I took my wife for her birthday. Parking was horrible! Parking was in a dirt field, with lots of low areas. When we arrived, Sam the door man advised they had a party of 50 and that they were running 15-20 behind. He mafe it right with a complimentary glass of wine for my wife and I. We were eventually seated. The waitress was nice and attentive, initially. We were served our food. I ordered the shrimp meal. I received 5 shrimp, half a peach and a small over cooked baked potato, which cost me $31.00...that is $6.00 per shrimp. My wife had shrimp dish that contained shrimp, a few more than mine and it was $40...the food was not worth the money. When we were ready to take care of our overpriced meal, we had to wait for awhile because the food for the party of 50 was being served.
Walking out a guy was complaining he was charged $15 for a baked potato.
The building is old and dingy. I would not recommend this place to a homeless man seeking a free meal.
Someone said you get what you pay for...in this case they lied!
Our dining experience was very enjoyable. The food was outstanding and our waiter was excellent. We never wanted for anything.
We have always gone to Ernest's for our Anniversary this year I was disappointed! I couldnt wait for the marinated crab claws only to my disappointment they were out! I got a crab dish as my entre and it wasnt good at all. I was so excited for this night and was let down!
We made an 8 o’clock reservation arrived on time and they where just seating 6 o’clock people! After serval people came out saying they were sat at 6 and still did not even have their appetizers need less to say we left went to another upscale restraint and where sat immediately! I would not recommend this place to anyone!
We have really enjoyed Ernest's Orleans in the past when we visited the Shreveport/Bossier area. Not this time. My wife loves the crab claws which influenced my decision to reserve a table for our anniversary dinner. We arrived on time, checked in, and were told they were running a little behind, so we decided to wait in the bar and have a cocktail. The bar is packed and they only have one bartender. He was really good and really fast but he was still overwhelmed. More than 1 1/2 hours later we still have not been seated. While in the bar we met another couple, who also had a 7:00 pm reservation. Some time after 8:30 but before 9:00 the maitre'd came into the bar calling a name and party of four. I said, we're a party of four, not the four you called, but he seated us. Ernest's was featuring a special menu, featuring a crab claw appetizer, and of course, they were out of crab claws. After waiting some more, I told our server to bring our entrees in to go boxes and the check. We were not happy.
In short, they way overbooked their restaurant, ignored their reservation customers as near as I could tell, and were short on staff. Ruined what was intended to be our romantic anniversary dinner.
We were very disappointed. They were very busy and our food took forever. Our waiter would not even check on us. We would have ordered more drinks while we waited. We had a price fixe menu and he tried to skip our salad and acted irritated when we asked for it. Also, they ran out of the coffee dessert drink and so brought us a frozen pecan liquor something at the end. We will not go back.
The food is good, but over-priced. The service is prompt and courteous, but not professional. There is nothing bad about Ernest’s, but it is priced in line with Emeril’s and Commander’s and cannot deliver what those establishments can.
Ernest’s does have some unique dishes that you cannot get anywhere else. It is worth your while to go for the marinated crab claws and hot shrimp.
I used this site to get a reservation early only to find out they didn’t receive it, as a result we had to settle for waiting for a seat in the loud bar area instead of the romantic quiet dining area, me and my wife go there once a year for our anniversary, we will NOT be back

Had a great time. Sat in the bar area, singer was awesome. Food was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We had reservations for dinner and when we showed up on time, the man at the front told us they were busy and short on staff and the waiters were getting mad for over seating customers. At first I thought, how is that our problem, we made reservations 2 weeks ago, but waited patiently and were seated about 15 minutes later. I can say the ambiance was beautiful, but the best part about our meal was the fact that the young man who keeps the water filled was on point. The complimentary bread was unique in taste, slightly nutty, but pleasant. We started with fried mozzarella that was bland and tasted like it was frozen and was served with a marinara soup that was more water than anything. Then my spinach salad was nothing more than raw spinach leaves, a small amount of chopped up egg, and some gelatinous substance I couldn't put my finger on, dressed in an odd raspberry vinegarette. I ordered their spaghetti and meatballs in their famous homemade marinara sauce and my husband ordered fettuccine alfredo. The portions were huge, but missed the mark on taste. The fettuccine alfredo was bland, but otherwise just your basic dish. Nothing special. The spaghetti and meatballs was a disaster. I've had better at other places in town, some even chain restaurants. They leave parts of bayleaves mixed in with the sauce, which is undetectable in the dim lighting, making it an extremely unpleasant surprise when you bite into it. The meatballs were dry and the dish was basically sitting in a ton of water. To top it off, we waited 30 minutes for our check and our waitress only had two more tables which were parties of 3 or less. The prices are quite unreasonable for the quality of food you receive. It's definitely somewhere we won't go again.
Restaurant was recommended by my son. We ordered crab claws for appetizer they showed up after meal arrived. Our waitress never came back to table to bring condiments for our very very small bake potato. In the mean time three other waitresses came by to take our order. Crab claws were great, main dish was excellent. I was not impressed with the bourbon pecan pie or the bread pudding. Bread was excellent. Meal with drinks was 200 dollars for a sub standard experience.
My friend and I sat down at Ernest at 5:20 and did not leave until 8:00. The food and service took forever. When we did see our waiter, he acted like we were putting him out. It took 30 minutes just to get our check. The food was ok but definitely not worth the price. We asked to split a pasta dinner and he said no problem. When we got home, we noticed he charged us $10 to split our meal.
Very old building. Dining area had a terrible odor. Waitress was very scattered. The fried crawfish tails were so salty we could barely eat. The steak was ok. I had the snapper Earnest the crabmeat was good but the fish was awful. The texture/flavor was just horrible. The only side offered was a potato all of which had some form of onions involved. Will never go back!
Fried shrimp appetizer was two shrimp and were frozen and not fresh. Trout Allemondine didn’t come out with almonds and I’m not sure the fish was actually trout. The dish was covered in Worcestershire sauce . Very poor food quality.
We had an incredible experience here. The service was absolutely remarkable! The food was some of the best I've ever had! Five stars!
I was very impressed by the service and attentiveness of the staff. We were seated by Ernest and served by his nephew. All of the staff including Ernest checked on us frequently and made the night very special as we were there for a belated valentines date. The food was excellant and portions were generous. It was not nearly expensive as i thought it would be. It waa a wonderful experience and will definately be a repeat.

I have always loved this restaurant, but I had not been there in a while. It was perfect for a late Valentine's Day. The food was excellent. The service was excellent, and we had a fabulous time.
Great experience. Love the old charm of the place. Good food, music. They were extremely busy with it being Valentine's day....even with reservations. But the power gave us free wine while we waited. 🍷

We had a reservation that was lost and Ernest himself come out and seated my wife and I. It was our anniversary and he didn't want us waiting. The staff was amazing and the food was extraordinary. My wife and I had a great time. Highly recommend you try it.

Absolute worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Our dinner reservation was for 7:00 and we did not leave the restaurant until 10:00. The only time we saw our waiter during the entire 3-hour experience was when he took our order. My husband had to physically flag down our waiter just to get our check (which took an additional 30 min before it was brought to us)! The food was decent, but way overpriced for the quality. We were overcharged on our bill for something we did not order, and our waiter said there was "nothing he could do about it." When I asked to speak to the owner "Ernest", he would not even come to our table to acknowledge us. As a business owner, one would think that the satisfaction of your customers would be a top priority...apparently not! The table across from us also had a reservation for 7:00 and never even received their food!! It is obvious that the negative, apathetic attitude of the owner has trickled down to his employees. Leadership starts at the top, and this place is clearly in need of good management. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to waste your time, money, and leave feeling aggravated.
this Shreveport landmark needs a much-needed renovation! Starting with the heating system. We almost froze, and they had one small "heater" in the room that only provided heat for the 4 people sitting closest to it. The lighting was non-existent, needed a flashlight to see my food. Had to swap chairs for my mother because hers was about to fall over. So old!! We all pay a lot for this food so I know they have to have the money for new chairs and heating unit!! All of this put a big thumbs down on going back.

While service was good, it took a very long time to get our entrees. Also, I felt it was a bit overpriced.
Thought the food was not worth the price. I’ve spent $200 on a meal for two and did not regret it. Tonight I did.
I love this restaurant. My family and I loved everything, and we even talked to Mr. Earnest. He was a very down to earth person.
Amazing food, huge portion!
I have been here several times and never disappointed with food. Everything we had ( shrimp pasta, chicken pasta and shrimp meal ) was not good. The pasta had a sweet cinnamon taste and the shrimp had no season to taste. Whomever cooked ( Friday Jan. 12) did not do a good job.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was very niced on the inside. Everyone was nice and pleasant to my wifed and I. The waiter was kinda hardd to understand but he was very tentative to our needs. The food was delicious and hot to the touch, and tasted excellent. The only concern was to that we was under tghes impression that the flowers on the table was a gift but they wasnt. They cost more then our meal and my wife dont like flowers. Other then the cost of the flowers everything else was great.
Excellent dining experience, as always! When you go to Ernest's, they always make you feel special. Wonderful food and a great atmosphere.
I grew up in Shreveport and my father used to take the family to Earnest’s when Earnest Jr’s father was the main chef. I will tell you that Earnest’s still doesn’t miss a beat. It’s the finest! We liked it so much we are there two days in a row.
The atmosphere was nice, and the service was amazing. The food was excellent. My steak was very tasty.
Great food, service, music, professional wait staff. Only downfall of our evening was 3or 4 little children jumping around on the dance floor while music was playing. Finally had to ask if we could have the floor so we could dance for my wife’s birthday. Just bad parenting. No faults to the restaurant.
