Estrellita Mexican Bistro & Cantina
Our charming, character-rich location is perfect for a quiet dinner for two, a large group event, or your next company meeting. Enjoy seasonal specials, ever-changing signature cocktails, and even espresso creations made with our own hand-roasted coffee beans.
This is our second visit to this restaurant. I felt the food was better the first time around where I boasted to all my friends how great and authentic their food was. This time around it was ok. Unfortunately my chicken was dry. The guest said her carne asada tacos were quite tasty and the chicken enchilada was just okay. Chips and salsa of course are always yummy. The service was very good, they were very polite and so attentive we had very good conversations with them. Would I go back? Yes.
Get the mole! One of the best in Silicon Valley!
Our favorite Mexican restaurant. Lovely food and great service as always
Very good food and service at reasonable prices. My wife and I have dined at Estrellita several times, and the wait staff is most attentive, and doesn't mind that our boxer joins us for lunch at the outside tables. We have tried many entrees, and none have disappointed us. Estrellita is a terrific place for a casual & tasty meal that is affordable.
Great patio dining with zingy house margaritas, wonderful service and delicious food. No better place to spend friday evening with friends.
I've been to Estrellita maybe a dozen times. While you can find the standard Mexican fare here, they also have a lot of authentic regional Mexican dishes. I especially like the cochinita pibil, sweetish shredded pork slow-cooked in banana leaves.
Our second time back and had to order the same tasty items. Cochinita pibil and chiapas tamal (with mole poblano). Chicken Oaxaca also a regional feature. Love it for authenticity—not the usual Tex-Mex.
This is good ethnic food from south of the border, Good service and really good wine selection.
My favorite is the Mole Poblano chicken as the mole is so flavorful with just the right kick. The margaritas had great flavor. We tried the fried ice cream served in a sweet tortilla! Great fun and good tasting.
Looking forward to going there again.
I do like this restaurant. The food is good and so is the service but the restaurant is very loud. Can’t hear what people are saying even if they are directly in front of you. They really need some sound absorbing panels or rugs.
Ok, but not good enough to come back. Food average. Service was very nice and professionell.
Tasty food, good service, delicious chips & spicy salsas, all at a reasonable price. The enchiladas suizas & chicken tostada salad were most satisfying, and lunch was particularly enjoyable since our dog was able to sit next to our outdoor table.
Estrellita is not a fancy restaurant, but the food is very good and we always have an enjoyable meal when dining here.
So good!!! Party of 7 and everyone walked away happy.
Excellent service, great outside patio, fabulous food
Very good food & service at reasonable prices. The gourmet burrito, enchilada suizas, and enchilada/taco combination entrees were delicious, as were the chips & salsa served upon seating. Service was attentive, and we will definitely return to Estrellita!
Very tasty Mexican food. The service was prompt and courteous. This is a fine casual Mexican Restaurant.
Great as always
Have not been there for years. Just trying it out again and will probably not be back for a while.
Very good food & service at a reasonable price. The California burrito with chicken Oaxaca and the enchilada suizas are delicious, as are the two salsas served with chips upon seating. While outside seating is on a busy city street, it is still enjoyable, particularly when we bring our dog to lunch. This is a family favorite for Mexican food.
Very authentic Mexican food. Thoroughly enjoyed my combination plate. The tamarind margaritas were pretty good too.
Wonderful place to eat traditional dishes. My mother was so pleased to be able to eat a Chile en nogada which she hadn't had for more than thirty years
Thanks to Open Table description and reviews as we decided to try this Mexican restaurant while driving nearby. It will now be our “go-to” place for Mexican food in the Bay Area. The Mole Poblano was recommended as the house specialty but opted for the Chiapas Tamal which contained the mole poblano & shredded chicken along with almonds and dried fruit enveloped in homemade masa—wonderful! The Conchita Pibil also was a surprise menu offering, the braised pork flavorfully seasoned. We arrived relatively early for Friday dinner so the noise level was not loud, but can imagine it can become noiser later.
Food was delicious and the service was very good and our waitstaff were very attentive. The only drawback is that the restaurant is very loud. Nothing to absorb the sounds so it makes it really difficult to enjoy a conversation.
They were terribly overwhelmed tonight.
They didn’t have the seating selection (outdoor) noted so we waited 45 minutes to be seated. Service was slow (they kept saying the kitchen was backed up) and food was underwhelming. Won’t be going back.
The enchilada seizes and California chicken burrito were very tasty, as were the chips and two salsas served upon seating. Wait service was attentive, and it was enjoyable having lunch at one of the outside tables since our dog was able to join us. Prices are reasonable, and we will definitely return to Estrellita Mexican Bistro & Cantina in the near future.
Be prepared for a SUPER-LOUD dining experience. The food was good, but due to the noise level, I will probably not be back, unfortunately. (I have reached the age of not being able to tolerate loud restaurants, apparently....)
The ambiance was excellent. Loved the decor. Service was outstanding. However,
I was disappointed with the Chiles Enogada. I just ate them last August in Mexico
City and in Puebla. I'm sorry, but yours did not compare; however, in all fairness,
I will return and try other dishes.
The chicken mole was one of the best foods I have ever eaten!
Food was very good. Margarita excellent. Noise level was a bit loud. Fun and boisterous. Not good for intimate discussions. Value of food very high. Definitely would recommend making reservations. They are open for a short time for dinner. Filled up quickly.
Tasty food at very reasonable prices, this is a great option for Mexican food in Silicon Valley.
Reasonable price and big portion.
Amazing find! We’re new to the area and found an opening on OpenTable. We didn’t know what to expect when we pulled up but the food did not disappoint. This will be a regular spot for us!
We had not been there in many years, and found it improved and very good. The food was very good, tasty, and light. The cochinita pibil was delicious! The margarita was excellent and big! The serving lady was obviously very busy that night but singly handled all tables extremely efficiently and cheerfully. We will go there again soon, and recommend to friends.
Very good food and good service with reasonable prices. The included chips & salsas are delicious, as were the enchiladas suizas and enchilada/taco combination plate. Diners are given a bottle of tap water upon being seated, which is appreciated since the green & red salsas are very spicy. There is an option to dine outside, however table are on a busy street.
Have been going to Estrellita for over 25 years. Management has changed several times but food quality is almost the same. Service is a bit slow bit I believe they are working on it. My favorite burrito of all time !
Service was prompt and friendly. Appreciate that they offer a carafe of water. Entrees came out literally 30 seconds after they placed our appetizer on the table. Entree plates were scorching hot and the food itself was lukewarm, obviously microwaved and not freshly prepared, dry and disappointing.
Great authentic food
Good family place
Good food, interesting menu items. I would go again!
