Esperanto Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
On a busy Saturday night, the loud music made it necessary for everyone to raise their voices to carry on a conversation to the point where we wanted to finish our meals quickly to escape the din. While the grilled salmon was delicious, the feijoada was disappointing, as the broth was thin and the beef was tough. The ceviche appetizers were tasty.
Great food and ambiance. We happened to be there during the Colombia vs. Peru soccer game, so it was super festive and service was not as attentive because of the crowd, but it was full of excitement and energy. The live music was awesome and the food always delights. A must if you are in the E. village.
This spot was really good down in alphabet city. I had the chicken quesadilla which was amazing. They have unlimited mimosas, sangrias and other drinks unlimited for an hour and a half. The servers were great and they always asked us if we needed anything to make sure we were comfortable. The server over charged one of my friends and they accommodated us with a special drink for the table. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy brunch In the city.
The service wasn't great. It was painfully, painfully slow. We had what seemed to be a very genuine waiter but we constantly needed to remind him about items on our order... drinks we're excruciatingly slow to come, if at all. It appeared that the hostess was doing what she could to remedy the issue.
I've had some really nice meals there in the past but I think we all came away from that brunch with much disappointment.
I came here for a nice get-together dinner with a group of girlfriends on a Friday evening, and we cannot stop talking about how much we loved this place!! Starting with the ambiance, this place is an adorable neighborhood find on Avenue C, great atmosphere, music, and environment. Every bite of food we tried was absolutely delicious! We were so overwhelmed with all of the incredible options on the menu and felt as if we wanted to try everything. We ended up having two rounds of appetizers because we couldn't get enough! Also, the margaritas were great, and our service was wonderful as well. This meal was the talk of our weekend, and we are already planning our next visit! :)
Esperando is absolutely awesome for brunch! $29 gets you BOTTOMLESS breakfast drinks (mimosas, screw-drivers, and/or Bloody Mary's) plus an entree meal. Often times with bottomless, I am willing to skimp on quality of food a bit: I realize I am paying not a lot for a lot of alcohol and the food can be not the best. That is NOT the case here. The brunch was absolutely delicious. I had the veggie egg-white omelette with shrimp; excellent. My friends had the breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, quesadilla, and another egg dish and they were all fantastic. Each came with a side of spicy, baked breakfast potatoes which were surprisingly out of the world, and a side salad.
Let's talk bottomless. When they say it, they mean it. The alcohol flowed as much as we wanted. No skimping, or slow service, or small pours. Our server, Storm, was THE BEST. Ask for Storm. She kept the drinks coming, was funny, friendly, responsive, and even brought us a complementary flan dessert at the end. As well, she let us know when 2 hours was about to pass and offered to bring out two more rounds before our time was up! At that point 2 more rounds and we would have been on the floor, but I appreciated the offer.
One of the best brunches I have had in NYC.
I ordered their specialty (a seafood stew) which was good but a bit rich for my taste. The service was great, I asked them to delay the entree course so that my friend and I would not feel rushed. They were more than compliant. One small complaint: no coffee available at meal's end.
Always a treasure & a treat! Great neighb spot for flavorful feasting: love the Brazilian seafood stew for a cool night's warming! Very nice bar selection, especially mojitos , capiriras (forgive spelling). Music when live can be a joy too-- single guitar to dance duo or bigger band adds a festive touch!
We came for a big group sunday brunch and loved it! We did the bottomless and the service was great with the drinks. Everyone got a different entre from the bottomless menu and everyone was very happy with their food!
The inside decor is very cute and the vibe is a lot of fun. Definitely would recommend Esperanto.
Funky East Village Brazilian restaurant with a casual atmosphere that delivers a varied menu of good food....we ate the hangar steak and the waitress- recommended fish stew...and were pleased....served by an amiable and attentive wait staff...neighborhood gem celebrating its 17th anniversary nd definitely worth a visit after visiting the nearby art galleries.....music nightly to enhance the ambiance...my first visit but definitely not my last.
I went with my boyfriend and my best friend and we had a lovely time. there was live music by a well-known Colombian musician, Nilko Andreas, who played Latin music and livened up the ambiance. The combination of great music and good food was perfect! Also the service was wonderful and food delicious!! Will definitely return!
Wonderful tastes of Brazil, with fine casual cuisine choices. We enjoyed the mixed seafood stew, with all the fixings. Keep it mild, or spice it up, your choice!
Excellent bar offerings - especially flavorful or classic mojitos. Ver y special happy hour & fab brunch too!
