We came for brunch. Excellent food, prepared beautifully. Good drinks - tasty and not watered down. Great wait staff. Will definitely be coming back!

This place has just some of the most delicious fresh tortillas and guacamole. It's a bit unfortunate that in 98 degree weather, the hostess decided to seat a very frequent customer and my baby in the very far end of the outdoor seating hallway where we were in direct sunlight and no overhead fans to be seen. I was also joined by my friend with her 6-week old baby, and it suffices to say our waiter was so aware of our seating he kept filling our water glasses. I had made the reservation way ahead in time, and requested a high chair in the special requests line. As I walked in I'm asked if I need a high chair and it was dragged all the way through the restaurant while I was walking behind them, I wish they had read so they could plan in advance seating and my daughter's seat. Great food and server, Mike went above and beyond.

This place is hoppin'! We went for Happy Hour on a Friday around 5pm the mai tre de & the server asked prior to seating & ordering. I saw vegeterian & vegan options of the menu. This is not just a "chips, salsa & guac" joint!

Birthday trip for my 11y/o daughter and our first time to DC. Food was amazing. The fact that she ate and enjoyed a wagyu crudo tostada brings a tear to my eye. Thanks for a memorable meal.

Hi Matt, Thank you for choosing us to celebrate your daughter! The wagyu crudo is one of our favorite dishes, so we also get really excited when children enjoy it. Thank you for such a nice review! Hope to see you on your next visit. Cheers, Josh Phillips

Espita is a place I’ve been multiple times. The past two times have been disappointing mainly due to the service. When a server greets you after you’ve been seated for a few minutes with, “Are you ready to order?” Something is wrong. How about, “Hello, my name is _______. I’ll be your server. Can I help you with your order?” When the most courteous words come as the.check arrives, it makes it seem politeness is only about a forthcoming tip.” The food was once very high quality but has diminished some. I’ll go back but not if the trend continues downward.

It's hard to rate noise level, because we went on a Sunday, post-brunch and pre-dinner, so the place was very empty. We got the happy hour specials - delicious mandarin highball! - and it was pretty good value. The drinks were good, the fish tacos were good, as was the veggie taco. We sat at the bar and the bartender gave us very good service - for some reason it took forever for the tacos to come out, so he gave us an extra fish taco to make up for the wait.

Great brunch! They are serious about sustainability and staff can speak knowledgeably about the different ways they restaurant is walking the walk. They are committed.

Beyond that, the food is amazing and the two times my friend and I have been here, the staff was very friendly and engaging. The chicken and waffles are ridiculous.

We have eaten at the bar and outside, we enjoyed both locations, they have a great patio.

Highly recommend and will be going back, for sure.

Food and drinks were good. Unfortunately the service was terrible. Our waitress not really paid attention to us. Kind of gave us the attitude if she doesn’t cares about us. The restaurant was quite empty. I asked for some limes and got one little piece of lime, which honestly was a ‘joke’.

This is not in any way a typical Mexican restaurant. They serve interesting dishes that are very well executed. The Mole Verde is an outstanding vegetarian dish. Mine had a head of cauliflower that had a perfect texture and an interesting sauce. Some dishes are somewhat spicy but no five alarm fires.

Brunch menu was great, very creative cocktails. Service at the bar was not great--had to ask for refills and there was little to no interaction with the bar staff during the hour I was there. Bar manager was great--very engaging and polite.

We were so excited to come, and the guacamole and ceviche was good, but the fish tacos lacked flavor and for the price we paid none of the food was worth it. The drinks were good, but we wouldn’t pay the price for this food again. We heard happy hour is worth it, so if we went again we’d probably go for that.

Really just didn’t taste great. Looking at the photos and the list of ingredients, we just thought we would love this, but it just didn’t come together in a tasteful way. We have travel to Mexico and have always loved experiencing the diverse flavors, but this just didn’t work. Relied too heavily on smoke flavors and too little on basics, such as salt. And it was odd to find parsley on food, rather than cilantro. Just didn’t work for us. Service was great though!

It was a wonderful experience! Great service and great atmosphere! I was there during the “tables without Borders“ event. It is so special that this restaurant is participating in that! I have passed along the details to several other people about “tables without Borders“sense learning of it! So, needless to say, very memorable experience

This was a birthday celebration dinner. The drinks were superb, and so was the food. The only criticism I can levy is we ordered Mole Verde, a meatless dish, but they served us mole with beef. It was quickly corrected and they were very apologetic for the mix-up. We'll be back.

Food was absolutely terrific. Service was super slow - took forever to get first drinks. Asked for wine list and it was never brought. We were long finished with first apps before server came by for rest of order. But other than that - this place Is a winner.

Food and mixed drinks (with mezcal) were excellent! Service, friendly, attentive, knowledgable and attentive. Portions were small--this is more a tasting plates kind of place where you need about one and a half entrees per person, unless you are a light eater. What it lacks in quantity it makes up in quality and authenticity.

Espita is a very good restaurant with the theme of Mexican mezcal—and they have many. We like their salsas and chips—and the tacos and main courses are very authentic. The experienced is enhanced if you get a good waiter, and if the waiter and the bartenders work together so you don’t have to wait 15 minutes for a margarita. Espita also has a very notable happy hour that fills up quickly, and is sensibly priced for drinks and food

Everything was perfect until we were asked to move to the bar because our table had to be occupied by the next reservation. We were waiting for dessert that was cancelled without asking us first. Manager seemed not to care about the situation. No apology or explanation was given. Bad attitude from the staff that left us with a bittersweet memory of this place.

Espita is great in the Summer with the patio and a crazy misting system to keep you cool. I had dinner on the patio with my husband recently and enjoyed Oaxacan cuisine at it's best. The perfect meal is the Guacamole, Nueces and Pepinos to start and share along with the Ceviche, Tacos de Pescado and the Mole Negro, also to share. Go for the cocktail's too...best cocktails in D.C.

The food was so bland and mediocre, the drinks were overpriced and uneven (mezcal Bloody Mary was good, but the selection of mezcal cocktails was really limited and the one I got was tasteless), and the service was just about adequate (we had to flag the server down to order food and for the check.) The restaurant was loud enough that we had to raise our voices to hear each other. And of course the check was huge. Totally mediocre and overpriced.
