Ernest's Orleans Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation that was lost and Ernest himself come out and seated my wife and I. It was our anniversary and he didn't want us waiting. The staff was amazing and the food was extraordinary. My wife and I had a great time. Highly recommend you try it.
Absolute worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Our dinner reservation was for 7:00 and we did not leave the restaurant until 10:00. The only time we saw our waiter during the entire 3-hour experience was when he took our order. My husband had to physically flag down our waiter just to get our check (which took an additional 30 min before it was brought to us)! The food was decent, but way overpriced for the quality. We were overcharged on our bill for something we did not order, and our waiter said there was "nothing he could do about it." When I asked to speak to the owner "Ernest", he would not even come to our table to acknowledge us. As a business owner, one would think that the satisfaction of your customers would be a top priority...apparently not! The table across from us also had a reservation for 7:00 and never even received their food!! It is obvious that the negative, apathetic attitude of the owner has trickled down to his employees. Leadership starts at the top, and this place is clearly in need of good management. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you want to waste your time, money, and leave feeling aggravated.
this Shreveport landmark needs a much-needed renovation! Starting with the heating system. We almost froze, and they had one small "heater" in the room that only provided heat for the 4 people sitting closest to it. The lighting was non-existent, needed a flashlight to see my food. Had to swap chairs for my mother because hers was about to fall over. So old!! We all pay a lot for this food so I know they have to have the money for new chairs and heating unit!! All of this put a big thumbs down on going back.
I have been here several times and never disappointed with food. Everything we had ( shrimp pasta, chicken pasta and shrimp meal ) was not good. The pasta had a sweet cinnamon taste and the shrimp had no season to taste. Whomever cooked ( Friday Jan. 12) did not do a good job.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and it was very niced on the inside. Everyone was nice and pleasant to my wifed and I. The waiter was kinda hardd to understand but he was very tentative to our needs. The food was delicious and hot to the touch, and tasted excellent. The only concern was to that we was under tghes impression that the flowers on the table was a gift but they wasnt. They cost more then our meal and my wife dont like flowers. Other then the cost of the flowers everything else was great.
Great food, service, music, professional wait staff. Only downfall of our evening was 3or 4 little children jumping around on the dance floor while music was playing. Finally had to ask if we could have the floor so we could dance for my wife’s birthday. Just bad parenting. No faults to the restaurant.
My husband and I celebrated our 2 year Anniversary and his Birthday. You have the choice of the quiet dining room or another room with the bar and live entertainment. We loved everything about Ernest's from the moment we walked in. My husband even said he believes this is the best restaurant we have ever been to together. We will definitely be going back every year to celebrate our marriage.
I grew up in Shreveport so I was very familiar with the name. Visiting for Thanksgiving, some of us in the family decided to eat out instead of cooking before Thanksgiving the next day. I’ve lived in New Orleans for many years and thought this may be something similar to a meal at one of the Brennan’s restaurants in New Orleans. Overall the food was not bad but was way overdone with butter. The price of the entrees were extremely overpriced for faux Cajun/South Louisiana food. While all the staff were pleasant, the service was atrocious. We own a restaurant in New Orleans and could tell exactly what was happening. They gave us a girl that was in her first or second night and did not have much backup for her. I anticipated many mistakes when order came out and I was correct. We never got the appetizer but also was not charged for it. I ordered the special which was like the redfish dish on menu but different sauce. She appearantly was not trained on what comes with dishes. Another waiter told us the specials but then disappeared. This dish came out wrong but I agreed to accept it as I figured it would take much longer to correct. We sat at table for about 20 minutes before waitress asked us if we needed a menu! Again I don’t blame this new waitress, I blame management for being this unaware. So i’ve always wondered about this place, and my questions were answered. The most impressive thing was probably the memory of the valet service worker. I looked for this to be a special night but ended up being a disappointment. We tipped waitress 20% for doing the best that she could. I hope she got this and not a “trainer” or management. The story on the menu was very misleading about the knowledge of their waiters.
The food was very tastefully flavorful. The service was outstanding. It's a bit pricey, but for a special occasion such as an anniversary, it is a great place to celebrate. We will definitely go again. Only two downsides ... parking is not good as the lot is not paved and there is a giant hole you have to navigate around just to get into the parking lot, and the dessert we chose (pecan pie) was not up to the standard of the rest of the meal.
I was extremely disappointed in the prices of the food for the amount you got. The online menu is very deceiving, the prices on the online menu is one of the reasons we tried Earnests. The prices on the menu at the restaurant was almost double what was online menu. My daughter ordered a snapper dish that came with a baked potato which was so undercooked that you couldn't even cut into it with a fork, it was not edible. Her plate consisted of a small piece of fish with a baked potato, no salad, nothing else and it was 40.00. I had the small limestone salad which was maybe a half cup of lettuce with a little crab meat for 14 dollars. we both drank water and had small crab claws for appetizers for $20.00 maybe 8-10 crab claws. The best food was the bread they brought out before the meal. Service was good but there were only 3 tables in restaurant. I feel like the menu online should be updated so that you are not shocked by prices when you do go especially if on a budget and going for a special occasion. I will not be going back here again, I can have 3 meals in a nice restaurant for what I paid for 1 meal here.
We traveled to Shreveport for a special occasion and chose Ernest's Orleans because of all the 5-star reviews. The place is cheap; from the ambiance, the outdated decor, and especially the table settings. However, the cost of this place is out of sight. When you spend $200+ for a special dinner, you have the right to expect a $200 + value. The service was terrible, the wine we selected form their white wine list was out of stock (the waiter did not even know it was out of stock) and the food was marginal, at best! If you want to spend a lot of money for terrible service, shabby decor, and over-rated cuisine, then Ernest's Orleans is your kind of place. It was a terribly disappointing restaurant.
First the positive - the valet was super sweet as was the wait staff. Also, the entertainment was really good and the bread was tasty. Now for the negative - the building is very dated and the food is pricey given the portion size. My fish was overcooked and the crab topping had little flavor. Our dessert tasted like store-bought pound cake. I've eaten at much better restaurants in the Shreveport area for a 1/3 the cost!
One of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time! The atmosphere and live music were wonderful and the service and food was second to none!! The owner checked on us personally and was one of the nicest people we've ever met. Everyone there went over and beyond and it did not go unnoticed, we can can't wait to go back! The turtle soup was amazing, definitely the best I've ever had!
