Waitress took drink order before everyone was seated. (Husband was parking and son was using the facilities.) Rather than serve drinks to those at the table waiting she waited for everyone else to be seated first. As the drinks sat for more than 5 minutes on the bar she then came over and ID’d my son. This was a huge insult to me personally because it implies I would order a drink for an underage child. Its embarrassing. Like who would pick a place like Et Voila to sneak minors inside for the purpose of drinking? It’s one thing to card when everyone is seated together and all drink orders are placed at the same time , but it’s another thing when a customer orders in advance to save the waitress time especially when it’s obvious the party is compromised of two senior adults and their over 21 aged son. We ate lunch at the National Harbor earlier and he wasn’t IDd. We went to Black Salt afterwards so I could eat and he wasn’t carded. We are frequent diners at Et Voila and have even had holiday family dinners there. To avoid this in the future I will never maximize convenience and order drinks in advance. Likewise, your staff should refuse advance drink orders if they are going to question the integrity of the person who was ordering for drinkers who weren’t present. Or you ID everyone. At the end of the day her actions implied I was a liar. Or, a bad mom that would serve alcohol to my minor child in public. Since there is no consistency across our experience at Et Voila during other visits or at our most recent experience at other restaurants then ID’ing can’t simply be policy. There’s a fair amount of personal judgment involved. The way she executed her personal judgment put my moral integrity into question. I no longer felt respected by her as a customer or person. It was needlessly unpleasant. Worse, at the end of the night when I used the facility she went up to my son at the table and asked if everything was alright behind my back. He was embarrassed.

We probably should have realized that a restaurant in the Palisades would cater to a certain age range, but wow…we were the youngest people there by at least 30 years. The place is a little rundown, very cramped, and the food just simply wasn’t good. My pasta was way over l-cooked and the butter for the bread was rock solid. Will not return.

You are very restrictive. My wife wanted some pecans in her salad(it comes with a different salad so you have them) and they said no. Then I ordered salmon done thru. It came raw inside which turned my stomach. Yes they did order another one and it was well done and not the same like I always have(we’ve been there many times over the last approximate 7 years). The serve staff was not especially friendly to our non restrictive requirements. If I recall we had another incident there a while ago (maybe before the pandemic) and the manager said we would be recognized next time but we refrained from going to any restaurants for a while duri g the pandemic.

Consistently outstanding mussels, fries, and beer. That’s pretty much all we order, except for the cheese board, which is kind of skimpy, for the price. Oh well. Nothing else compares when it comes to the plumpest, most delicious mussels anywhere.

I ate at Et Voilá twice before the restaurant expanded. Although I thought the french fries were amazing, the restaurant felt very loud and crowded. It was almost as if you couldn’t have a private conversation without your neighbor overhearing you. A month ago, I came on a Sunday evening with a friend, and was amazed at the transformation, not having realized that you’d expanded into the property next door. We had a very nice meal in the small dining area of the new space. Everything about the visit seemed special. The fries were especially good. Last evening, Sunday, May 21, I brought my sister-in-law to the restaurant. She was visiting from out of town. I had bragged to her about the fries. She is a seafood eater, and really enjoyed the mussels that she was served. I don’t recall whether the fries came with one of our dishes or we ordered them as a specia treat. Both of us were very surprised that they were served at room temperature and were, in effect, soggy. They just didn’t live up to the reputation that you tout online and that I experienced previously. We shared one order and decided not to finish it: wasted fat, carbs, and calories. Sitting in the narrow dining area of the original space, we sensed how heavy the traffic was around us —- waiters, bus boys, guests coming and going. I much prefer the new space that I experienced a month ago. I was not embarrassed by the experience, but it certainly didn’t live up to the hype that I had given your restaurant before we arrived. Somehow you’ve got to serve fries that are hot and crispy no matter when people order them, I do not expect to return to a Voila!. There is far too much competition in this city and metro area not to be able to count on a signature dish. The “busy-ness” and traffic through the original space also seriously detests from the dining experience of those at the small tables along the wall. Jack Ramsay Arlington, VA

Our waitress was really rude and unfriendly. She wanted to take our food order as soon as I sat down and clearly was trying to turn our table. Then once she got the order, she ignored us. She was the worst part of our experience. I love a busy French bistro, but the tables were too close and they had one too many against the wall. It was extremely awkward. People were having trouble getting up from ther tables because it was so packed. And because the tables were too close together and they had too many of them against the wall, it was abnormally loud. Tables on both sides of me were complaining about it.

This was a wonderfully reliable neighbourhood staple. Loved coming here. My last meal was really disappointing. Under- seasoned food, had to wait for the fires to show up. And the service was perfunctory. What happened? It’s so disappointing.

The food was terrific (and reasonably priced) and the waiter was very patient in explaining options and avoiding foods causing allergies. We had a great round table in a corner, as requested. We all loved the place and look forward to returning.

Excellent experience and first time at this restaurant. Food was delicious and great service especially for a Mother’s Day afternoon. We ate outside which was lovely. Our meals included pate, salmon and risotto with shrimp. Crème brûlée for dessert. All were delicious and sauces outstanding. Will definitely return and recommend. Came here from a friend’s suggestion.

We went here for our anniversary. The waitress was really friendly and they had a great menu. I would have given a higher rating but the meal was quite rushed. We didn’t get our drinks until after we ate our appetizers and were served our entrees! And I had to hunt down a server - any server - to ask where they were. In hindsight, we shouldn’t have ordered any food until we got our drinks. We just took it for granted that the server would make sure that we got our drinks prior to our meal. The waitress brought us a free dessert. But we didn’t want a free dessert, We wanted to have time to enjoy our drinks before being served dinner! We went here for the experience.
