Great food, service , beer and music. Cool space!
Our experience was terrific. Our server, Angel did a great job and was very courteous and professional. One if their managers, John also stopped by and made sure all was great. He informed us of the entertainment they offer weekly and was very interested in our return which is inevitable. Highly recommend
Went for dinner but ended up at the bar due to some large parties in the restaurant. Decided on a few apps and drinks. The mango jalapeño margarita was great. The apps were all good but we especially liked the buffalo chicken egg rolls.
Would not go back. Loud, food just OK, "balcony" seating is unappealing but a bit quieter.
Ordered baby back ribs which were tough and very salty. Service was very good.
Disappointing. We chose the Taproom because we were going to a show nearby. We'd never been there before. The server was very nice, but the service itself was bad. One of our appetizer (Tuscan flatbread) was quite good. The rest of our meal was either average or mediocre. One ordered a medium-well burger which was actually burnt. Very expensive for the quality. The room itself is interesting though a bit loud. (It's interesting that the rating choices go from "Quiet" to "Energetic". How about "Too noisy"?)
It was very loud. We were given a table upstairs which has no ambiance at all. Our waiter was very nice but my soup and meal arrived at the same time. By the time I finished my soup, dinner was cold. I ate basically nothing on my plate. You would think someone would ask if something were wrong or even offer to box it, but nothing.
Waited too long for our drinks and food. Never got to finish my food as we had to leave for a concert down the street. Music was way to loud; couldn't hear the table conversation and we were in the back of the room. Won't be back.
We chose the restaurant for it's proximity to the Grand Opera House. The food and service were very good and the prices were reasonable. The only drawback was the volume of the live music. We were seated downstairs toward the front of the restaurant and when the singer was performing, it was very difficult to carry on a conversation. If we had known this ahead of time, we would requested 2/F seating which might have been quieter. The music detracted from our dining experience.
I'm not going to get into the details, but the service on this visit was not nearly as good as we experienced on other visits.
I ordered the porchetta bruschetta sandwich & it was awlful ☹️ Alcoholic drinks are pricey too 😬
Our food was delicious and our waiter Dwayne was excellent.
Service excellent on busy Saturday night dinner before show at the Grand. Tomato soup and flatbread were perfect for a chilly evening. Stag friendly and attentive.
I haven't been to the tap room in a few years because my last experience was not very great! I am very happy to say the improvement was wonderful! The staff were very responsible and attentive with the patrons and the atmosphere was energetic! The only down fall was the menu! Just not enough of a selection for my taste!
We liked the place and the food. Service was a little slow - but there was a large party there that needed attention.
We were seated upstairs and the ambiance was definitely different. The noise bounces off the hard walls and it is loud! Our server Wayne was great - he had a lot of tables but checked on everyone frequently. There were others there in support so that was great, long bar service is the only reason for 4 stars here.
Great Friendly Service. They have good food and plenty of TV's located around the bar. I have been here before and will definitely be back.
We were first time diners. It seemed like a good place to stop in after work and wait out the rush-hour traffic or have a pre-theater meal. The bar looked like a lively area. We made reservations and were seated quickly up on the second level balcony. The view of the downstairs was disappointing. Our server was attentive but the mushroom tacos were disappointing; very limey. Our meals came quickly and we made it to The Grand in plenty of time. I would like to go back when I didn't have any place to go to afterward, so I could relax a little more and get the feel of the place better.
Our service was great as was the food. The cool thing was our server from our 1st visit stopped over to say hello and make sure all was good w us. Nice to be remembered being only there twice. Wayne is a great guy and is very professional. We had the opportunity to meet the Mgr/Owner (not sure which) named Elvis. He was also a terrific guy and made sure out visit went well and that we'd be back in the future. Highly recommend this place.
Manager very involved in serving his patrons. Menu, although small, provided a nice range of options. Each menu item sampled was well presented and prepared, served at the right temperature and was extremely tasty. The layout of the establishment, with seating areas scattered around the premises as well as on two floors, made the accomplishment of the second comment above to be quite a task, but the wait staff managed it, with quite a bit of activity. My dining companion's dish, pistachio crusted flounder, was attractively presented, of a appropriate portion and pleased her fish lover's palate. I ordered the more plebeian fish and chips. Without a hint of hyperbole, it was the best I have ever had. The fish was nicely battered and left in the oil the exactly correct amount of time, leaving it moist and flaky. The accompanying steak fries were the hard to attain combination of crispy exterior and creamy texture inside. Coleslaw as crisp and in a minimalist dressing and accompanied by slices of half cured dill pickles that, if it were not for the wonderfully prepared fish, might have been the star of the dish. We preceded our entrees with the tomato bisque for me (outstanding) and the calamari for my wife, which she loved. I poached the deep fried jalapeno slices from her; I might have enjoyed an entire plate of them.
My only negative comment, and one for which there is no apparent solution, is that the vaulted ceiling in the old bank, accompanied by the brick and otherwise hard surfaced walls, led to a noisy condition that made for difficult conversation and stymied the very talented young man on a guitar with a very fine voice from providing a fine performance.
All in all, if you are planning to attend an performance at the Grand, half a block away, I heartily recommend that you dine here first. (Although we did not take advantage of it, it also appeared they were still open when we passed on our way to the car after the show)
Stopped in on a weekday evening pre-theatre. But it was the 1st evening of March Madness. Although there weren't that many people there, they were a young after work crowd with most playing an indoor basketball shooting hoops game with 15 or 20 toy sized basketballs. As a result, the noise level was epic.
We opted for some tacos and they were very good with fresh ingredients. Nice beer selection. The service was great.
I would recommend and go again as long as I am in a mood for this type of atmosphere.
Live band was good, if not the reason we stopped in. Decibel level was a bit on the high side (98 dB) - but hey, some might enjoy that assault on the senses.
Service reasonably good, all things considered, and prices reasonable, too. They are in a perfect spot for those taking in a show at the Grand Opera, although a few blocks off the main street drops one in quite a seedy environment, complete with drug deals in plain sight.
Great food and service... Dinner before a show. Thank you for being a taproom that offers Bud Light... A big win for you and me.
Great service and great food. This was my first time here but I really enjoyed myself. They had live music which was great. I highly recommend going!!
Maise was a great server and provided my girlfriend and I with great service. The beers I asked for she said went well with my food selection as well as the wine for my girlfriend.
I've lived in the building for over 5 years and am just recently becoming a regular. The new chef is putting out some amazing dishes. Service has improved as well. Loving it!
Decent food, questionable service. Our server admitted to being a novice and it showed.
Service was fast and good. Food was less than stellar, average at best! Drinks were expensive.
Second time at the restaurant and disappointed both times. Sub par vs. sister restaurant Chelsea Tavern. Will likely not return!
One of a handful of restaurants in the city that’s open late. Service is friendly and on time. Food can be inconsistent. During our first visit our food was impeccable, this time, it lacked the flavor and distinct flair we expected. It won’t stop us from coming back as we really enjoy the atmosphere and proximity to the playhouse and concert venues in the area.
We had a delicious meal at Ernest & Scott. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. The only down side was our seating. We were in a booth in the bar area and felt a draft from the front door every time it opened.
Inattentive waiter, fortunately a trainee eventually came over and was very helpful. VERY long wait for dinner which was a very run of the mill burger. Would not return.
This was our 1st visit and definitely not our last. We found it via Groupon. The food was cooked to perfection and our service was professional by Wayne. Highly recommended
We went before a show at the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and even received a 20% discount when we showed our tickets. Everyone enjoyed their food, especially the Dijon chicken.
Will def go back to the taproom
While i had a good experience here there needs to be some improvement for this restaurant to obtain a higher rated from me. Every time I patronize this restaurant it takes quite some time to be greeted by a server; same has happened when I have sat at the bar. We had to have been seated about 10-15 minutes before the waitress came over and the restaurant was not crowded at all. The manager even came over to ask if someone had been over because it then took another 10 minutes just to get water. The food was good however I have not had anything here that makes me want to visit more often to get. It is a very nice location and ambience is always lovely but more needs to be done to be more customer pleasing and friendly.
Good food prepared and served quickly enough for those on lunch hour.
Great place. We were in the area for a concert at the Grand Opera House and this was a perfect choice. Nice food options and very good service. Nice large bar as well. Would return!
Served water that tasted of clorox. I think that they didn't rinse the pitcher or water dispenser after cleaning it. Waitress thought that we were complaining about city water taste. We insisted that the water was tainted. We were given fresh glasses of water. It did taste bad but not of bleach. Only a casual apology. No manager asking about our health from the experience.
This was a fun restaurant. The Eagles game was on the TVs and there was a lively crowd around the bar enjoying the game. The service was a bit slow, but there was only one bartender and he was also a server. Food was fine - we had hamburgers. Flatbread appetizer was small but tasty.
Service was great and food was very good. We had a reservation for 10 and with bad weather 4 could not make it. They were very accommodating for whatever our group wanted. Would definitely recommend for others.
