Etta's Seafood Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I were in town and wanted to experience great seafood. We found it at Etta's. We had a great seat looking down the street to the ferris wheel. Oysters were fantastic, rubbed salmon was excellent (the corn bread too), but my wife's seafood stew was exceptional. We look forward to coming back to repeat, and maybe trying the bread pudding or chocolate swiss roll!
Simply superb, in every way. All three of us decide to try the "Fish Fry," which none of us had had before, and we all chose the true cod (other choices were shrimp and oysters and maybe one other I can't remember). I've NEVER had such good lightly-fried fish -- the cod literally melted in my mouth. The fries were perfectly crispy and salty and the aioli with them was delicious, and the cole slaw was unusual and not too heavily dressed and heavenly-tasting -- I ate every bite. We also shared a plate of the brussels sprouts with crispy garlic on top and they were so good, we ordered another plate. Service, as always, was exceptional -- not intrusive, perfectly timed. Yay Etta's!
We were seated next to the window which made for, at times, entertaining pedestrian traffic.
The clam chowder is the best I've ever "supped".
Only complaint would be the built in gratuity. Our waiter wouldn't have garnered 20% from us & we're generous tippers.
I cannot say enough good things about our dinner at Etta's. When we arrived the hostess was wonderful and so friendly. Our server was attentive, friendly and perfect with timing. The bartender even came and brought out drinks and he was pretty funny. The food was delicious. Started with the 1/2 dozen oysters, then for our main course we did the risotto with crab cakes, mushrooms and the appetizer sashimi. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted so fresh.
Our waitress was outstanding in suggesting food we could share at lunch to taste the Tom Douglas specialty seafood dishes which were all amazing. She certainly contributed to our overall good experience at this restaurant. Highly recommend food and service!
My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary with an early dinner after touring the art museum. Everyone who served us from the hostess to the waiter was fabulous and knowledgable. My husband had the scallops and I had the black cod; both were excellent. We split the quince and apple cobbler with bay leaf ice cream for dessert; amazing!
While the location near the Public Market is good, and the place is something of an icon for seafood, we found it getting tired and the food to be a bit by formula. Not bad, but neither special. Priced as special. It was as slow night, and quiet, however tables are very close, when crowded this may be annoying.
Came early for a 9;:30 reservation and were seated early by the friendly hostess. Server was nice but forgot appetizer. Room is tired and desperately in need of updating. Food ok but pricey. Have been before for brunch and loved it...
Honestly I expected more from a Tom Douglas property
Waitress forgot our appetizer after explaining that she doesn’t write anything down. Meal was overpriced and not tasty at all. 3 scallops for $25. A dry burger with sparse promised condiments for $18.50. A flavorless tough steak for $35. Etta’s used to be reliable, but Tom Douglas needs to visit his restaurants more often. Then they told open table we didn’t show up! Won’t go back.
Last couple of times I was there they really dropped the ball. The benedicts were overcooked, the crabcakes had almost no crab meat. so I let a year pass before going back. This time I was happy with the portions, the eggs were poached perfectly and overall the food was better. The Bavarian meat bacon is really good. Worth going for brunch for sure.
We have been enjoying brunch at Etta's for year's. My husband always orders the crabs egg benedict and loves it! I am disappointed that the pike market scramble is no longer on the menu. It was my go to. But I like Etta's enough to keep coming back for more.
Waiter was distracted but nice. Didn’t care for location of our table but they were too busy to move us even though we had a reservation. The food presentation was sloppy. I eat here quite often and was disappointed overall in this particular Saturday night.
I had a horrible experience at this Resturant. The hostess we great when we arrived. However, our waitress was forgetful and impolite. I had to ask for water and silverware two time for her to forget the lemons. I order shrimp which was over cooked and my guest ordered salmon which was dried out. The emphasis was placed on the 20% mandatory gratuity vs quality service. I ordered a hot tea and she forgot the tea bag, sugar, and honey. We only received hot water. Horrible night , not a good choice.
