A great experience. Outstanding Ambience, good food and very good service.
Wonderful meal! Attentive service although it was a bit slow. Overall we had a great time!
I am a big Essensia fan. What a charming setting. Farm to table concept works there. Very accomplished kitchen. Next time o am going to ask to see the proverbial herb garden on the property. My only nit to pick is, though small, irksome. The wait staff at Essensia must be trained to pull plates off the table before all diners are finished their course. . Stop doing that please?
Everything good. That was unbelievable good good!!
Great food and great service
Lovely setting but underwhelming from a restaurant claiming to be an assault on the senses
We had a fabulous dinner. The wait staff was great the setting perfect. Very very happy with the dining experience
Great place and great food. Perfect
We had lunch here outside before a massage - salads were good, ordered very basic - then had dinner inside in the restaurant. We were the only people inside as outside was full. It was a nice quiet atmosphere and service was great - our server even brought us pillows for our backs because the chairs are very deep. Risotto and lamb was delicious!
The food was good and fresh, atmosphere on the exterior terrace was nice. That being said the service was very disappointing, even disrespectful. The wine selection was limited at best.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, and you can dine inside or al fresco.
My wife and I celebrated our honeymoon and the staff was more than accommodating. I wish I would have gotten the gentleman’s name that gave us free drinks. They really went over and beyond and made the rest of our evening special. Thank you to everyone!
What a surprisingly bad experience we had at Essensia. The place is beautiful, but everything else was unexpectedly bad. First, our waiter came and went as he pleased and was inattentive. We had to wave him down to get service. The pizza appetizer had a thin but mushy crust. The entres came late. I ordered lamb chops. They came cold. When I notified the waiter, he actually said, “Lamb chops are supposed to be served at room temperature!” Outrageous. Lots of money for bad service and bad food. That’s what we got at Essensia.
Overpriced.
We were literally the only table in the restaurant for lunch. Despite that the service though friendly was non existent. The food is mediocre. Tough to see a reason to return.
We had a very good evening but it was very expensive
I dined at Essensia everyday for 5 days while I was staying at The Palms. I was very pleased with the menu and the service. The portions are perfect, and I truly enjoyed that the meals often featured produce straight from the kitchen garden!
Honestly, we went for the burger as the concierge at Edition said it was the best. And it is! Had a great salad to start. Lovely porch dining and warm staff. Just wish there was some on street parking. The whole area is under construction!
Delicious and fresh ! Beautiful presentation and great menu selection. It was a highlight of our visit to Miami Beach area . We sat outside on the deck which was lovely .
Creative chef. Very good food. The outdoor patio area is a wonderful, serene setting. Servers are attentive and friendly, but they could use better training in terms of knowing the menu and exactly how dished are prepared.
Great place for Sunday brunch. Staff was nice and attentive. Patio was pleasant. Food was great!!
The mahi was very good the flatbread was cold and the chicken was just ok. The drinks were overpriced but the service was very good
We dined here on New Year's Eve. The setting was beautiful, surrounded by lush tropical plants. The meal was good but not great. The service was also good, but not as "connected" as was hoping. This is likely due to being in a very busy touristy area. If the food and service was as good as the atmosphere, it would be superb. As it was, very good.
We went here for our anniversary. My husband had the duck and I had the special, scallops. Both were absolutely spectacular. Our waiter and the manager were so sweet. I put in our reservations that we did want not want to be seated near children, we were one of 2 tables sat when a family came in with 2 kids and the hostess sat them next to us. We asked to be moved and the waiter was more then understanding. Towards the end of our meal the hostess (who we asked again not to be seated near children and a quiet location) seated a family of six next to us. The waiter came by and apologized and the manager gave us 2 drinks on the house for our anniversary. We really were so pleased with everything except the fact hat the hostess just wasn’t paying attention to detail in such a high caliber restaurant. I wish we could remember our waiters name.
I’ve been wanting to check out Essensia for awhile now so we stopped for lunch on a recent trip down. The food & service were great — and because we had a few people with food sensitivities, we were thrilled with all of the options available
Best part of our experience was our waiter Alex. He was outstanding!!!
Christmas Eve - Great service and food. Good size portions.
We were at this restaurant on out last trip to Miami Beach. It was delightful then and one year later just as good.
I’ve been going here for years and always enjoyed the experience. Wonderful service and very good food.
We enjoyed the evening, found the restaurant to be very quiet, although the bar was busy.
The services was not good at all. The restaurant was not even full, but our waiter (who was nice) forgot about us and I had to stand up and look for her many times (the rest of the staff would just say, let me get your waiter, instead of offering to help, which really shcoked me, they don't seem like a team). The food was ok. Really dissapointed
Great outdoor dinning. Menue was a little limited to a couple fish dishes, three pasta plates, and two expensive steaks. Dollar tank $$
Beautiful. Romantic. Quite. Diverse menu and tables set apart far enough to make you feel like you are dining alone. Except when some loud drunk people get into the pool and that kinda ruins the mood, but overall a really wonderful experience.
Great food and great service. Everything was perfect. I highly recommand it.
A great experience overall. I wholeheartedly recommend it and will be returning soon!
Mixed feelings about our date night at this restaurant. It's a lovely spot and the wait staff were warm and welcoming. And the food was pretty good. But there were two big issues for us--the wait staff seemed highly disorganized. Different waiters appeared, said they were going to check on certain things in the kitchen and didn't come back until we went for the manager. Most importantly, at least two dishes on the menu that were identified as being gluten-free were not. One person in our party has celiac and when we asked the waiters to double check whether the fried plantains in these dishes were fried in the same grease as gluten items they came back and said that it indeed was a shared frier. So not gluten-free meals as advertised--once again, a major problem for an individual with celiac.
The outside seating area had a very nice ambiance that was very classy. The food was phenomenal. I had the braised short rib over a bed of gnocchi. The meat was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. The service was good but nothing over the top. I feel like most Miami restaurants have "order takers" and not waiters/waitresses. This didn't take away from the overall experience however and I would definitely go back.
Wonderful Miami Spice experience!!
We keep coming back year after year to Essensia, one of our favorite restaurants. The Miami Spice menu was a great deal and we enjoyed everything. The short rib was to die for and the flan dessert was just the right size to cap off a delightful meal. We always enjoy sitting outside, relaxing, and having a pleasant conversation away from the hustle and bustle of South Beach.
Went for their August Miami Spice menu.
As SoBe locals we usually do not venture into the mid/north Miami beach area too much, but this one was truly a great choice!
They have a lovely bar and seating area (copious!) and the cocktails, even though not reduced, were quite voluminous and rather good.
Restaurant has a beautiful outdoor veranda style seating area that evoques plantation romatic comparisons, and hence is a beautifull location (indoors available too).
Their main menu clearly reflects a vast choices of meat and seafood choices and their famr-to-table approach was evident (with an award to go with it)
Options for starters and entree were right of their top-shelf items on the menu, and they did NOT reduce the size of the dishes (commendable!).
Grilled octopus and my 'ropa-vieja' (pulled-beef) plantain tostada was exquisitely delicious.... used bread to soak up all the sauce... :-)
The mains were fantastic - their Bouillabaisse had an asian hint to it, which made it probably the best and innovative I have tasted - subtle to not affect the fish tastes yet unusual enough to delight; all seafood elements were on point - not a single item was under or overcooked... rare to find in a bouillabaisse (all about technique!). The braised beef short rib over gnocchi was fabulous - healthy portion and perfectly cooked, with fall-apart gnocchi and a reduced sauce that was to die for...
The flancocho and the mango tart desserts were very good, but I could not stop thinking of the mains... :-)
Anyway, I realize they swap out menu items in Septmeber, but based on their main menu I do not think you will be disappointed, regardless of what they decide to put on the Spice Menu!
