Estiatorio Milos - NY Ratings and Reviews
We went for Saturday lunch and got the three course prix-fixe meal for $35 per.
The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. We had the dorado for the main course. Although it was filleted, there were a few small bones in each of our dishes. This is probably so because dorado is a very bony fish. But if you're picky about that, don't order the dorado. The yogurt with fruit for dessert was wonderful.
We were there for two hours and never felt rushed. Definitely a go-backer!
Enjoyed a lovely pre-theater lunch. Great value at $35 prie fixe, but they made up for it with the $20 glass of wine at the bar. Service was a bit aloof. We arrived at 11:45 for a noon reservation and were told to wait at the bar. Other people arrived at noon and were seated before us. Then we were seated next to a waiter's station, and in direct path of people going to a baby shower upstairs. I would go back for the food and ambience but not the service.
Overall it was a great spot and I had a really great lunch under RW! As a side ne, due to their popularity I would not recommended getting there early as you will have to wait until your reservation time. I've been trying to get a dinner reservation for months and it was worth the wait. The Wait staff in general were very attentive and answered all my questions. I did have to ask for a drink menu as one wasn't given to me when I sat down and ordered, and the guy who gave me the menu was very helpful in explaining the drinks. The food was a nice portion size and Very tasty especially the walnut cake and ice cream. Service was efficient throughout my meal, not being rushed to move along to the next item, and Just shy of being too delayed, I ordered a dish of calamari to go and that is where the service took a small decline, the order was placed a bit too late in my meal and I had to wait several minutes after I was done to receive it, when I got home I discovered that the lid was broken and a few pieces of plastic was in my dish and there was no sauce included in the dish. I will definitely go back if able.
Milos still is the place for amazing seafood of all sorts of varieties from the very unusual (sea urchin) to the expected. And it would be hard to find any that is fresher or better prepared. Not to be missed is the daily variety of fresh fish displayed beautifully on a bed of ice. The service was so attentive it got to be a bit much and I had to ask them to back off a bit. If you’re looking for a quiet dining experience this is not the place for you but put that aside for some of the best food in the city.
Everything was excellent. This included the warm bread with olive oil and oregano, the grilled octopus and the calamari I had the dorade and my friend had the shrimp. The lunch portions were more than ample. The servers were extremely pleasant. Because it was Restaurant Week. the food took a little while but worth the wait. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
I went solo for lunch during Restaurant Week. I ordered the octopus appetizer and the grilled sea bream. The octopus was perfectly cooked; the texture was soft, and the char from the grill added a nice touch. It was complemented by the fava bean purée and a drizzle of olive oil. The sea bream was so fresh; it was simply cooked on the grill, highlighting the taste of the fish. I also loved the grilled bread and the freshly-snipped oregano in the olive oil. I wish I could have eaten more slices! I found the overall ambience of the restaurant classy and peaceful. A very pleasant dining experience!
I booked a table right through the restaurant week section of your site. When I got there and we finally sat down I asked for the restaurant week menu. At first they told me they don’t Do restaurant week. And they send someone else over and they tell me they only do it for lunch. Very disappointed in being lied to. Please get back to me at 917-533-4800. You can easily see I booked it pushing on that restaurant week category.
I have been to Milos several times and although pricey, the food is outstanding. The fish is as fresh as could be with a large assortment from which to choose and the meat dishes are just as tasty. don't miss the grill octopus appetizer and the Greek Salad!
