The food here is amazing! Everything was excellently spiced, the tea was delicious, and the fish was perfectly fried. The only issue was the service. We were seated very quickly, but our meal took over 2 hours. The appetizers came shortly after we ordered, but it was over an hour until our entrée arrived. When it was time to pay the bill, we couldn't get a hold of our waitress and had to ask the manager to take our check.
Food was great and the service was excellent. We will be going back.
Food was excellent. They give you more than you could possibly eat at one sitting! Decor could use a little attention but other than that, a great find for authentic Ethiopian food.
Fantastic experience, as always. I very much appreciate the high quality of the food, in addition to the warm, attentive service.
LOVE the food at Diamond! I could live off their entire vegetarian menu and I am not even a vegetarian. I really think they have some of the best Ethiopian food in Chicago. The service was awkward, and it was VERY slow. Pleasant staff, but they didn't give much direction when we were seated. Also, when we were finished the server sort of shamed us for not wanting to take the leftover food with us. LOVE the food, but only go when I can tolerate the service there.
Always a great experience. Food is delicious, the staff is warm and friendly.
Very good. Menu can be a bit intimidating for first timers, but not to worry, the waiter will tell you what to eat 😀
AMAZING! food was just out of this earth, we had lamb and beef, it came accompanied with a smoky pea "babaganush", salad and collard greens! We were 2 at the table food could've serve 3-4 easily! They have a cool variety of beer, including a red ale African beer that was amazing! Colorful, vibrant place and the people working there the nicest!! Really!!! GO!! Worth it! Could start going once a month at least forever! Haha
Delicious savory dishes that don't disappoint
Large portions. Be ready to feast!
Excellent food. Helpful and attentive waitstaff. Will return.
Excellent food! We come back over and over again with family and friends.
Ethiopian diamond has outstanding customer service & the food is deliciously flavorful! It's the perfect place for those who prefer gluten free and even vegetarians! I recommend the Yebeg Tibs Alicha if you like lamb. I also love the tea as well!
Such a wonderful friendly and delicious restaurant. All the food was amazing and such a fun experience to eat with ones hands and learn a little about Ethiopian cuisine.
First time visit. Definitely will return. The meat and veggie sampler was very good. Next time would focus more on favorites like the lamb and chicken, and less on the veggies. The injera bread less sour than other places (a plus in my book). Try the Tusker Lager. Excellent service.
This visit was my first to Ethiopian Diamond, but it certainly will not be my last! The food was delicious ,the ambience was tranquil and the staff was lovely and attentive. FYTP (For your tasting pleasure) I would suggest everyone try the "Honey Wine" ....A winner ;-)
Enjoy
Excellent food
I liked the concept of sharing food in Ethiopian restaurants. Food was great esp lamb and shrimp dishes.
Not many Ethiopian restaurants, but this is certainly one of the best.
We usually order delivery from Ethiopian Diamond, but had an occasion to go to their Broadway location. Love the ambiance, food, service, etc. We had the vegetarian dinners for two. Delicious appetizers and the meal was outstanding.
Ethiopian diamond is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Chicago! It's the best one I've been to! The food is wonderful. It comes out quick and hot. The tastes are incredible. The service is lovely and the servers are so nice.
The honey wine was so good and there was so much to go around! Even the food was way too much for just two people. Come ready to eat!
I was in town for a short visit and wanted a nice, interesting place to meet up with some friends. Making a reservation was easy, and the restaurant was not too full (but not completely empty) on a Wednesday night. Service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing, food was delicious (although you should familiarize yourself with Ethiopian cuisine ahead of time, as the menu is not easily readable for someone who doesn't know what they're ordering), atmosphere was delightful. Location was also VERY convenient from public transportation, and easy to find for an out-of-towner.
Took my daughter and husband sonthey could try a new cuisine. Everyone loved it. We ordered a sampler platter for 2 even though there were 3 of us. We had plenty. The others also ordered a salad. My one disappoinent was the service. The server was friendly bit not very attentive and no one explained what we were eating. Also we had to request that ahe bring our drinks. For some reason she wanted to serve them with the entrees and not the appetizer. I looked around and other tables received theirs right away!
Always fabulous!!!
Love the vegetarian sampler and the chocolate dessert!
Friendly staff, decent food - not much ambiance but a good environment for groups.
Very nice dinner and they were very sweet to light a candle and bring a cake for my son's birthday.
I've been here several times and the food is always delicious. It's a smaller venue so it can be a little loud when they're full, but that's not unexpected. Very nice place overall and highly recommended.
We brought seven kids to try Ethiopian food as part of their Modern History class. Danny was FANTASTIC helping us order. He also took extra time to be sure our allergy concerns were addressed. Everyone was so helpful and the food was terrific!
Absolutely wonderful.
Went with a table of five, most of whom had never eaten Ethiopian food. The waiter was patient and explained every dish and how much we should order for the table. The food came on a large round tray and everyone shared and sampled everything. The amount of food served was perfect for our group and we had a very enjoyable time. Definitely will be returning to this restaurant!
Great food. Friendly staff. We are here every few months and love the food. This is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Chicago. The only thing to avoid are their cocktails - just not their strong suit. Stick to the Ethiopian beer.
We live in the neighborhood and go to Ethiopian Diamond several times a year. We really like the good service, pleasant people and really good foo. It is consistently good.
Good food, very good service, easy street parking.
Service was great. Went with a group of friends for my birthday and completely enjoyed the experience. They even brought me a birthday desert without anyone mentioning it. Restaurant is clean and well appointed. I would definitely recommend for a group dinner or special occasion.
This restaurant has vegetarian options and these are not just meat dishes with the meat removed, they are actually well made vegetables and injera bread.
We LOVE Ethiopian Diamond. Food is always delicious, staff is amazing and friendly. Have never had a bad meal here.
Fantastic! It's my Kids' favorite place to eat! My six year old learned to eat spicy food here and my ten year old loves the collard greens.
Food generally very good; dessert and coffee so-so; tea excellent. Music was overloud and overbassed, and not the least bit Ethiopian.
