The staff is both uninformed and disorganized, with various members coming by our table is no apparent order. They could not correctly describe the food. The menu also misrepresented the dishes: a “broccoli and sorrel salad” is actually a mound of arugula with two small bits of broccoli and no sorrel. The appearance of whole orchids as garnish in no less than two appetizers and two desserts was unappealing and pathetic, as if the chefs were utterly clueless about the art of presentation, believing sticking a Christmas bow on every plate will improve it. The gnocchi with mushroom ragu was fine, if dull. The pistachio and chocolate cakes were over sweet, and completely lost in a mess of coulis, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, cookies and powdered sugar: more evidence of a bewildered kitchen throwing whatever they can find on the plates. At $200 for two of us, we regretted visiting Essense.
Gnocchi with fennel sausage had big chunks of fennel, virtually no sausage, and not a lot of gnocchi. This restaurant has gone way downhill. It now is mostly vegetarian and vegan, so it's great if that's your thing, but otherwise forget it.
We are frequent guests but this time the sides came out cold and we're still cold after we sent them back so we gave up. The service is always impeccable and so is th ambiance...but the food this time....so so. Will we be back? Yes! It's one of our go to date night places...but ......buyer beware! Not exactly cheap either 156.00 before tip
Wonderful atmosphere Food was excellent
The service was excellent. $19.00 for a plate of cold spaghetti was a little much. It didn't taste very good either. Might have been because it was cold. It didn't even come with bread. The bottle of wine was good, but very expensive. Overall we had a nice time.
They left me with the impression that they were under staffed and rushed. We waited at the front reception desk for an easy 5 minutes before we were even spoken to about are reservation, and if weren't for an amazing couple who insisted to the staff that we take there table we would have left.
But once seated the service was fine and friendly, the food amazing .
Brunch was the reverse . Staff was on point and the food was average.
Overall it was a bit pricey for the experience I expected better.
Good dinner, but VERY GOOD breakfast. The best I've had in a while. Vegan pancakes and chia pudding were top notch. Drinks were a little over priced, but we got a great deal on food through our package at Two Bunch Palms. Very satisfied with the food overall.
We've been to Essence before. Three of us really like our meal (Strip Steak). My mother, who has been wanted to come back for quite some time, was not happy and has decided if she returns it will only be for lunch as nothing on the dinner menu was very appealing. I ding the service mainly because the person who was filling water was at every table except ours. I finally was able to flag her down (after finishing one of my companion's water).
The service was great, make sure you make a reservation for dinner. Clean food, my husband ordered the burger, which I tried and was amazing. I ordered skirt steak which was ok. Flavor was good but a bit tough and chewy. Sides were good. Next night I ordered a Caesar salad which was good and chickpea curry and white rice which was not good. I've tried a lot of different curries and this one was one of my least favorites (should have gotten the burger) Beer was good, cocktails were good.
The food was adequate-- nothing to earn it a rave review nor a complaint.
The service, while friendly, was subpar at a restaurant charging higher prices. We were left wanting to order more wine, given wrong menus, ordering things that ultimately weren't available, hearing the bar tender and wait staff planning their night. . When your bill ultimately comes to $170.00 for two for dinner, you expect the service to match.
It is the only restaurant on the premises . It's too bad that you still want to drive somewhere else for dinner.
Decent meal, easy to be vegan here. Excellent wine. I wouldn't sit outside next time. Patio left a lot to be desired.
There were not enough servers for the number of tables. Even the servers that were there disappeared for long periods of time. The food did not come out as ordered. A pity since the food itself was good. For these prices the service needs to greatly improve.
Very enjoyable luncheon and menu selections were wonderful.
Great food and impeccable service. Usually very relaxing as expected for a Spa restaurant.
An oasis in the actual desert! We were relieved to find this place on Open Table, and we were not disappointed. Excellent service and food, in a peaceful setting. Would return in a heartbeat if we weren't leaving town.
Jeremy is a fantastic bartender. He made our night! He made up some of his original drink creations along with some of our favorites. Great food recommendations, we went with the spaghetti (similar to a carbonara) and the burger (best burger I've had). Great atmosphere and great conversation. We will be making this our regular dinner spot.
The service was amazing, the food was delectable, and the ambience was perfect for a romantic, relaxing evening in Desert Springs! Highly recommend the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer and the Lamb Chops and Kobe Burger as entrees. We got a bottle of the Cline Pinot Noir as well and it was a perfect pair to the meal, smooth and light - great value!
We've eaten at Essense several times. The ambiance and service are always exceptional and the food usually is. But this time was different. We both ordered from a pri-fix menu. I realize now that that was our mistake. I had the 1/2 cornish hen with a mixed greens salad (which was exceptional) It was dry and flavorless. First bad food I've ever been served at Essense.
Someday, I'll learn my lesson about ordering from a pri-fix menu.
Before dinner was served, chef came into the dining room to great a friend who was sitting at the next table. After she spoke with the friend, she looked at our table, made eye contact with me and then turned and left without even saying hello. That was a bit off-putting. Even a smile would have been better :) Good thing the wait-staff is super friendly.
What a lovely experience! I'm so glad that they were included on restaurant week so I had the opportunity to try Essence. I'll be back to dine and use the spa.
One of my favorite places in the area, high quality organic food and drinks.
We missed the Mother's Day brunch by 30 min. But the friendly staff still honored the bottomless champagne for $12 a glass. The lunch menu was amazing. My wife had the salmon salad and I had the poke salad that I added the Tuna to and it was great.
Great selections. Our waitress was very accommodating and helpful, not overbearing at all.
Enjoyed the breakfast and the view is spectacular - food good - service could be a bit better, but we will go back.
This was the second time we had a date night at essence and it remains at the top of our list of special places to go, when it's just the two of us! Delicious food and a romantic setting!
AMAZING hidden gem!
I am a foodie ... and have traveled the world ... and I have to say this place was fantastic!! From the service, food, uniqueness, experience and setting! Wow wow! We will be back. !
Outstanding "superfood salad".
Menu is full of other delightful offerings. I'm ready to return soon!
I was pleasantly surprised by the food and dining here. I went thinking it was just a place to get lunch for our day at the spa. The food was REALLY delicious and the view so serene and peaceful. I had a wonderful burger and my wife's salad was fresh and very tasty. Having had such a lovely lunch there, I would definitely go back for dinner. It is a bit of a drive, but the view and setting is so lovely.
What an incredible surprise! One of the best restaurants in the desert if not the one!
Fantastic dining experience! Wonderful Valentines menu with wine pairings, excellent service and relaxing atmosphere. The pomegranate brûlée was to die for! Highly recommend Essence and we can't wait to go back.
Service, ambiance as usual was top notch. The scallops were delicious. The stuffed pork chop was a little dry on the edges. Spinach and asparagus were fresh and cooked perfectly.
Magical environment! Fabulous view. Staff was very attentive. Food was excellent.
Both healthy & standard menu options.
We went there for an early dinner on Sunday..we knew that it was a wellness center but we did not expect people to have dinner with their bathrobes on,around us..the attractive outdoor sitting area photo was an exaggeration..the reality was a small patio..it may be a place for brunch but not definetly for dinner..
We'll be back again for dinner and will try the spa.
Very impressed with the restaurant.
Date night with my wife. Food and ambiance were excellent. Great views of the valley. A very relaxing, romantic place for dinner.
Just love the farm to table experience. We have dined here before and the restaurant is excellent, superior wine selection, knowledgeable staff, fine food, beautiful views.. Always fantastic!
Delicious food that's thoughtfully prepared and health-conscious. Warm and friendly service. Atmosphere was modern and romantic.
Great scenery. Well-executed interior space. Service was spotty spotty but the amazing breakfast made up for this. Would love to try Essence for dinner.
We spent a week at Two Bunch Palms and ate all of our meals at Essence. It's delicious food and excellent service and excellent service. Outstanding !
The food at Essense goes with the over all vibe and feel of the Two Bunch Palms Resort. Breakfast, lunch or dinner the food is delicious. Healthy but SO tasty, you can eat it all and not feel guilty! The staff is great and can accommodate any request.
this restaurant offers grand food , great service and fabulous view.
