About Ernest's at NAIT
Ernest's Dining Room at NAIT has been aptly described as the "jewel in the crown" of Hokanson Centre for Culinary Arts in the School of Skilled Trades. Ernest's decor is described as "understated elegance". Tasteful compliments of cherry wood and brass highlights, a beautiful rock feature wall, muted lighting and attention to detail provide the room with a distinct corporate ambience. Critical acclaim and numerous accolades identify the "haute cuisine" prepared by second year Culinary Arts diploma students as "outstanding". OpenTable diners voted top 100 in Canada. Seasoned chef instructors emphasize the importance of using high quality local regional products. Mastery of traditional cookery combined with contemporary artistry has resulted in a truly electric cuisine. Elegant service is provided by eager Culinary and Hospitality students. Ernest's at NAIT Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful lunch ! No complaints at all. One of us had the lamb shank and was blown away with the flavors. Chicken and petit tenderloin dishes were similar experience too!
The service only lacked a bit due to the inexperience of the staff --let's face it they are students and it was their first day! Absolutely would return --- maybe dinner next time! :)
We love everything about you absolutely wonderful and delicious buffet showcase.
A little portions are very elegantly served. Your new variety of appetizer are so delicious and creative with superior experience for our European taste.
Each section had been a great surprise to choose and to enjoy the food and desserts; European like donuts, Sasher tort and best baklava!
We love your kindness and hospitality because nobody in our city can compare with your service and food.
Our sincere thank you to everyone who created this special event last Friday 🌹
Love and hugs

The food was totally awesome. If you want a good taste and a good variety of it Earnest's is a good place to go.
The not so great part was that our server did not inform us of where all the food was or anything so I had to seek someone to inform us.
Also felt completely rushed. Doors opened later then our 11am booking. After we waited for our waiter to come explain to us where all the food was, we didn't get food on our plate till about 11:20 when we were informed that we had to give up our table at 12pm. This was an anniversary celebration for my spouse and I and 40 minutes to rush to eat and get food was totally unacceptable.
But, friendly staff and very good food.
I have had the pleasure of dining at Ernest's about 5 five times with co-workers and friends and because of the quality of food, service, location, great parking, privacy and affordable prices, I recommend this high quality restaurant to all.
Thanks for a great evening.
The dining was generally enjoyable. Music selection was appropriate for dining. It would be nice if the volume of music could be turned down a little. Please ask guest not to laugh too loud. Then, it will be an execellent place for quiet and enjoyable dining experience. It will be more suitable for the ambiance if proper dress code could be reinforced. For example, a young man attended dining in a muscle shirt or tank top while we were dining there.
We had a fabulous Thursday, opening night meal. Candace was professional and yet we could have a few laughs with her also... sign of a great server when they can read their guests.
We were celebrating our anniversary. They brought us 2 glasses of very tasty sparkling wine to start. Very nice touch.
Yellowfin Tiradito with charred corn, red onion, jalapenos and lemongrass sauce.
- All very good with the exception of the "charred corn". The corn was not to my liking, very dry and chewy.
Bison Carpaccio with shaved Parmesan, marinated greens and Starfruit Chutney.
- Extremely good! Highly recommend.
Raspberry sorbet to cleanse the pallet was absolutely delicious.
Grilled Lamb Rack with smoked couscous, carrot puree, asparagus and lamb reduction.
- Husband loved ALL of it even though he normally does not enjoy couscous or purees. I tasted the couscous and my word of caution is if you do not care for the smoky taste then you likely will not care for the couscous but as I said, my husband really enjoyed it.
Beef Striploin with grilled cornbread, Shimeji mushrooms, asparagus and bacon & pea ragout.
- All was very tasty. I'm not a cornbread person, however, it was small and sweet. The only item I would have added are a couple of small roasted potatoes since the cornbread was the starch.
Husband had the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Bourbon Vanilla ice cream that he enjoyed.
This is "Fine" dining so do not expect to be rushed and out the door in an hour. This was a 2 hour enjoyable meal. Cost $97 + tax and well worth it.
Thank you all for making our evening an enjoyable one.
