This is an upscale restaurant where we expected exceptional service, which we received. We all enjoyed our meals, the menu
almost everything about the restaurant is superior with two exceptions:
1. It's kind of small and therefore a bit cramped.
2. More importantly, it's over-priced by more than a little.
Food was great. We hadn’t been there in awhile but we will surely go back soon. I didn’t get my glass of wine has indicated on open table but it was okay . Service was great as well.
I must say, knowing full well the higher prices this restaurant charges, there was nothing I noticed that would warrant the excessive prices. I took my wife out for her birthday this past Saturday, again knowing the prices at Esty are higher, expecting to have a fantastic dinner. The best thing about this place was the knowledgeable wait staff who were very attentive. Aside from that everything was average or what you expect from a respectable restaurant. Having spent many years as a waiter has it really come to the point where yesterday’s standard is today’s extravagant? I hope not! The atmosphere and food, while good, was really nothing outstanding and, in my opinion, did not warrant a $300 price tag for two people, abottle of wine, 2 appetizers and two main courses. Now don’t get me wrong. The restaurant was good. No complaints. However in terms of value you can get the same experience or better for less at other places in North Jersey. If your looking to flaunt your ability to over pay for normal food then by all means this is the place for you. However, if you’re looking to have a great time with people you love and get good value for your money you can look else where and be satisfied.
My beet salad appetizer and scallops entree were very good, but a bit bland. However, my wife's Brussels sprouts and kale salad appetizer and 5 spiced tuna entree were excellent.
FOOD AND SERVICE IS ALWAYS GREAT. A BIT PRICEY SO BE ALERT WHEN ORDERING SPECIALS.
GREAT PLACE FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION
Love! Everything is wonderful! Always look forward to eating here! :)
Food was great. Service was excellent. A bit price but the food was delicious.
Simply over-priced for the whole package. Food was excellent, ambiance was okay, price was well beyond what Park Ridge NJ should be able to get...
Since we were seated near the bar, the high noise level was to be expected. Next time we'll probably ask for a seat in the restaurant proper.
FABULOUS as always!!!!! Esty Street never disappoints. The food, Randy the server, there is no better place to go and celebrate your birthday!! Absolutely, my favorite restaurant.
Excellent experience overall! Great ambiance, exceptional food, service, atmosphere. Delicious food offerings from grilled artichokes, kale and brussels sprout salad to exquisite carpaccio appetizers. Then entrees were all steak, filet of beef choices, special cuts- which were all superb. Hadn’t been in a couple years, but will now put Esty Street on top of my list!!
Finally, a place where conversation can be heard! What a pleasure to be able to enjoy that aspect of an evening, while dining on superb dishes with quality ingredients, all skillfully prepared. Always pleased by the selection of game on their specials list; nice additions to the regular menu. The wine list is fairly priced, with some true gems. And don't pass up dessert!
The atmosphere is great very cozy and quiet. The food and cocktails are amazing and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Esty Street was the perfect place to celebrate my husband's birthday. We loved everything about the restaurant and definitely plan to dine there again.
As soon as you walk in you smell the disgusting wrench of old musty carpet. Who puts carpet in a restaurant. Wait staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Food was excellent as was the service.
The ambience was perfect.
Drinks were a fortune. Food was excellent. Service was very professional
AMazjng food and service I will definitely be back
My mom and I celebrated Mother’s Day here and had a fabulous time. The service was excellent and the ambience was like nothing else. We travelled an hour to try this place and it was worth it. We both ordered the crab cake Benedict and every bite was delicious. Highly recommend this place!
The food is always excellent and there are continuous variations which keep the menu up to date and make Esty Street a compelling place to visit frequently. When you are in the meat of the menu, execution is always flawless. Rib eye is fantastic. Pork chop entree is superb. The wine menu is also always surprisingly thorough (you don't expect Montvale NJ to have a place like this). Kudos to the restaurant for maintaining this level of service quality and food excellence over time.
We like to celebrate special occasions with a delicious dinner here. Always a great experience.
We keep coming back here because the food is good, the service excellent, and the room comfortable.
Beautiful restaurant, the food was delicious and the service impeccable!! First time there and I plan to return soon!
Always a good experience. Food is consistently interesting, well prepared and presented. Service is over the top. Make early evening reservations for quieter conversations.
Excellent dining experience. Outstanding food, atmosphere, and service !!
The food is excellent, if pricey, but the service is slow and inattentive at best. Lovely room and an extensive wine list.
Chose this restauant due to location between the friends getting together. The exterior needs a serious refresh, dated and dusty with awful fake window boxes. The interior also could benefit from updating. Outstanding service from Mike as we perused the menu. Selections well curated, strong recitation on the specials. Overall pricing was exorbitant relative to both portion size and value, as if being pretentiously priced made the dishes more significant. We eat out frequently at excellent restaurants in NYC that offer a much more refined dining experience at the same price point or less.
Everything was delicious
The service was very poor . It was a Saturday night and we had a 6:30 reservation. We were seated for over 15 minutes and they still didn’t bring our menus until we asked for them . They were definitely understaffed as far as wait staff and maybe in kitchen as well . The waiter did not know prices on specials or food on menu that were market priced. It was very crowded and the noise level was very high . There was a big party next to us and they were extremely loud . The food was very good but not sure if I would go back again because of the very poor service and how long everything took.
Service was excellent, food was great, bar could not be beat. We have already made a reservation to return.
More like MEH-sty Street. It’s a beautiful room and the staff tries hard but they fumbled a bit with the introduction of the wine that our daughter had sent us for our anniversary, and they never offered us the free cocktail that we were supposed to get with our Opentable Booking. Frankly I forgot about it myself until I saw something today on OpenTable that reminded me. But BOOOO. I also think for the price you should offer an amouse bouche or goyrmandises at end. Food was very good but I wouldn’t say mine blowing and the crabcake was too salty and full of too much old bay or similar seasoning. Desserts lackluster. Appreciated that you decorated the plate but you wrote “ happy birthday “ when in fact it was an anniversary. My daughter sending wine for our anniversary should’ve been the second tip off in addition to what I requested on OpenTable. Definitely needs tweaking for us to return
We made reservations to have dinner with friends. Neither of us had been there for a few years. We were unsure as to what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised that the service was still excellent! We were seated immediately for our 6:30 reservation. We were seated next to a large party with children who seemed to be celebrating something. It was a bit loud but not to the extent you could not have a nice conversation. The food was perfectly prepared and beautifully served. Our server was most helpful and professional. The prices were a bit on the high side, but the food was so delicious! We will definitely not wait so long to go back.
outstanding service and elegance. everyone deserves to have an experience like this.
A great place for a special dinner. Food was excellent, service good. It can be a little noisy due to all the hard wood present but overall highly recommended. Not the cheapest restaurant but on a special occasion good value.
We were very warmly welcomed upon arrival. A quiet weekday evening. It is a cozy place. Service was courteous and careful, but the server kept forgetting requests and had to be reminded often. It was not busy. Two if us enjoyed s cocktail before dinner. It was a leisurely evening.
All three of us had specials: two surf and turf, one rack of lamb. They were simply perfect. They were preceded by a lovely selection of warm breads served with sweet butter and a pesto sauce. Two had dessert...a chocolate cake and coconut ice cream with a delicious chocolate sauce that hardened into a shell upon hitting the ice cream.
It was a very expensive dinner: $306. Not everyday dining. But every bite was delicious.
Phenomenal in every way! I LOVE this place! Great food, ambiance and service!
Great place!! Loved everything food, waiters, drinks
They can’t do enough for you!
Great atmosphere, amazing service, fabulous cuisine and cocktails
The duck l'orange was dry. no l'orange sauce was seen.
A medium order came in rare.
The apple dessert was around 2 crushed apple slices in a doughy shell.
This is our 'go to' restaurant for special occasions. This time was a birthday celebration for 7. As usual, the food was excellent - some examples include the Lobster Profiteroles, the special Sea Bass with Risotto, various Steaks, and the Osso Buco. The desserts are also excellent. Overall, the dining experience is worth the prices paid.
In my opinion the service was not up to the usual standards on what was a busy Saturday evening. For example we ordered a second bottle of red wine, it took 20 minutes to appear. The wait between the appetizers and the entrees was overly long. We had to pour our own wine 'top-ups' as the server came by infrequently.
A nice touch was the special 'birthday plating' of the celebrant's dessert.
We will return, but the restaurant needs to provide better service on busy occasions given the cost.
