Esty Street Ratings and Reviews
A quiet, elegant restaurant with excellent service and a varied menu. The Octopus appetizer was delicious, but a pretty small portion. (we did split it, but there were only 2 small pieces) My Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection and the presentation superb. My husbands Veal Chop MIlanese was perfectly prepared and a very nice portion size. The apple crisp was enough to share and was what you would expect. Our waiter was well versed and very attentive without being overbearing. All in all a good dining experience.
My bone in filet was over cooked and had a sauce on it that I did not order. I sent it back to have the sauce removed and it came back extremely over cooked. My daughters filet was very undercooked. They had to take it back twice before they got it right. They did take her filet off the check, which was the tight thing to do. That was two meals they did wrong. We will not be going back. There are better restaurants to enjoy.
this is a great place for a fine meal. not cheap, but wonderful food, service and ambiance. three if us had red meat that was high quality, perfectly cooked and seasoned. the lamb chop special from colorado was delicious as were the two different versions of filet. appetizers and salads were scrumptious. was a special occasion and esty street was perfect for it.
We dined at Esty street to celebrate my friends birthday. We've been many times before. Appetizers were great. Sadly, when my friend's dinner arrived - Filet Mignon ($45), it was overcooked. She brought it to the attention of the waitress and another one was ordered from the kitchen. While the second Filet was being prepared, I ate my dinner while my friend sat in waiting. I finished my dinner by the time the second Filet was brought to the table. Sadly, the second Filet arrived undercooked, in fact it was raw in the center. It was agreed that something else would be ordered. The chicken arrived about 15 minutes later. Nothing was done by management to acknowledge our disappointment. I got up and spoke to the manager and he knew of the mishaps, didn't apologize but said he would provide after dinner drinks. However, he never left his seat at the bar to check on us and the waitress was not clued in...no drinks were offered. After desert and coffee we left, resolved that it was a disappointing evening and we would likely not return. Big miss by the kitchen and very poor attention to customer service. Management could have easily overcome the kitchen preparation issue, but chose to ignore us and let us stew in our discontent.
Very nice-classic steakhouse decor. Enthusiastic greeting and relaxed pace of dinner which we enjoyed. Huge wine list lots of specials in addition to menu-steak and seafood focused. My pork chop was under cooked for my liking but was swiftly addressed and came back perfect. My wife had chicken which was fine. Staff attentive.
The food was wonderful. The waiter does not tell you the prices for the specials, which were very high. Speaking of high prices -my cocktail cost $26!!! No, I did not look when I ordered it, my fault-but, come on! Our waiter was very impatient with us asking him to repeat the specials and kept walking away. As I said at the start, the food was wonderful.
Was last at this restaurant over a year ago, and they have definitely made the restaurant more upscale (including the prices). My steak was amazing, but at $60 it should be. Great menu, great service, and a great meal. However, this restaurant now falls into the "splurge/special occasion" category.
Limited appetizers....prices for some items is NOT on menu..interesting!
You get a choice of one slice of bread initially.....need to ask for more.
Service is pretentious and attention given is surprisingly limited.
Entrée food quality was EXCELLENT and Abundant!
Dessert was creative and excellent.
Generally overpriced...There are better choices in both New Jersey and Nearby New York.
The food, as always, was impeccable. The waiter service was very good, however, there was a lack of attention to detail this time regarding clearing the table and replacing utensils. Very unlike this restaurant as the service is typically as outstanding as the food. It may have been the fact it was a Monday night and it appeared that one waiter and one helper were manning the entire restaurant.
When we reserved on open table we said it was an anniversary. The waiter asked us if it was a special occasion and we said again that it an anniversary. NO ONE from the restaurant brought over a little dessert or anything commemorating our anniversary which for such an expensive restaurant was extremely disappointing. The food tasted like it came from a diner - I even had to send back my salmon for being overdone when I explicitly requested rare. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have been to Esty Street many times and never had as poor Service as was provided this evening. Even after complaining there was no remedy or effort made to improve the service or to accommodate my party.
Esty food is excellent the presentation superb however tonight's service was so poor that it ruined a wonderful meal and probably made future reservations at this culinary establishment unlikely
Friends of ours introduced us to this place, when we first arrived we sat at the bar for cocktails. I couldn't believe the selection of wines they carried. we sat in the "Library Section" of the restaurant which was absolutely beautiful . The food, and service was amazing. We will definitely be back.
