The menu could use a boost. Does not seem that it has changed since we last went. It's a great place for a business meeting. Nice view but lacks that wow we are happy your here vibe.
Four of us decided to go for dinner before seeing a show. We made reservations for 5:30 and the show began at 8. After being seated, we waited for about 15 minutes for anybody to come to our table. We finally had to ask for our server to take our drink order. The food was very good but the service was terrible. It looked like they had 1 server for the entire restaurant. We were running out of time, so we had to ask for the check even before dessert was delivered. If you go, allow yourself a lot of time for dinner. The food is good but the service in not. I will not go back because of the service.
This place has a nice view and the food is good. However, this is the first time I've tried it since several months ago. Service leaves a lot to be desired. The receptionist at the front desk had no personality and you could barely hear her when she spoke. The table we were taken to was not completely clean, and we had to ask twice for napkins and silverware. The waiter was nice but spoke in a weird way that was creepy. Just not competitive with the rest of the restaurants in town.
I made this reservation based on a search for great restaurants in the Palm Springs area with a great view for the Easter outing with my family while we were on vacation. Upon arriving we were told our table was “ready” and we’re pointed to a table right outside. The table was dirty, not ready, had no silverware, and we had to ask for service after sitting there for awhile. It was clear that even though we were dressed up for the Easter brunch we weren’t the right type of people that deserved attention or good service. We definetly didn’t look like the average Country Club demographic and therefore were treated as such. The waiter asked us for our drink orders and that’s it. We had to ask where we go to get our food for the buffet brunch. No help and no service. It’s horrible, horrible, horrible that people still act this way. The nicest people at this place were the 2 guys making the omelettes, they were the only ones that even interacted with us. Considering we paid $55 each person it was 100% not worth it. I would never go back nor would I reccomend anyone I even remotely like go here to eat. I can’t believe that people still treat people like this in this day and age.
We are so happy they went back to serving a Brunch. All of the food was very good to excellent.
Shrimp/crab balls/crab claws/salmon/ham/prime rib and all of the salads and potatoes entries.
Had a lovely birthday dinner.
The only thing I would recommend is a wider selection of the dinner entrees. But everything else was great, service was perfect! I was also happy that my planned surprise birthday dessert for my husband worked out well.
Always a nice evening. We dine here frequently and always enjoy ourselves
Although the service was not quite up to par this time, I still plan to go back. Escena doesn't have the largest menu but everything on it is scrumptious and enough items to vary your choices. Try the Pancetta wrapped scallops. The BOMB!
We had to practically beg for service. After 15 minutes of waiting a waiter, while running by, yelled "have you been helped yet?". It didn't really get better.
Food- very very average. Thank God for the view!
Special setting..food good and consistent. Our waiter could use a few weeks of ‘charm school’ and proper table service.
Waiters in the bartenders are incredible. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I have never seen a restaurant manager work hard .
The food was good and fairly priced but the service was so slow it ruined the experience.
Some of the worst service I’ve experienced a long time. Our waiter came back twice. Constantly had empty water glasses. He seemed like he did not want to be there. The views were the only thing that saved it. Probably will not go back
I've had lunch at Escena a few times after golf and the food has been very good. Our dinner this evening was also good. We all had bacon wrapped scallops. Ample serving and very tasty. The view is lovely, especially for a golf enthusiast. Good service too!
Service was very slow. The table next to us was never cleared for the 2 hours we were there. We heard other tables complaining about their wait times and when their food arrived, it was not hot. Too bad because this would be a gem of a place with the desert' s best patio but we will think hard before trying it again.
Great staff and service even though it was busy!
Extremely poor service-usually first rate-it took 1 1/2 hours for a dinner. Waiter was absent for 30 minutes.
Enjoyed dinner and choices. Service a bit slow. Good ambience.
I’ve dined here before, but although the food was good the restaurant seemed under staffed. The hostess was turning the tables and reused placemats used by previous diners. The server was so rushed he misunderstood our order and split my husband’s salad although we didn’t ask for it. If I dine there again it won’t be during high season.
Escena's scenic view and food were excellent, but the service was quite slow the evening we were there.
This is one of the most beautiful dining rooms in Palm Springs and the view is unparalleled. The service was a little uneven and they brought me the wrong appetizer. Other than that, my only complaint was the big screen tv's. I understand having them on during the day but in the evening, they really spoil the ambiance of the room. Overall though, it is worth the drive out to Escena.
Having a late reservation, I waited for my guest at the bar and was joined there by guest. We finished our beverage, asked the bartender for a menu only to be advised the kitchen was closed at 8:35p. Very disappointed.
Service was uncharacteristicly slow.
Portions of some meals were cold.
The patio offers the best outdoor dining spot in the entire Valley. Obviously it's best during daylight hours, but it's always great to eat outside. Indoor dining is fine, but lacks the full spectacular view. Food and service are very good and dependable. The only negative is that they now charge for their potato chips and chipotle sauce. I come here mostly for lunch, and always bring out-of-town visitors.
Dinner here is always great as is the view and the food. Service is inattentive and understaffed. Had to leave our table two times to find a person to get something we asked for repeatedly. Reservation was for 6:00...didn't get food until after 7:00...very slow service, but if have time to waste, it is great...
Took out of town guests and had a great time. We all enjoyed our time there.
We will return next season when we fly to P.S. for the winter - we love it there...
thanks
We brought out of town friends to Escena for a delightful lunch just prior to taking the house tour at Sunnylands. Our friends thought it was the quintessential Palm Springs day. The view from the outdoor patio is gorgeous and the food and service excellent.
We had a lovely dinner at the escena shared we shared a wonderful glass of red wine and had the scallops for dinner very tasty.
Soup was excellent, no crackers??
French fries/steak fries were a bit soggy, not fresh.
Amazing Mountain View.
The hostess wasn’t very welcoming. Our reservations were for 615 and we didn’t get seated until 645. She was rarely at the front desk to help people. Had to get our own drinks while we waited. Once seated, service was much better and the food was good.
This place used to be 4* quality. Now it's 2.5*. The view is really the draw. The menu has been downsized and the quality of the food has dropped. It was OK, but not for those prices. Table and floor inside were dirty; my chair was wobbly and coming apart. Table did not have condiments. Service WAS AGONIZINGLY SLOW!!!! The patio did have customers but they weren't being overrun with a crowd. And this was a Thursday for lunch.
We always have taken out-of-town visitors here for both the amazing food and the view. Now...we'll have to think of how to just go for the view. Very sad and disappointing.
Great spot for a casual dinner. It is beautiful setting for this restaurant, only done out by the delicious menu!
Terrible service! It took one hour to get food and it was not busy! Food was cold and sandwich bread was soggy.
We eat here frequently and may not return for a while.
Hard to pin down but I believe it’s the right balance of everything. It’s just really great.
We were impressed with Escena on our first trip to Palm Springs. The food, service, and value were excellent. The beautiful views were outstanding.
Food is always good, service is always indifferent.
Such a nice peaceful oasis in Palm Springs. Great meal
We had an enjoyable meal at this restaurant. It has one of the most beautiful settings in Palm Springs. You see a picturesque golf course with the backdrop of the mountains. The food was very good. The chicken milanese and hamburgers were very tasty. The service was very attentive. We went on a Sunday night so it was not busy. We would like to go back during the day as it was at dusk and we didnt get the full view.
