España Restaurant of Amelia Island Ratings and Reviews
Delicious tapas and reasonably priced wine selection. We ordered plates to share, calamari, shrimp two different ways, with coconut and curry sauces , patatas bravas, escargot, oxtail, and pork tenderloin, all with delicious sauces and salads for four people and had more than we could finish. We will be back soon and this time will order one of the tantalizing snapper entrees.
Fabulous evening at Espana! We have been here so many times over the years and it continues to impress. Mussels special appetizer were especially yummy as well as all the fish dishes. Sat outside under the gazebo and had a quiet table with easy conversation.
This was our first visit and boy was it an incredible experience! Our server was Omar. He helped guide us through the wine list the appetizers the meal, he answered every question we had with eye contact and a smile! Omar was as much the experience as the food! We ordered garlic shrimp and escargot for appetizers along with a nice bottle of Zinfandel. The entrees we ordered were the Snapper Pablo and the grouper special. The variety of sauces, seafoods and flavors exploding in our mouths was truly an amazing treat! I can't remember having a finer meal! We will definitely be back and recommend to all!! I wish I had taken pictures!!
What an amazing experience! From the wonderful tapas to the entrees, we loved it all! The exceptional service was incredible and food was absolutely delicious! The shrimp cheviche was perfect and ask for their advice on which entrees and appetizers to try together. The chorizo appetizer, scallop entree plus the paella were all wonderful! There is a very energetic atmosphere and it is a little dark for those of us that need glasses to read the menu but other was absolutely amazing!
If you're a fan of authentic Spanish food, this is your place. There is a nice assortment of hot and cold tapas options as well as large plates. We shared the special short rib empanadas- delicious and generous enough for two. Paella was closest to those in Spain that we've had in a long time. Dimly lit, casual but pretty place with attentive service. Try it!
We had a group of women who dined at Espana last Saturday. Several of us ordered the filet with blue cheese. All but one had their meat cooked as ordered, but the one who ordered hers RARE came out overcooked (more like MEDIUM). The rest of us ate slowly so that the one woman would not be eating alone when her meal was served. The woman who was waiting kept insisting that we enjoy our dinners while they were still hot. Every one of us was completely finished our meals and eventually, the one who's beef was overcooked, cancelled her meal, which had YET to be served. Despite the fact that the rest of us enjoyed our meals, it ruined the experience for all of us! She was not charged for a meal that was not served, but no apology or other compensation was offered. I would hesitate to recommend Espana based on this experience.
Centrally located in downtown Fernandina Beach. There was an extensive list of Saturday night dinner specials, might be best to write those down somewhere with their prices. 3 of the 4 items ordered were not on the menu. Best to place specials on social media.
The staff was very helpful as always. I was having an important business meal with a client from Europe who has a second home in Spain. My guest was pleased with the service (of course) and said the Snapper dish was one of the best meals he had had in a very long time.
Thank you Espana for a wonderful night and a very happy client!
As frequent visitors to Amelia Island, we chose Espana to celebrate our anniversary dinner. My husband and I both chose fish entrees for our meal. We started with Jardinere Salad which was delicious and fresh. My husband enjoyed his snapper special and he is very picky when it comes to discerning fresh seafood. My grouper dish was exceptionally fresh and delicious with yellow rice and grilled veggies on the side. Their wines by the glass were enjoyable, with a good selection of varietals. The host gave us a split of Champagne on our way out to continue our anniversary celebration. This was a really nice touch and we will definitely be back.
This wonderfully authentic Spanish restaurant faithfully recreated the many wonderful tapas meals we ate on vacation in Spain this summer! Gambas Mozambique and mussels were both delicious but the standout dish was the calamari a la plancha; melt-in-the-mouth tender and perfectly seasoned. The grouper special entree was perfectly cooked, just on the right side of undercooked! Estrella beer and Cava added another genuine Spanish element to a great evening with lots of atmosphere. So happy we stumbled upon España while on vacation!
My wife Isabel and I celebrated our 21st anniversary at Espana and had an incredible dining experience. Chef Roberto's culinary creations were nothing short of outstanding and the service was top notch. If you're looking for authentic Spanish cuisine with fresh local seafood and a carefully crafted wine list all at an affordable price than I highly recommend to visit Espana on your next visit to beautiful Fernandina beach.
