Etcetera Etcetera Ratings and Reviews
The service was great! The wait staff was very responsive, they acted almost immediately whenever something needed tending too. They would clear away empty dishes as soon as we were finished and if we needed anything replaced or refilled, the staff reacted instantly
Etcetera, Etcetera was excellent. Made reservation on line from Maryland. Was confirmed twice - on-line and direct phone call. Friendly hospitality from entire staff. Attentive host and waiter. Everyone enjoyed food and wine. Timely reminder of theater start time. Recommend for all non-New Yorker theater guests.
I have eaten here several times with a large group of friends before the theatre. The service is always great, food delicious and they manage to accommodate theatre people without making you feel rushed.
I met a friend for dinner there the other evening. Once again, they didn’t disappoint!
Easily the finest Italian cuisine restaurant in Manhattan, and arguably the best in Hell’s Kitchen. Everything I had on several occasions was exceptionally good. I especially recommend the white and black sesame crusted roasted salmon, the gluten-free tagliatelle and the risotto with chanterelles, white asparagus, sweet peas and pecorino. The presentation was top notch and mmmh… it tasted so good!
A great location and wonderful atmosphere! We all remarked how great it was to talk at a conversational level at a busy restaurant. I was disappointed by the number of gluten free options on the menu (and all were pasta dishes). I was also surprised to get soggy, whole sage leaves in my "butter and sage" sauce rather than chopped, crispy sage in a true browned butter pasta sauce. At any rate, I won't be back because of the limited options for me but the rest of the people in our party thought the food was great and would recommend.
Food and ambiance were okay. Service needs some work, as there was not a dedicated server for our table. This lead to many unnecessary questions asked by the waitstaff and questions we had as guests were answered differently depending on who you spoke to, i.e. if the salmon was wild caught.
Food was awesome! I ordered the chicken breast and my boyfriend had the snapper. Dessert was great. We ordered the apple tart. Thank you so much for the personal gesture on our dessert plate for our anniversary. We will definitely be back. Everything was great!
We arrived on time, but there was no table for us in the restaurant, despite having a reservation for 2+ months. We were seated in an overflow room upstairs furnished with temporary tables, and staffed with what appeared to be temporary waiters who knew nothing about the wine list or the food. The waiters started removing the tables as we were eating since everyone else in the room had left. We asked to be re-seated in the main dining room, which they did. Service and enjoyment improved. The manager "heard" my complaint about how poorly our reservation had been handled, and has invited me to come back, which I hope to do soon. Mistakes happen, and the place seems eager to make it up to me. Stay tuned for updates.
PS. The ratings for this review apply to the upstairs room, not the main dining room.
My friend and I found ourselves in NYC without a reservation or a good idea as to where to go for dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving. One of the bartenders we were talking to suggested using the Open Table app. So, I loved the name etc etc for an Italian restaurant and we were able to make a reservation at 8:15, only 30 minutes later. We only had to wait a few minutes for our table, everything we ordered was delicious and arrived in good time, and the servers were terrific.
We were there for thanksgiving and one of our party was late arriving from a flight into JFK. By the time we arrived we had missed our reservation. However, after a short wait the manager was able to accommodate us in an already crowded restaurant. All attendees complimented on their meals the leg of lamb was great and tasty. The ribeyes were excellent. The servers were attentive but not constantly interrupting our conversations. The Brussels sprouts side dish was outstanding , well cooked and tender.
We had the cornish game hen and the salmon. Both were excellent. The waiter also selected a superb wine for me. It was easy to hear each other (and I am hard of hearing). They made sure that we were served and got our bill in time to make our show at the Majestic (which is very close).
For a pre-theater dining experience, this restaurant can't be beat. Also good enough to be a destination dinner . Service was excellent and attentive. Requests were filled immediately.
Five huge scallops were perfectly cooked, chicken milanese was a huge portion and the green lasagna was delicious. Cookie bitesd were delivered with the bill. Will go back many times.
We chose Etcetera for a family gathering before the theater based on its location and the ability to reserve far in advance. We wound up pleasantly impressed with the menu and the quality of the food here. The pasta dishes were excellent, and the salads fresh. Complimentary cookies came with our coffee. I arrived early from out of town by train and was seated immediately while waiting for my other guests. The sound level did build up as the place filled, and personally I could do without the techno background music, but we could still have a conversation. All in all, it was a better than good choice for a meal in this busy district.
The waitstaff was very attentive.
The GF spinach RAVIOLI WAS DELICIOUS, but I really missed having some GF bread to go with my meal. Also, I would have loved to order a side dish, but again, no GF options. I left hungry.
Advertising gluten free is great, but a FULL GF dinner would be nice.
We three visited here for pre-theatre dinner. Arriving at 5 pm for a 7:30 show we had a choice of tables and make the mistake of choosing one in the back which ended up being next to a busy area where the utensils and napkins were stored. I would get a table closer to the front next time.
The food and drinks were all quite good. The green lasagna was excellent. The gnocchi with truffles was extremely well made. The spaghetti with lump crab meat was fine -- excellent pasta but a bit lacking in the crab.
The desserts were all good...nothing remarkable but tasty. The service was excellent but the ambiance was a bit lower than it otherwise would be just because the layout is quite crowded, so 4 stars there.
All in all it was good food and service at a good price. I would go back.
