I have been eating here for years. A very colorful and happy restaurant. The food is good and the Sunday brunches are the best. One of my favorites.
There used to be live music there and that’s why I booked a table there. But sad to find that there’s no music anymore. I will not go again.
Food was pretty good - server extremely attentive. It was a little loud (came as a couple and there was a large + loud group nearby). There is no live music (this was a Friday) and that was something advertised online. I wouldn't necessarily name this as my favorite new restaurant but a solid choice in the lower east side area.
We love visiting Esperanto and bringing friends! The staff is always so wonderful and the food is delicious. Looking forward to our next meal here!
We love going to Esperanto. It is one of our favorite restaurants. Thank you for always making it a good time.
Food and service was outstanding We will go back.
Just a fantastic place. Thank you! We will be back.
Great brunch spot. Great service
Good Brazilian food and cocktails. Nice atmosphere, sometimes a bit loud, however.
One thing that was missing from the menu was feijoada - but that's not a requirement, just nice to have...
Absolutely delicious and delightful. I look forward to coming back!
excellent restaurant - good food - good service - all waiters and the owner very amicable
The service was awesome and the waiter was very accommodating to us when we requested to mov our seat due to the rowdy and loud birthday brunch next to us. Great food, great mojito pitcher and a great value for an NYC brunch!
Very attentive, good food, and didn’t feel rushed out
Charged $50 for a pitcher of mediocre sangria for two people. Didn't bother to tell us how much it would when we ordered. Chips and guac were very mediocre.
Ton of fun!
Way too expensive given the portions and quality of the food. Food took forever to come, very lackadaisical service.
Great relaxed vibe, cool interior decor, nice sidewalk dining space
Bar food with very subtle latin/mostly Mexican “theme”
Pitchers are not great
Cons— Chose this place for a dinner with an old friend based on the reviews on Open Table, but ultimately I wouldn’t recommend this place. The service was slow and inattentive, so much so that we spent more time waiting for the check (and reminding the waiter to get the check many times) than we did eating or ordering. It was also quite muggy and hot inside because the windows were completely open and there was a hot summer thunderstorm, so we felt kind of icky. The weather obviously isn’t the restaurant’s fault, but it would be nice to have some sort of fans or air conditioning in the summer.
Pros— The food was decent, the vibe of the restaurant was cute, and happy hour goes on til 8pm.
Food was delicious and service was good, but the brunch pitcher of sangria was so weak. Even after they added more alcohol kindly for us, it still tasted like cranberry juice.
Fantastic time as always at Esperanto! Still one of my favorite places in all of NYC. It’s truly a neighborhood gem. Just bring the feijoada back please!
Mosques, mussels and coconut flan were excellent. Outside is a bit quieter.
This was the perfect spot for my friend's birthday dinner!! Great atmosphere and strong drinks, super lovely staff. Can't recommend this place enough.
The food at Esperanto does not disappoint! They have the Yuca Fries which are so good and must have when you go. It's a fun place to go with friends or even a fun date spot!
Nice restaurant and the food was quite good but not remarkable. Very tasty guacamole. The volymer was to high for conversation with morse than one other person
It didn't matter that we had a reservation, they had no seats available for us and were kind of rude about it.
