    Tapas was good. Like the dishes we ordered, octopus, pork belly and mushroom. Daily special is just so so. Halibut was touch to chew on, probably over cooked.

    The newly transformed garden - outside dining area - is absolutely stunning. There are fire pits for cocktails plus chairs around a fireplace. They also have new heaters. The happy hour menu is limited yet very good. The shrimp has heat, but not too much - delicious! Beet salad was filled with beets - also delicious. The wage burger always is good. A little pricy the ambience makes it special.

    Very nice Thanksgiving meal and nice service. However our table was right near the fire to outside seating and all night long it was opening and closing with staff and people entering and exiting.

    Thanksgiving Day at Esteban… the service was 5+Star!!! Some of the best ever!! The tapas were so delicious and well prepared! The first and last courses of the Thanksgiving set menu were wonderful. The turkey dinner itself was so-so. The presentation was not appetizing and the turkey was dry. Wish we had ordered all tapas!

    We were looking forward to dining at Esteban during our time in Monterey. We had our reservation for some time. When we arrived, the restaurant only had a few patrons at tables. There were several people seated at the bar. With the wide open area, the hostess seated us at a 2-top table that was jammed at the end corner of the bar. We asked if there were options, but was told that this was our table. We ordered the Plato de Pinxtos [Almonds, Olives + Bread], Harissa Carrots, and Beet Salad as our small tapas. We had the Lamb as our large shareable meal. Prior to receiving our large tapas dish, my husband excused himself and went to the restroom and returned to the table and said he was not feeling well. While we ate the same thing, the spices in the hummus dish upset his stomach. Later that evening, I experienced the same stomach issues. While the food was not horrible, it was not what we had hoped for given the reviews and price of the meal. Coupled with the seating location, it made the overall experience less than what would be expected at a fine dining location. We would still recommend the restaurant to others just because everyone has a different expectation of service, food and dining experience. As for us, we won't return as there are too many other options in the area to try.

    My husband and I had dinner at Esteban's to celebrate his birthday. Our server, Salome, was a gracious host for our dinner service. We never felt rushed. The food was exceptional. I would not hesitate to recommend Esteban's.

    We had a phenomenal meal at Esteban! The paella dishes were well worth the wait and the pulpo frito was to die for! But the staff truly helped to elevate the experience. They were very attentive and offered excellent recommendations! We will be going back every time we visit Monterey!

    Have eaten at the restaurant before but wanted to try out their new brunch offering.........and it was every bit as good as their normal menu. Some fantastic additions/upgrades to the standard brunch fare. The patio is fantastic and the service was superb. Well worth the little walk to get there.

    Das Essen war einfach super lecker ! Wir waren zur Happy Hour da und hatten mehrere Tappas bestellt. Das Essen hat nicht lange gedauert und war sehr lecker . Die Bedingungen waren alle super freundlich! Als es kalt wurde gab es decken und außerdem auch live Musik auf der Terrasse ! Auch der Nachtisch war großartig!

    It was our first time here and we found parking on the street so that was a great start. The people in the Hotel Registration desk were immediately helpful to find the entrance to the restaurant. They were very pleasant and seated us right away. The waitress was extremely helpful and the Tempranillo wine by the glass from Paso Robles was great as was the Spanish Red Blend by the glass. We split the special Halibut fish with Polenta entree and there was no crazy $10.00 split charge. The Guitar music was just right and the space heaters were very nice and not too hot. Even the Manager came by and greeted us. The Brussels Sprouts Tapas with little chunks of well seasoned ham was delightful and the shrimp was spicy but not too spicy hot. We will be back. We came for the Music and will come back for the great service and special food.

    The food was great - we ordered four tapas, including the gambas, croquettes and the bacon wrapped dates. The service and staff were fantastic and we really enjoyed our visit. Their prices were good too!

    Food was quite good. Sitting on the lighted patio was very inviting. Server was very friendly, however, we waited exceptionally long periods of time for the server to come by after the appetizer, waiting for a dessert menu, obtaining the check. I would still return and give them another chance.

    Great food options for the tapas menu. We were a group of three and requested outdoors but they gave us a high table. Noticed a few tables available but was not offered to us. The live music outside on the patio made the ambiance great. Next time definitely will bring the door as we were not aware it was dog friendly. Wish they shared that on the website.

    My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and had a memorable experience. We loved the food, staff and ambiance so much, we returned the next evening so that we could try more dishes. Every dish was delicious, using super fresh produce and ingredients. The staff is extremely attentive. Excellent wine as well. This restaurant offers unique, flavorful and innovative dishes. We enjoyed both meals on the outdoor patio, which is comfortable, beautiful and relaxing. The live spanish guitar was another special feature of this amazing gem. We will be back every time we are in town. Would make a special trip just to dine here again.

    This was my first time at this restaurant. The ambience was warm and sophisticated. The food was exceptional. I ordered two topas to sample a couple of things, I was not disappointed. I will be going back next time I'm in Monterey!

    Esteban’s restaurant was absolutely amazing- incredible food and the service was impeccable! We sat in the courtyard where they had a wonderful guitarist playing… it really was a wonderful evening!

    The food was very good and priced appropriately. Where I was disappointed was the server not paying attention - why drop dessert menus while I am still eating my dinner and then drop the tab while we’re eating dessert. We hadn’t lingered and exceeded our time and there was not crush of people pushing them to turn the table. It was just a lack of awareness.

    I live in the area and never had the chance to eat at Esteban Restaurant. Family of mine were coming into town and were going to be staying at the Casa Munras Garden Hotel. I made reservations at the restaurant. The service was excellent. Our waiter Byron was attentive and personable. The food was delicious. The ambiance was wonderful. An all around lovely experience. We will definitely return.

    Very average, good grilled vegetables tapas. Disappointing scallops, very small and not flavorful, lamb good portion, good flavor, but overcooked.
