I have been here for brunch in the past and was impressed that's why I thought it would be a nice place to have Easter brunch, but I must say the quality this time was missing. I had the eggs Benedict but the bun was very hard and the eggs dry. I tried the omelette station but the egg white in the omelette was not cooked and very runny. I liked that they offered meat alternatives but they were cold and rubbery. They added an 18% service charge but the service was not that great to be honest, plates were left of the table and for a buffet I usually only give 15% and that is if the service is exceptional. I don;t know what happened to this once great place, but unfortunately I will not be returning. I
We had a show at the Markham Flato theatre across the street, it was the closest location. It is in a Hotel, and hotel food is usually a bit high in price but they have a captive audience. We paid about $37 each for a buffet. The Roast beef was excellent, and the deserts were very nice. The Buffet was a new addition, first night, so it should get better.
If we were going out for something special, don't think I would go there, but for a good meal across the street from the show it was worth it.
PS: The Tower Of Power show was great!!!!
Food selection was less than desirable, especially for the price we paid. Buffet with no soup, no carve station and no fruits. Totally unexpected.
We were there the first night of the Spring Buffet and the food was delicious. There were many options for both of us, a meat lover and a veggie lover.
Afternoon tea buffet. Least variety. Too sweet. Better goto cake shop to eat. Not worth.
Excellent service from the greeter, waiter Paul. Food quality was excellent and worth the value of quality and price
Very professional welcoming, table nice and clean, good table location. Food is one of best, for brunch, I have complimented the chefs. Servers were professional. Pricing reasonable.
I recommend this place, at least for brunch. Parking was free, courtesy of Open Table restaurant.
Starting with the positives.....lobby and restaurant are beautiful. For the price it is good value for a Sunday buffet brunch in a hotel. The service was attentive and friendly however you have to ask for coffee - they don't offer it. Having said that, the water and orange juice was filled without asking. The lunch foods on the buffet are very good as is the sushi and dessert choices. The egg station chef was great and very accommodating to our requests.
Now for the not so great.......when we got to the hotel we parked and paid for parking at the machines as you're instructed to do. When we got to the dining room they had a clipboard to fill in your license plate for free parking. ??? When I asked the hostess why we weren't told about free parking BEFORE we paid she advised that it was because we booked through Open Table and didn't offer to rectify the situation. Not happy that our party of 8 (with 4 cars) each paid $6.00 when we didn't have to.
The breakfast item choices are limited. There's the omelette/egg station which is nice. They have bacon and sausages and eggs benedict that unfortunately were dried out and looked very unhappy with the sauce completed hardened on the eggs. No waffles, pancakes or French toast which is almost unheard of for a buffet brunch. No toast or breads or any kind except for croissants and some rolls. They have a beautiful display of smoked salmon and then offer cream cheese in those little packages you find in the holder on the table at a diner, but there's nothing to put the cream cheese and smoked salmon on except for a roll or a croissant.
So all in all, if you know in advance that you don't have to pay $24.00 for parking like we did and you're looking for a nice venue for a large group with good food albeit limited choices for a lower than average Sunday Brunch Buffet price I would recommend Essense. If you're not worried about spending the extra $15.00 or $20.00 there may be better options available.
We loved the booth because it was private so we could talk. The service was amazing. The food that we ordered was amazing with every dish better than the other. My wife wanted to try different dishes and we very satisfied with everything. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Great choice. Good food. Nice seats. Good for gatherings.
Nothing special. Pizza had bought in crusts. Not gourmet. Steak was good. Very quiet place to chat.
Food and services were not up to Hilton standard. Bread was not serve with soup until we ask for it, and spoon was dirty.
Server took 20 minutes to take our order. The restaurant was 30% full, with two waiters.
Great place for brunch. I went for a Breakfast meeting and the ambiance was good. Food was good and lots of healthy options.
Attentive service! Well done Paul! Nice table by the window and lots of parking
It was decent
We went for the Valentines Day dinner. The food and the valentine themed dessert was great. Piano player and vocalist played Jazz type music. The service was good. Free parking for 2 hours.
Our server, Victor, was attentive and professional. Thank you for the amazing Client Service provided by Victor and the rest of the team.
For "hotel food" meal was very good, service was very good , friendly staff . very clean location would go again - brunch looks interesting
They have good hardware restaurant but kitchen cooking food is poor
quality (taste & smell), example sauce too salty.
I will not go back there again.
I had the Osso bucco and it was delicious - fell off the bone.
The service left something to be desired - I waited for 10 minutes plus for my bill and then went to the hostess to get it.
Greeted warmly by Samantha, who is really delightful, and service was very good as was the food. Lobby bar is attractive and was reasonably full, dining room was almost empty on a Saturday night. I suppose there are a lot of choices in Unionville/Markham, still I was surprised.
Quaint and comfy atmosphere. Friendly staff and service. Nice selection of sweets and savory items during our afternoon tea experience.
Beautiful hotel venue for elegant brunch buffet on weekends. Great selection of desserts and a decent but not a big, though relatively sufficient hot food selection. Pricey since it's in a hotel but worth it for special occasions.
I had planned a special night for my boyfriends birthday and when I got there the hostes was inattentive, the service was slow and the waiter pressured for a tip lager then what was given. I had in advance asked for a candle to come with desert and instead I had to ask for the desert menu since I wasn't offered it. The glassware and utensils at the table were dirty.
They have a new menu after our last visit. Barbara our server made excellent suggestions on what's new. We love the quinoa salad and the dessert. My husband had the Striploin and I had the seafood paella. They were both delicious. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back soon.
My husband and I had a lovely evening at the Essence of Unionville. Our steaks were excellent and the service was amazing. They even brought a surprise piece of cake to our table as it was my husband's birthday. That extra touch was very much appreciated. Overall, a very nice experience.
The crab legs were a bit disappointing. They were overdone and the meat was tough.
I have been to this restaurant a few times. This is the first time that I have brunch there. The selection and quality of food is good. Seats are spacious and the tables are not too close together. The service is always good.
I wanted to take my wife out for a nice elegant dinner in a swanky place. The food was mediocre. The service was quick but very perfunctory. We were the only couple in the restaurant the entire time. This on a Saturday night. Would not go back.
My first time dining at Essence of Unionville. Setting is comfortable and relaxed with live piano playing in the restaurant. Lamb Sirloin and Seared Scallop Penne were good except the scallops were a little overcooked. Overall service is good.
Lamb was supposed to be medium rare, but ended up more rare and somewhat undercooked. The vegetables were a bit overcooked and limp, while the rest of the dish was just okay.
The restaurant is located inside the Hilton Suite Hotel. I like the fact that the restaurant is not crowded and sufficient spacing between tables. I am able to carry on a conversation with my friends without yelling. Our server Barbara is very attentive and provides excellent service. The food is severed hot and very tasty with good presentation. I will definitely come back again.
It took over 30 mins for us to receive our dinner after our appetizer and no one bothered to check up on us.
On top of that our service was below par and I believe that was attributed to us presenting a voucher I purchased off of TrazelZoo. With it being a set menu the waiter thought we'd not order anything else which wasn't the case.
Would not recommend going back.
Had the Singapore curry noodles, it was fantastic. Overall a great meal in a nice atmosphere.
The food was way above average for a hotel restaurant. Had many meals here and dinner by far was the best. The service was some of the worst service I have had and even had to get up from the table to find the server to order addition items, ask for silverware and get the check. Then of course the tip was included on the bill. At least we had amazing food, and great company.
Waiter was great and food was good but the price was a tad high for the quality/amount of food provided.
This is the right place for lunch. For me, perfect.
The food was really good and fairly priced. It is a fairly large restaurant, but only three tables were taken. The service was great, but I was taken aback when I was offered french fries, which were not even on the menu, with my New York strip.
Food choice is not good at all.
The food container is not easy to handle, it is difficult to open and close it. The cover is not easy to slid, very heavy.
