Jackson our waiter was Johnnie on the spot, taking care of our needs, keeping our water and wine glasses charged. Although they were out of the one special menu item I wanted, the Sole was excellent. The only negative thing about was the valet parking outside, unlike previous visits parking was not validated and there was quite a wait both dropping off and picking up.
Sat outside. Food was good and service was great!
Great location close to the Community Theatre. Service very atuned to the theatre attendees. The Korean BBQ wings were tasty. The grilled half chicken was well prepared as well. Solid choice.
Perfect evening. Wonderful food. Unobtrusive, but great service. No rush. Great evening.
We were seated at a booth which was covered with a plastic woven mat material. It was filthy. Sticky stuff , greasy stuff, crumbs. You don't even want to know what was underneath the mat....it looked like they never lift them to wash the tables. The server sent the busser to clean the table mat but at that point I was put off on the whole experience. We found the food to be ok, nothing special. I ordered a shrimp louie which turned out to be an iceberg wedge with some jumbo shrimp an egg and avocado. There are a lot of great places to dine in Sacramento now and we won't be going back to this one. Hopefully others have a better experience.
Absolutely love the place! It was our 2nd time there and want to just stay. Top line!
Jackson, our server, was 5 stars. Food excellent and great ambiance.
Esquire Grill is always reliable and consistent with high quality of food and service.
The four of us enjoyed a great meal. The service and food was excellent! Loved the apple crisp and gelato desserts.
Love, love, love this place! Great lunch spot before the theater. Very accommodating to our timeframe and always have great specials to enjoy. Staff are exceptional. THANK YOU!
Two in our party ordered the New Zealand salmon and while they said it was tasty it (and the mashed potato side) arrived barely warm at best. The head waiter made it right later with free dessert but given the higher than average prices and Esquire Grill reputation it was disappointing.
The food was wonderful, the service was perfect, they even brought out a birthday dessert and took our bday pic.
We last had a meal at Esquire Grill in August of 2007 at which time it was easily the best restaurant meal I had ever been served. This past Friday night, nearly 12 years later, they did it again. Now, Esquire Grill is responsible for the two best restaurant meals I have ever had! The obvious question is 'Why not go more often if it's that good?'...That's how much I detest downtown Sacramento and the predictable, obvious results of the city's political decisions.
Had a very nice meal with my daughter before the Symphony. The restaurant was not very busy as we were there early but we were able to carry on a great conversation without yelling, a very welcome situation. The food and service were top notch as well. A great evening.
Favorite downtown restaurant before a show. Very accommodating for theatre times.
I enjoyed Esquire Grill so much I went two nights and a row. I own a catering company and being in the business I know good food and great service . The brownie desert with sorbet was outstanding.
Food was well prepared, service was friendly and efficient. Prices were a little steep but not outrageous.
Too noisy to relax. Food very good, but lack of selections (menu always the same). Very conveinent location to events Downtown.
Always a wonderful experience at Esquire Grill
My favorite table is waiting and Richard is attentive
The pasta special was excellent
Usually have the sole
Richard suggested the pasta--good choice
If not the best, certainly one of the best restaurants in Sacramento!
Excellent service made this an exquisite experience.
Never disappoints!! Consistently good. Great selection of appetizers and entrees. We shared plates.
Excellent food for a reasonable price, prepared for the customer at the time of the order. A great place to be seen and to see who is who in Sacramento.
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch celebrating a special birthday. We both had entree salads that were delicious and amazing banana cream pie. Their Nutty Old Fashioned cocktail is out of this world. The ambiance is always lovely. Ask for Keith to be your waiter if you want impeccable service from a charming, personable young professional. We look forward to returning soon!
It was Valentines Day dinner and when we arrived they were very busy. They paused to greet us an we were seated rather quickly. Service always makes or breaks your meal, no matter how good the food is. We were treated great and made to feel special. At the end of dinner we received complimentary photo of our special night.
We were seated in the less attractive back dining room, timing of dishes was rushed, but food was good if a little pricey.
Food and service not up to par. Seemed overwhelmed with Valentines Day.
Best pomegranate lemon drops ever!!! The food was seriously outstanding. Every dish was delicious. Absolutely loved the little gem salad and the fried brussels sprouts too!
They did a nice job with the crowds, but service was a bit slow in regards to even getting water upon first arriving. Food was wonderful and server was polite.
The customer service, waiter, manager, food ambience, was EXCELLENT!!!!!! Also made sure we were out in time for our show.
Good server, very genuine.
One of the best meals we’ve had in Sacramento. From the salad to entree and dessert!! We’ll be back!!
Excellent food and attentive service. Able to talk and hear each other. I’d return any time.
Our server was not warm and friendly
Our food was fair, not what it used to be.
Friendly staff, but noise level a bit too loud
Our server was delightful! We wanted to take our time, and she did a great job of spacing things out. The sole was amazing, and the pasta special was very good. Sat in the back room, so noise was not an issue. Menu was limited, however we enjoyed our meals very much.
Restaurant was great. Food was excellent. Service was superb. However, it was quite dark. Need to turn the lights up a bit more. I like to see the person across the table
Food was very good, but nothing special. Overpriced in my opinion.
This place should have 3 dollar signs, NOT two. We came here because it was next to the Sacramento Theater. Our waiter was horrible, and he was not familiar with the menu. Our waiter tried to argue with us when I pointed out that he forgot to bring the crackers (crostini) with the Burrata appetizer. Our food took a very, very long time... about an hour from ordering time until the entree arrived. We were starving and had to get up and chase our waiter down to ask for a bread basket, which he reluctantly brought to us. The prices were horribly expensive, and the "half chicken" was about the size of a chicken wing, so it was obviously a Cornish game hen, and not really what you would expect from a half chicken entree. The pasta was a rip off, and the sauce tasted sour, like worse than Ragu, and no parmesan cheese or fresh pepper was offered. The hamburger was good, and dessert was delicious, but everything was ridiculously overpriced. I will not come back here again.
The food at Esquire Grill is on point. Very well prepared and presented. After a few experiences to the restaurant I will not return, because the service does not match the caliber from the kitchen.
