurting business and/or driving complacency.
