Essensia Restaurant & Lounge Ratings and Reviews
We went here for a family dinner. The food was delicious and the fish fresh and prepared with a deft hand. Vegetarian options looked attractive and meat was available, but it was the fish dishes were the star entrees at our table. We ate on the pretty outside patio.
As vegans, we loved the farm to table concept of this restaurant and the fact that there are vegan options on the menu. We shared the quinoa salad to start, had the plant-based platter for dinner with a side of brussels sprouts and shared a vegan dessert. Everything tasted wonderful and was beautifully presented. Great staff, great ambiance (we are outside) and delicious food. We will be back. Thank you.
Thanksgiving buffet so expectations not unrealistically high. Have eaten here before, and it is usually quite good if a tad pricey. Setting extremely pleasant. Two main course offerings fine, but all sides substandard, dry, over cooked. Deserts similarly disappointing. Servers pleasant and friendly, but service almost nonexistent, and no one really seemed to care if meal ok. Far below what we have come to expect from Essensia, and they were not "giving it away".
Essensia is located on the ground level of The Palms hotel. The hotel itself is a beautiful Art Deco building, and the restaurant takes over a back porch with a very nice Key West feel to it. There is a less casual indoors area to the restaurant as well. For a lunch or brunch on a late October Miami day, the terrace is the place to be. Laid back, no-hurries environment with a lush tropical feeling. Food is fine; nothing spectacular but mostly over-priced.
We arrived at 9:30 on a Thursday. The restaurant was completely dead. So we had the place to ourselves. Waiter and cast were very attentive. The food was very good although the portions were very small. I ordered the wine pairings, which were later comped.Overall it was a pleasant experience. I would recommend it for someone who likes a quiet place.
Service and ambiance is super at this place. Hotel setting and grounds are immaculate. Quality of food for dinner was questionable for the price. Breakfast provided many options and was very good. Staff was wonderful. I would return and give them another chance for dinner.
During a recent trip to Miami this was our most expensive and least enjoyable meal. The food was good but not outstanding, especially considering the price. While I was pleased that they had one vegan salad and entree, the salad was large but not exciting and the entree (cauliflower steak with sweet potato pasta) was good but not satisfying as it was vegetable only - no starch or protein. My husband enjoyed the bisque and cioppino and thought they were good but not outstanding. Service was average. Setting was very nice - we ate outside - and quiet. We arrived at 9pm on a weekday and were probably the last people to arrive.
My wife and I came to the Palms for a wedding. The evening before we stopped into Essentia for dinner. The kale and Parmesan salad was outstandingly good! As we're the garden greens. My wife's cioppino seafood risotto was delightful. I had the special of the day which was a broiled branzino. I loved the side of Brussels sprouts? During our stay we had a lunch by the pool and a lunch at the spa also prepared by Essentia. They got our order wrong at the spa and the manager comped us. Al around a class act
a disapointment! it used to be fine dining, but the staff were not up to standards at all. no one poured the wine, the entrees were brought out before the appetizer dishes were cleared.
new silverware was brought out after that, while the entrees sat.
the fish was overcooked for one of the entrees, a sin!
Food and service was excellent. Ambiance is beautiful! Food was small portions for high price but worth every penny! Many Gluten free options (well labeled!) which is important for me as I am a very sensitive Celiac. Went two nights in a row and will go back anytime we are in the area!
I'll write a short review and my comments only apply to the Sunday brunch. So for the brunch, they have what they call "small plates" and "large plates" (and burgers, warps, etc). I took the Salmon Roulade "large plate" and it was soooo tiny, with 3 little rolls of smoked salmon sitting around lettuce that was not in its prime. For $22 it was a true rip-off and I should have taken a photo of it since you have to see it to believe. The fish tacos the same thing, really really tiny pieces, and we are not big eaters. I don't know who had the idea of calling those "large plates" but it must be some unfortunate anorexic person.
The benedict was regular size and the burgers look like it too as I saw some passing by.
Anyhow, I cannot advise you to go there for sunday brunch and we will not return. btw, for the valet it's $20 *if* you eat there (otherwise some ridiculous $30+ ). Better park in the street, the ticket is $18 if you get caught. Do the math :)
This is one of my favorite places. I've written reviews before, always raving. Recently I've read how many false reviews exist, and one way to tell them is that they are always just positive. So, I have decided to share the one thing I've not liked in 3 years of visits.
We are pescaterian and usually order vegetarian food. We had the cauliflower steak plate recently and were disappointed. It seemed to have something missing, as though there should have been quinoa, faro, barley, some grain as a part of the dish. I suggest the restaurant add to this dish.
Some of our favorites are the kale caesar salad, the avocado tempura, the shrimp gnocci, and the desserts.
