Always wonderful and delicious! Had an absolutely amazing lobster, grapefruit and avocado salad to start, followed by perfectly cooked halibut with ratatouille.
Everything was excellent as always. Annie, the hostess, is a true gem. Always alert to all her guests. The tartare de boeuf was excellent. The moules mariniere were a little strong but my husband loved them. Great neighborhood place.
Wonderful food! And great service
Fabulous food, wine and service- as always. Chef Phillipe and his staff create and serve immaculate dishes. One of our favorite dining venues in Houston!
My favorite neighborhood spot. Food is superb and service friendly and knowledgeable. They always welcome you like family. I love it!
Construction in the immediate area of the restaurant makes self-parking somewhat difficult, but the food and service are worth tipping the valet for parking your car.
Our group of four enjoyed appetizers of Steak Tartare, Escargots Bourguignonne, and Soupe a l'Oignon. Entrees included the Sole Amandine, a roasted Salmon, and another fish dish. While Adnan, our server, had provided excellent service, Didi came by to suggest a wine for us, and he picked a wonderful Burgundy, but he's never recommended anything but wonderful wines for us--he knows his wines! Our only disappointment on this visit was that the restaurant had sold out of mussels just before we arrived.
I really like that place. It reminds me of some small restaurants of France. Elegant, clean, excellent service, nice atmosphere but above all, good food. We can feel the love of the cook in the food preparation that we eat.
Well, what else can I say? Oh yes, that I recommend this French restaurant.
My several experiences were for lunch only but I am sure that dinner should even be greater...
This restaurant is so incredible!
This is some of the best service that I️ have had in a restaurant in a long time. All the staff with whom we interacted were excellent!
Some things on the menu are good, but a few of the classics need work. The Coq Au Vin needs the wine to be cooked down a bit more to soften the bitterness of the alcohol in the wine. The best Coq Au Vin in town was at Max & Julie's which unfortunately closed down. You guys need to track down the chef from there and add him/her to your staff.
The mushroom-leek soup is a sure winner and should be a regular item on the menu along with Soufflés.
The food was excellent - wonderful snapper. Service was also very good with timings to suit requirements - not too rushed but if you wanted a quick meal you could have had it. Extensive and extremely well-chosen wine list with some hidden gems. Overall an extremely proficient and professionally-run restaurant.
Ali, our waiter , was as always great. He is an asset for Etoile .
It was our family Easter brunch. Everything was perfect. I love the fact that we could have great conversation without having to shout. It’s definitely one our family favorites.
Easter Brunch was great! Holidays are sometimes hit or miss. They hit it. Food was delicious and so were the drinks. I'm not from Houston and this was a pleasant surprise for my family. We had to spend time away from family and friends. Almost as good as being home.
Excellent food (Sole was fresh and perfect) impeccable service.
We met friends there and we all ordered something different. I had the braised short ribs which were delicious and the portion was just right. Then I had my favorite dessert, profiteroles which were wonderful. The service was attentive but not intrusive and paced
correctly, even though they were quite busy. We will definitely return.
Although we love Etoile, this was our second consecutive visit in which our meal was extremely rushed. With two courses, they had us in and out in 45 minutes (!) despite there being several available tables. As always, the food was very good. Nevertheless, the mushroom ravioli starter, which previously included 3 ravioli for $15, now has only two ravioli--definitely not a good value. Given all of the other wonderful French restaurants in Houston, not certain how quickly we will return.
Outstanding food, one of our favorites in the city
The food was excellent and very tasty. As good as the food was, the service was even better. Our waiter (Isidro) was very extremely knowledgeable about both the food and the wine to pair with it. The monthly dinner special had both fish and red meat courses, the wine recommendations matched the food perfectly. His service was very attentive without being obtrusive.
Incredible service - they pay attention, check on you and don't interrupt. Such elegant and professional service makes it even more lovely to enjoy the fine, but not fussy, dining experience. The chef is a genius, from the simple items expected of a restaurant with a French twist, to the creative use of seasonal items. Lovely experience on a Sunday Afternoon Brunch. You don't need to dress up, though chic or business would be appropriate. A favorite for my little gentleman dog, Wilson, for Sunday Brunch on the shaded patio.
Food was delicious and food was great. They went above and beyond to accommodate our drink requests and were very helpful with decision making.
I would rate Etoile in my Top 5 restaurants in Houston. The service is excellent and the chef will adjust and adapt any recipe to suit your taste buds.
Great place and delicious meals. Too bad they close at 3pm
Always leave happy and satisfied. Great food and atmosphere!
Fantastic lunch with my wife for our anniversary. The food is so delicious, and the service is attentive without being intrusive. We had the Sole and the Vegetable Risotto. Both were so tasty. Plus, the atmosphere is beautiful. This is a great restaurant that doesn’t get the hype of the more well-known places, but I think it’s as good as any in the city.
The best of the best! Not all of us live in Houston - but this is our go to place for dinner - we close the restaurant down. Cuisine is on point and the waiters are so delightful.
Consistently good food and good service
Dinner for 5. Everything was delicious. Fit for foodies. You must go and the Mushroom Ravioli is to die for!
Everything was perfect except that some of the meals were a little bit salty
Excellent food, one of the best I can remember. The appetizers were great also.
Wine was incredible.
Service was impeccable and the environment was quiet enough for a good conversation.
I was very impressed with the whole experience. Best restaurant I have been in the last 5 years.
I absolutely recommend it
I was with a party of very discerning diners. Everyone raved about the food and restaurant!
We love Etoile. Whether a weeknight or special occasion it never disappoints.
Our waiter, Dede, is one of the best. Helped to make our evening so enjoyable.
Excellent chef who prepares a variety of specials that are always superb.
We love it! The duck and beef tartar is superb! We try to visit every week or two
Absolutely the best food and overall experience. LOVE Etoile!
Excellent dishes, panned foie gras delicious! Scallops...wow. Our French waiter was a treat, engaging. Great wine list. Pricey, but will return for sure.
Always wonderful. Service and food always outstanding. My favorite place to dine in Houston.
Great service at the bar and at the table. Friendly and helpful staff top to bottom. Warm and inviting atmosphere. I appreciated the wine list and the discussion regarding wines that they had available. We went with the sommelier’s recommendation and completely enjoyed a Bordeaux I’ve not tried before. We enjoyed two starters, the escargot and the mushroom raviolis. The Mushroom raviolis was fantastic. If I’m shopping in the area this weekend, I’ll make a quick stop just for the mushroom raviolis and a glass of wine. For the main course, our table enjoyed the catch of the day (which I enjoyed tremendously) and the beef tenderloin (which received a rave review at the table).
I’m certainly going back.
