About Permanently Closed - Espana Tapas Restaurant
This restaurant is permanently closed.
The little Espaa is a tapas bar, with paella & sangria that offers a wide selection of tapas and wines to those in the Omaha, Nebraska area that wish an experience reminiscent of a trip to Spain. The menu includes cold tapas and hot tapas with many that are suitable for vegetarians. With an extensive full bar, little Espaa has specialty drinks as well as numerous martinis to go along with the beer and wine offerings.
On the cold tapas menu, notable items include ceviche, tres quesos and carpaccio. A house favorite is a paella for two which is cooked to order so requires 45 minutes to prepare. Other hot choices at little Espaa include flamb, croquetas (chicken and serrano ham dumplings), datiles (dates with serrano ham and blue cheese) and caracoles (sauted snails).

Espana Tapas Restaurant - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
VERY REGRETTABLY, this special gem of a tapas restaurant in Omaha is closing as of October 1, 2016. So this very encouraging review may only reach the few who are able to get there before it closes. A terrific place to go to dinner with a group to share a meal, conversation, and a memorable experience. Service and our waiter was fabulous, attentive without being intrusive, and we weren't on her timetable. Each dish, we ordered 10 for 4 of us, was exceptional.
Espana Tapas is a very nice place to go for something different. Ordering a number of small plates to share is great for a dinner date. The small restaurant is very eclectic and has a decent wine list. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable and would definitely eat there again.
We came to Espana for a friend's going away party. She is moving to Spain, so we thought it most appropriate. The food was fantastic, and the sizes were great for us to try multiple different things, but you could pass if there was something you weren't crazy about. All in all, I love Espana, for dates, friends or family. Good Times.
We enjoyed the meal very much! My only disappointment was the sangria was weak this time. I tried the white as well, and it just wasn't up to the standard I had remembered. The meal is pricey for the actual amount of food you get...if it were a little less of a splurge my family would go more often. Service and ambiance were excellent.
The service and ambiance are really the key highlights here. I will say that it has dipped down in "food excellence" since I last dined here 6 years ago. The food was good, but it has also changed quite a bit since then. Overall, a good, authentic place to eat with great service.
We have always loved Espana in the past. This visit for us, was just ok. We waited a very long time for our food which before had not been our experience. The menu itself seemed to have changed and it was not clear how to mark the items (tapas). We all figured it out but it would have been nice to have that explained initially. We will give it another try, maybe it was just an off night.
Tapas in general, and Espana Tapas is no exception, is a great way to socially dine with your friends. The food was tasty and beautifully presented. The server was extremely knowledgeable. Interior is upscale industrial - well appointed but not plushed. We had a broad array of hot, cold, vegan, vegetarian, and meat based tapas. Everyone went away impressed. The Red Sangria made an excellent pairing to the meal. Minor note is if you want the paella made vegan, not vegetarian, you need to call ahead and for all paella, you need 2 or more people to share it.
My boyfriend and I went to España for a little date night, and it was such a great experience! We are Omaha lifers, but for some reason, we had never been to España before. When we arrived and said it was our first time dining there, our server gave us a great rundown of overall dining experience and was very polite and friendly. The food was just to die for. We took a recommendation from Drew (who makes a killer mojito), and went with an item that wasn't even listed on the menu. It was by far the favorite for both of us. I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable and delicious dining experience. We will absolutely be back!
This place was amazing. I booked it last minute for Valentine's Day and was honestly scared to eat the food because I had no idea what it was. Our waitress however explained everything well and we decided to stay. The food was amazing and so were the drinks. Can't wait to go back again!
The food was amazing and the service was great. My only complaint was that they had added so many extra tables (many were empty) that we ended up being sat in the corner about 1ft from another couple eating dinner. It literally felt like we were having dinner with them! It was hard to concentrate on our own conversation because they were so close we couldn't help but overhear what our neighbors were talking about. I understand wanting to get as many people in on a night light Valentine's but it made us slightly uncomfortable. We were glad when they table next us was done and left. We will still go back the food was amazing!
For a Tapas joint that recommends you order at least 3 Tapas, their menu is ridiculously overpriced. We went there with a ten person group and made it a point to try as many things on the menu as possible. Of the 10-14 different tapas we ordered, only 2 were substantial enough for the cost, and only 2 were of any resounding quality. Their Patatas Fritas were of the same taste and quality as the cheesy potatoes from Taco Bell, but 10 times the price. The service was incredibly lacking. Since the restaurant automatically puts an 18% gratuity for large groups, the server seemed to not care about earning a tip or caring for his customers. The only entree, Paellas, ranged between $36 and $44 dollars (depending on the type of meat), takes 45 minutes to make, and was NOT AT ALL worth that much money. Finally, the venue would not offer individual checks, which isn't as big of an issue as the lack of service. Overall, our dinner ended up lasting over 2.5 hours with the majority of it simply waiting for our server to ever return. None of us felt the food was any kind of redeeming factor. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Have been to Espana several times. Although it is a bit pricey for the portions, small sharing plates make for a fun night out with a group (especially indecisive types that want to try a bit of everything). The sangria is great and the location is close to lots of bars and nightlife after dinner.
Came here for dinner on NYE with a group of friends. It was perfect for a small group - we were able to try lots of delicious tapas and shared the amazing seafood paella. It's just intimate enough, and we had live music while we were there.
The stuffed dates were especially amazing but it was all delicious.
If you are looking for a fun place with the opportunity to try lots of different things with great service, come here.
