Esquina Latina Restaurant & Lounge
Don't forget your family and friends as Esquina Latina is perfect for all occasions.
Daughter college graduation celebration dinner.
The food was great, as usual.
If the service matched the food this would be a go-to place for us.
The noise level was pretty high - music was a bit too loud - despite it not being very crowded when we were seated.
Our server seemed to not want to wait on our table.
Celebrating a birthday my wife and I ordered pre-dinner drinks. Our server did not know the bourbon choices. It took her over 5 minutes to find out and return to our table with them listed on her notepad. She did not put the other drink order when she went to the bar, so both were put in together.
We waited a good 10 minutes thereafter for our drinks to get to our table, by which time our appetizers had come out. But our server had still not taken our entrée orders.
So I went and asked for the manager, who took over waiting on our table. Service improved with him.
Everything was amazing except the people behind us who were literally scream laughing the whole hour we were there :’(
Mother’s Day. Love the food here!
Mother’s Day! It was loud and overpriced for mediocre food.
As good as always. The food and service is always great.
Excellent Paella was delicious just could have used a little more seafood,Braised pork shank was awesome Flan for dessert finished an excellent meal and BTW the mojito was like I was in Havana
Also service was excellent I will be back
I would not recommend for a date, only for larger groups. Food is good although not truly traditional in any sense.
The waitress let one of the fork fall of on one of the people that were with me then she forgot multiple times what we ordered. The food wasn’t that good either!
Great food and service! My family had a great time and will definitely be back.
This was my first time dining at Esquina Latina. We were a party of four celebrating my mother’s birthday. The interior is beautiful and the music was great. Being that it was Cinco De Mayo the music volume was cranked up so it was little hard to have conversations at the table. The food however was absolutely delicious. We ordered the guacamole and chicken empanadas for our appetizers, along with a nice pitcher of classic red sangria. Each of us ordered the same entree which was the vaca frita and it was so tasty! Highly recommend. The maduros, beans, and rice that came along side with it were perfect. My only true complaint is in regards to the guac appetizer portion being extremely small. It was served in half an avocado skin so you can only how difficult it was to share especially because it was so yummy that we were left wanting more. Overall, enjoy the dinner and will be back to experience their outdoor seating in warmer weather!
My girlfriend and I go to Esquina twice a week, karaoke night and either fri or sat to enjoy the late night fun. People here are great, the staff is awesome. The hostess knows where we sit, which is a nice personal touch. Food and drinks are fantastic too. Great quality and great flavors all around. Keep it up guys.
Amazing food ! .. the drinks are phenomenal !
The service is also great I highly recommend this place .. the ambience is also great!
Incredible food, great ambiance. Can’t wait to go again!
My first time there with a party of 11 people. Sat us in a corner on lopsided tables with banquet chairs very very uncomfortable. I asked if we could please be moved to the area across from us. Since it had more room and better seating. Manager advised that the area was reserved. It was raining so we stayed. We finished eating dinner and that area across from us was never used!! Service was ok. Food was okay. Probably never going back. If I'm going to spend $1,000 I would to be comfortable!!!
Celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Were given the happy hour menu at another table since we couldn’t sit at the bar or high chairs. Service was excellent. Food was very good. A nice surprise was the sparkling candle on my wife’s desert. Very nice touch. We will return again.
Delighted to have found this place. During the day it was laid back, with a diversity of people having a quiet lunch or sitting at the bar. It is a much more spacious room than the pictures would lead you to believe. REALLY nice and helpful wait staff. Was told the Friday night dance scene is more for older folks and also Latinos. The Saturday night scene is more for younger people. Food was delicious. There are some options for vegans!
Went for dinner b4 an 8 p.m show at NJST only 5 min walk.
Ambiance very cool ,artsy..food appetizers: shrimp empanadas ,moduroes,octopus ceviche,Tuna ceviche,Cuban shrimp,all excellent& freshly made.
Red sangria excellent..the fresca sangria a bit too lite . Entrees..duck in red wine excellent, skirt steak very good pretty tender ,paella leg portion and good. The only disappointment was the ox tail stew..Very boney..and small vertebra, more like the tip of a cows tail not a 4" chunk of ox tail..not tender enough.. needed to braise another half hour.
The waitress was efficient but from what we could tell she was the only one there serving six tables by the time we left. So service was slow even though it was a Tuesday night needed another server after 7 p.m.
All in all definitely recommend for the food quality and would probably be back.
Great menu, great location, great service! We will definitely be back!
We had a reservation for 8 people. The hostess placed us at a table for 6. So we had to fix the situation ourselves with a passing by waitress. Waitress started off great, nice and bubbly. She took our drink orders and appetizers. Once the appetizers were brought out, it took every effort to find her again to get more drinks. Some were even ordering drinks from the bar, so to have a long wait period was a little ridiculous and as a result, less drinks were ordered because we were waiting so long. Once the entrees came out, we were FINALLY able to get more water for the table and place another round of drinks. A 2nd waitress came to give the table more water, but she only filled half the glasses before the pitcher ran out and NEVER came back. So once again, we are trying to get the attention of the staff to get more water. Table was a little cramped for 8 people, but we made it work.
Multiple people had to use the bathroom, which was on other side of the restaurant. For some weird reason, it was extremely difficult to pass through dining room because there was one specific 2 top that was practically in the bathroom hallway. If we were seated there I know our group wouldn't be thrilled with all these people passing them. It was almost like we were joining in other families/groups dinners b/c we had to walk in a weird direction to get to the bathroom.
Our table was seated with a window to the small parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Throughout our entire meal, we watched as either the 2 owners or managers just "Hang Out" at the trunk of their Range Rover. We figured out they were associated with the restaurant because they kept using the kitchen entrance. SKETCHY!
Sad to say, we have a theory that the waitress and wait staff gave up on actually being a strong serving staff because 20% Gratuity was already being add to our check based on restaurant policy. So sad to say, the staff did not get a penny more then what was added to the bill.
Decent food. The avocado salad was good, but the dressing is a little salty. The black bean soup is delicious! The portions are generous. Torta ahogada is VERY large, but tasty. The pollo al pan is pretty good as well. They should add less ice to their drinks (non-alcoholic ones at least). There was barely anything in the glasses. Pineapple passion coconut cake and amorchocolate (basically a very rich chocolate cake) were very good as well. The service was a little slow for a Thursday evening at 6 pm (not very crowded), but not terrible. The wait staff is very friendly and accommodating. Clean bathrooms. Good music playing the entire time.
This was my first time at this resturaunt. I came to celebrate a birthday. The food was good but my group was told we had a “2 hour limit” due to the restaurant having multiple reservations throughout the night. My waitress was alright, she was slow with bringing drinks to the table and was persistent that we ordered fast because we had a two hour limit. However, the apps and food came out pretty fast and were both great. I thought it was very affordable and would definitely come back. Hopefully next time I go back, I don’t have a time limit. The place is really nice and has a cool vibe to it. The parking lot next to the restaurant was full so I had to find street parking, which was annoying, but overall I’d give it a 8.5/10. I would def go back.
Celebrating my wife's birthday, our first time was an incredible experience. Our server Josh was outstanding.
Ambiance, service and establishment were great. Food was not good, it was not cooked properly. We had 3 differemt main entrees (4 plates in total) on our table, only 1 of them was good. It is almmy my opinion that is a a bit price for what they serve. Again service was great, just that the food needs to improve. Rice tasted burned... Meat was hard and chewy.
Food is good I’d been coming back but too loud .. didn’t like the music plus not enough space to dance
came here pre-show and had a group of 4 dinner. Food was good, service was mediocre. would return anyway.
This was my second time here and I had to bring my husband! Everything was just a good as the first time, it even looked like their menu changed so I had different items to choose from which was amazing! Drinks are always refreshing!
Good food! Excellent service & ambiance. Will go back again & invite friends!
The restaurant was amazing. I loved the ambiance and the colors. The food was really good. The chips and guacamole was yummy. Nice drink selection.
great for tapas type selections after the theater. noise level might bother some but there is a quieter area of the dining room . staff is very accomodating.
Great Place, Lively, Great Drink Menu and Food Menu
My expectations were not too high but Esquina Latina easily eclipsed them. The service was very good, the ambience was nice and although the volume level was high it was not too high. Finally, the food was excellent. I would not hesitate to return. All I can say on the negative is don't get lulled into thinking that because there is a parking lot next door, parking is easy. The lot fills up fast and parking in New Brunswick is always a challenge. There is a lot on New Street off Goerge, which is close, though.
This is a fun and lively restaurant/lounge specially at night. Creative and fresh dishes seem to dominate the menu. A nice selection of Latin beers and yummy cocktails are plentiful. Try the spicy sangria! Noise level is quite high.
Tapas was great. Good prices and good food. Happy hour prices were fair for food and drinks.
Absolutely fantastic food and service! Everything was delicious! We will be back.
This restaurant is my favorite! The food is always amazing.
We had a nice dinner with a friend of ours. Several large parties were in the restaurant. Our meals were great. The place was so packed we were asked to get up mid meal and move to the other side of the restaurant in order for them to accommodate a larger party. We obliged even though it was awkward. They offered us complimentary items for the inconvenience. Overall still a pretty good place to dine.
Food and drinks were excellent. Good value.
This was my third time dining at Esquina Latina & I was even more impressed with the dining experience. The food was awesome & the drinks were great. We also enjoyed the service and vibe.
Excellent food, great and friendly service. So many choices. Can't wait to go back.
