Espetus Churrascaria is a Brazilian steakhouse. This restaurant began in 2003, as an homage to the Brazilian cowboys who would cook each night by roasting meat over an open flame. Today, this form of dining has evolved to a totally unique culinary experience. Guests at Espetus are seated with a red and green painted wood block on the center of the table. If the diners are hungry, they place the green side face up and servers will come by with a wide array of grilled dishes on skewers. Whenever they are hungry, they simply flip the block to red.
Espetus has an extremely large and varied menu for guests to enjoy. Guests can enjoy items like sirloin steak, top sirloin, filet mignon, flap steak, grilled chicken, marinated shrimp, rum-soaked pineapple, pork belly, flame-grilled bison and many more. Espetus also has a cold bar with items like rolls and pasta.
Delicious food. The challenge is not eating too much!
totally not worth it. poor service, too expensive, meat too salty. would not recommend to
Love Espetus! Went at 5pm and meats were not as tender/flavorful as usual, which is why I rated a tiny bit lower this time. But love the restaurant, the staff, and the salad/dinner bar - delish! We'll be back.
Meat was very raw there was blood dripping on my plate witch basically ruined our appetites. I only had one pice of meat that was actually not dripping blood I would never recommend this spot to anyone.
Went there two weekends in a row. Both occasions, servers were really slow in bringing meat around. Literally took 30 minutes per waiter to come around. Not sure if the goal was to make get you full with the sides instead but it took away from the whole experience of trying their variety of meats. I've been there other times and have had exceptional service, seems like it is dwindling down. This used to be one of my fave spots but am definitely thinking twice.
Friendly, professional service.
Noise level in room for larger groups was too high. Actually made occasion a bit unpleasant. More acoustical sound deadening elements needed.
After other parties left, experience was enjoyable.
Great food but way to much noise. Difficult to talk to someone at the table without yelling. Not a good situation for casual conversation.
Not worth the cost.
Our party arrived early for our reservation, but was promptly seated. We had two servers address our table of four, which was I'm guessing was due to a slower period of actual diners. Drinks were ordered and we began our exploration of the buffet table before returning to our seats. I must say, that the beginning of the protein rotation was great. We had a good flow, but began to notice that the splits would reach one table ahead of ours, then turn and return to the brasserie . We had to request several meats that seemed to never make it to where we sat. Although it prolonged our stay, we really did enjoy our dinner!
Delicious food and amazing staff. We have been to this location twice for our birthday celebrations and will go back again.
I had been there before and was hoping for that experience. This time I experienced generally overcooked foods, and very salty and possibly and lesser salad bar then previous visits.
The place is good and spascious, sadly they don't give you the best cuts of meat. We were there for close to 2 hours and the rib cart came out only once. We were passed by several times by the meat carriers, a better system is needed to know to serve everyone .
I raved about Espetus Churrascaria to my boyfriend a few weeks ago and I decided to take him there to try it out. It was amazing, even though he was feeling under the weather. Although he was not able to eat much, but he highly enjoyed the food he was able to eat. We will be visiting again because we bragged about the restaurant to his mother. Now she wants to go, so you will be seeing us soon.
Also, my first time at Espetus Churrascaria was some time in February-April of 2015. What happened to the huge wheel of Parmesan Cheese at the salad bar. I was a little bummed out when I did not see it last Sunday. :)
This was our first time to celebrate a family birthday. All ages enjoyed the unique dining experience and the selection of food. FUN!!!
Great meat variety and quality. Highly recommend it,but it's DEFINITELY on the expensive side.
Excellent food and service great music and variety of food.
The waiters were great! However, I was disappointed that they did not mention or acknowledge my boyfriend's birthday until I told them but I wrote in the comments when I made a reservation that I would like the staff to acknowledge my boyfriend's birthday.
Their food is always good. I like how well seasoned their meats are. But their service is always inconsistent. I was here couple months ago and received great service. But this time it was slow and I had to ask several times for some meats to come by us. Their service always get spotty when they have a big party close by the kitchen area. The service staff will just hover around those tables and ignore large areas of the rest of the dining room. So we end up with the same meats coming by repeatedly...probably the meats those large tables didn't want...but not other more popular ones without specifically asking the waiting staff for them.
It is a amazing place to go!
I miss so much the food from my country and I could find everything I want to. And also, I bring my host kids for dinner there and they loved the brazilian food especially the cheese balls (pão de queijo)! The service was pretty good, and we had the steaks coming all the time!
I will completely be back!
Great meat in particular the quality of beef is outstanding
Nice service and perfect grill. Sirloin, filet mignon, beef rib, lamb, bacon wrapped steak. They also had grilled pineapples and chicken hearts. Amazing. Highly recommend!
Best choice for casual energetic carnivores who want excellent meats in vast typed and quantities.
Great staff, love the meat selection and salads. Our group of six, from 87 to 17 years had a great time.
food value for lunch is only fair as limited selection of meats and not worth the price.
Really great meal, like this location better than SF. Terrific staff, well cooked meat - can't wait for the next excuse to go!
As usually food and service were exceptional!!!
First of all, they didn't have my open table reservations and could not find it. This was for a special friends get together. Then I had to show them my reservations at the location on my smartphone that Confirmed where I was at. There were too many excuses from the hostess which didn't add up why they didn't get my reservations. Instead of admitting that they made a mistake, they choose to make lame excuses.
The food is fair to good but lacks the value In price. My friend said that all the meats he had were overlooked. There were a few dishes that needed replacing but had to wait for a long time for seconds.
I will give it one more try in the future but won't endorse this place until I give it another try.
The lunch special is cheaper then the dinner option but there i no shortage of meat. This is the usual go-to for lunch meetings and birthdays because it it convenient and you know what to expect. I love the grilled plantains and Brazilian bread that they give to you when you sit down. The servers are very nice and are very generous with portions. The parking is tight so I recommend carpooling if you can. There are a few popular ramen spots in the area parking may be hard.
The only thing that i would recommend is maybe add lobster on the menu for dinner time. Everything else is great and we cannot wait to go back. Also, the servers and the crew was phenomenal.
The food and service was on point. Our waitress was friendly and even told us about events happening in San Mateo. Definitely will return in the future.
This has to be the worst dining experience my wife and I had. We brought our 5 month old daughter in her car seat and was forced to use a car seat sling. We told them we prefer a chair so we can rock the car seat to prevent our daughter from fussing, but kept forcing us until my wife and I gave in.
The food was ok for awhile until 15 mins into it when no one would come to us with any food. My wife and I watched them go to other tables around us and not us. Our card was green and we had to take from an open table since our table did not have it. Literally nothing and we have a couple come after get refills on bread without asking. I ordered an ice tea and it was watered down from the melted ice, along with my glass that was already full of ice!
My wife and I spent 132 dollars and it wasn't remotely close to being worth that amount. We were better off at a fast food if that was the service and food we were going to get. We left before a family we came after as well. We felt judge and did not appreciate it. We had to ask the manager or GM for our check and he could see our frustration and didn't even ask how everything went.
We will not be coming back and will be sharing our experience with our friends and will write a review on Yelp as well.
Took my mother here for her birthday with the family. Service was quick though our seating location had pros and cons. Pros being we were in the corner with the main wait staff so drink/dessert orders were taken quickly - try to request a central seating location. Cons being when the more limited meats came out, we had no chance to get any (chicken hearts, sausage, shrimp) before all the other tables took everything. Food quality was great with the family agreeing the notable meats being the pork belly, chicken hearts and sirloin. Definitely a fun time grabbing meats off skewers but the poor guy stuck with the grilled pineapple kept coming back (was some good pineapple but we did not need 6 rounds of it). Ordered the pudim (flan pudding) dessert and was excellent as well as a pitcher of sangria. Would recommend again for special occasions with groups and large appetites. Buffet appetizer/salad bar had good selection but save room for the stars of the restaurant: THE MEATS!
Excellent food and great atmosphere. We were celebrating Fathers Day with my husband and his brother and wife.
I myself loved the meat selections.....But for those who don't eat much meat....A seperate menu for other Entrees......like Fish, chicken, pastas would be great also......
Other then that......it was great for the meat lovers..........
Picanha is the best here at Espetus!
We always enjoy dining at Espetus. We often go for birthdays or other personal occasions that are special to us, like a promotion or anniversary. We also go just to eat delicious food. The taste of meats and seafoods are always of highest quality. We also love the service and attention from the staff. We are regular diners for sure!
Fantastic food and service! Very friendly environment 💕 Philip thanks a lot!
Always consistent and one of the best Brazilian BBQ around.
Overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. I highly recommend this place. The parking can be difficult at times but it's well worth it when you eat.
If you're a meat lover then the Brazilian steakhouse option is hard to beat. All you can hold down salad bar, sides, and more meats than you can count. The Parmesan steak and the garlic sirloin were 2 of my favorites, but everything is excellent.
A good tip is to save up and not eat any big meals prior to dinner since you'll want all the space available you can get. Also, pace yourself and don't eat too fast or you'll be slowing down much faster than you want. I would also recommend not filling up on salad and sides but focus on the delicious carved meats continuously arriving at your table.
It's certainly not something I would do every day, week, or month for that matter but excellent choice for a special occasion.
The only thing I didn't like were the chairs; one of the most uncomfortable seats I've ever experienced in any restaurant. My posterior was screaming after only about 30 minutes and I was tempted to eat standing up. Give me a slightly softer seat and I'm good, but I'm sure they don't want you sitting around for too long.
We'll definitely be back in the future.
