Estiatorio VOLOS Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food, great for sea-food lovers, good for pre-theatre dinner if attending the Opera.
Would have preferred a house wine in half litre as glass not enough and very expensive and bottle too much to drink before theatre as it's early and you might want to drink again at the theatre. Just an idea, but overall, a wonderful experience.
My husband and I liked Volos very much! It was our first time in the restaurant. Food was great! Service was spectacular! Special thanks to Tasso, their Manager - he made a big difference to our dinner. He actually opened a restaurant door for us - I was too weak to open it :) . It was like he opened his world to us and invited us to share it with him. It seems like Volos is the place of his pleasure and joy where he enjoys to give a lot of pleasure and joy to other people like us. God bless this place and Tasso!
The lamb shank is AMAZING (fall off the bone).
The olive oil.... wow. That bread with olive oil is fantastic.
The shrimp saganaki and grilled calamari were also amazing.
Best grilled calamari we have ever had!
The mini chocolate cake they brought us was delicious (and thank you for that!)
The regular saganaki and lamb kebab we're good, but not the stars of the meal (I would get more calamari or shrimp saganaki for the next time instead).
The server was lovely.
The food was just so delicious I am craving this all over again!
Came for Winterlicious 2018 lunch. Greek salad was not what I know as Greek salad. Not used to shredded greens, but more of a chunky salad with bigger pieces. The octopus salad was excellent. Octopus was very tender and the shrimp with it made a nice contrast. The Greek yoghurt was good, but expected nuts in it.
My partner and I had an absolutely superb experience at VOLOS for his birthday. Once our table was ready, we were promptly sat and tended to for water. Our waitress (forget the name, but had a great smile) was timely, courteous and quite witty. Within nearly 5 minutes of ordering saganaki as an appetizer, it was brought to the table and flamed up. I ended up having the Seared Swordfish for my main, while my partner had the Seafood Kritharoto- both were delicious, and portions were quite reasonable in my opinion. Afterwards, our waitress brought out an Ouzo Chocolatw Mousse for my partners birthday- on the house. All in all, we will definitely be visiting VOLOS during our next stay in Toronto. It is very evident that the staff and management pay close attention to the finer details- from service and plating, to ambience and selection- making it a really great evening for the two of us.
This was the first time at Volos and I was most impressed. The service was professional, meaning discrete but attentive. The ambience was lovely - I especially appreciate the fact that we could talk in normal voices, and be heard by each other. And the food was exceptional. To my mind, this is all you can ask for in a restaurant.
We did the pre-show 3-course dinner for $36. Greek salad was very good, though not a 'wow', my beef shank was the same - would have liked some more veggies - and my partner's salmon was excellent. Finished with baclava which was great though we both agreed we'd had better. Wine seemed pricy, $15 for 6oz, but my companion said that's the going downtown rate these days. My server made a good suggestion for a Greek wine to go with the lamb- it was a match!
Service was very good though a little more attention was called for especially as it was a slow night.
The service was very friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was cozy and elegant, and the food was melt in your mouth awesome.
We waited a little longer for our food (most likely because of the large table that came in at the same time as us), but they brought us a saganaki on the house without us even saying anything.
Great spot if you're wanting a nice treat/meal out. Highly recommend!
My wife Kim and I were in Toronto for her Xmas present of seeing Grease and staying at the Sheraton for the weekend...Her dietary habits have changed in the last few months and I was looking for more of a "seafood" style restaurant and we've never tried a Greek place before so gave Volos a shot.
Was not disappointed in the least! Great location right across the street from the hotel and when it was minus 30 out, that was a bonus for a short walk...Met at the door immediately and had an offer to take our coats which was nice...Checked in for 6pm and had a nice table overlooking the street...Cozy atmosphere and a good vibe...Our server was Katie and she was beyond fantastic...After 5 mins felt like we knew her for years...She talked us into the "Pre Dinner Special" which was awesome value at $36 pp and included App, Main, and dessert...Kim had the soup, Salmon, and Mousse...I had the braised meatballs, Lamb Shank, and Baclava....Each course timed perfectly; Katie also got me a couple of tasters for some Greek wine and I wound up getting a nice 9 oz glass of Greek red which went perfectly with dinner.
Manager came by to see how everything was which was nice as well...We will def be back as I'm going to take Kim's mom and dad here as I think they would love it.
Well done folks and keep it up

Loved the prefix menu option as we were dining before a theatre show. Very respectful of our time and prompt in service. Only issue would be the cold. Seated near the front of the restaurant and every time someone came in - we had to put our coats on! Need a barrier between front reception and restaurant. Service great. Food good. Wine options plenty. Portions appropriate.
For New Year's Eve, my husband and I along with another couple, enjoy spending the night downtown, taking in a show and booking a restaurant for dinner.
We made reservations at Volos and asked for a table where we could enjoy conversation along with our meal.
We were delighted that the staff at Volos heeded our request and led us to a section of the restaurant that had a handful of tables. We were able to spend almost three hours enjoying food, drink and conversation easily!
As for the food - absolutely delectable! From grilled calamari to swordfish to lamb shank to a succulent lobster and shrimp dish - our appetizers and meals were beautifully prepared and presented.
Our server David was the perfect combination of friendly, helpful and attentive.
Altogether, a lovely dining experience and one I'd highly recommend!
The food here is beyond good! I had the scallops and my boyfriend had the short ribs, we also had the dolmades to start. Everything was amazing! I don’t understand why people are complaining about the portion sizes, go to any fine dining restaurant or high end in general and half the time they are even smaller. Our stomachs were full by the end soooo no complaints! Also service was really amazing aswell.
I've been to this restaurant many times and it never disappoints. The service is always friendly and usually efficient. The food is always excellent - although I have to force myself at times to not order the amazing exohico, just so I can try other things on the menu. I really enjoy the selection of greek wines on the menu.
Volos was a great experience. Went for a date, and had an amazing waiter! The wine was fantastic, and so was the appetizer - which was a flamed cheese dish (sorry i don't remember the name!). The entrees were decent, and overall gave us a great time to spend time together. I do recommend being aware that this is easily a $100 bill for two people, not including tax or tip.
This was my third time at the restaurant. Each time I went it was a great experience, Im not sure what her name is but the server with the long red hair was absolutely amazing. I've had her twice and she made amazing recommendations for what to eat and her attention to the table was not overbearing but just right! This time we had a short blonde girl who was just as pleasant. Best Saganaki I've had, best lamb shank also. Just amazing all around in every way, definitely one of the best restaurants in toronto and I spend $25-30k/year on outside dining.
Went there with my girlfriend for her birthday. We are both of Greek descent so expectations are HIGH. It was loud - but that is because we were sitting beside a large group - just something I don't like. Service was as expected - nothing terrible to complain about. Most importantly - the food - bottom line at the price you are paying I expect more authenticity and home made dishes - not dishes supplemented with pre-packaged ingredients. If I were going to a good italian restaurant I would expect the dough for the pizza or the pasta to be made in house not picked up down aisle X at the grocery store. But then again I have high expectations. If you are naive and don't know what to expect it is decent.
The food and service was wonderful. We were there before the ballet and we found the ambiance very romantic. The food was also quite delicious. The only caveat was that they made a mistake and I received a gluten item that I didn’t realize until after taking a bite. If someone is allergic to things, I would suggest making sure to clearly state and ask once the meal arrives, but they made up for it with complimentary appetizers. I suffered mild reaction to the gluten but my husband and I found the rest of the meal quite appetizing. We will go back, this time I will make extra sure before taking a bite. The food is delicious.
This was our first time at Volos and we would definitely come again. We had an early seating for dinner before a show and it was fantastic. The food was authentic and the wine was amazing. We’ve never had wine from Greece before and we both loved it. I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner on date, before a show or with the family.
I've taken my clients here twice now, and have had such an incredible experience at VOLOS. The food was wonderful, from appetizers to dessert, everyone was satisfied and loved the meal! My server at both times was Tim and he did a great job taking care of my clients and making sure they were well looked after. I would definitely recommend VOLOS to friends and clients in the future and will continue to go!
