Brandon took meticulous care. Menu was perfect
All aspects of the restaurant are at its highest level. Every dish tasted as it should have tasted.
Absolutely an amazing experience! One of the Central Valleys best places to have a dinner. They take you away on a special journey.
We had an amazing meal and appreciated the quality of service that Brandon provided.
Always a wonderful experience. Perfect for all those special occasions.
Wonderful dinner, will come back soon, can't wait for the next tasting menu.
Great service!!! Everything was amazing!! Would definitely go there again.
Food was very good. Service lacking. Dropped the ball somewhere mid meal. We were given all sorts of instructions for Covid protocol when they confirmed the reservation. None of this was done when we arrived at the restaurant.
It would be nice if people could recall seeing you especially if you have diner at the same restaurant 3 times in a row...
This was an amazing place to celebrate my birthday this year with my family. The overall experience was top notch. Thanks to the amazing service (especially Hunter and Gabby). Hunter made sure I felt very special on my day, accommodated to every need and answered every question I had. The food's quality and taste were second to none. Everything was absolutely delicious! The ambience of the place is whimsical and very quaint. I loved every minute in that place!
We were set up to eat outside in the garden but it had rained and they had us inside one of the dining rooms - we were the only people in the room. Our appetizers (oysters and tempura) were excellent, the wedge salad was the best I've ever had, and our dinner choices were delicious (lamb and scallops). Our waitress was attentive and perfect. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our Golden Anniversary. And we were given a complementary glass of champagne at the end of our meal. Love Erna's Elderberry House!
Wonderful gem in the area. Highly recommend!
My wife and I cannot express how amazing our stay and our dinner was. Truly magical and something we won’t ever forget. Amazing food, hospitality and venue in every sense of the word.
Very exquisite. Service is awesome! Very clean! I didn't see any flaws.
Beautiful setting on the patio. The pork belly appetizer was superb. I had the duck for my main course and it was so tender and flavorful. The wine selection is great. The Sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting our wine. A great experience
Ever since I started dating my wife she had told me about Erna’s. I finally tried it. It was amazing.
Don’t miss this place! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the whole dining experience.
Superb in every way! Elegant outdoor seating with garden views and serene fountain. Fabulous, creative cuisine lovingly prepared. Best of all was the hospitality and quality of service. Erica the floor captain and her entire team did their great work with utmost professionalism, caring and class. Sommelier (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was delightful, expert and very helpful. Dining at Erna’s was a sublime experience, like a mini-vacation in itself. Perfect for special occasions, or to make any day a special occasion.
Exceptional service with Hunter! Food was delicious and garden patio was very nice!
Brilliant! Setting, Service and Food/Drinks were all perfection (especially given the very remote location). Anyone visiting Oakhurst that likes fine dining....it is a must!
Elegant outdoor patio dining. The grounds were well maintained. Ordered the bread, crab cake and tempura vegetable/shrimp appetizer. Main dishes were heirloom tomato, soup, and vegetarian plate. The service was excellent. Great news: we've dined here many times in the past. Portions back then were very modest. Portions now are normalized for American palate. In fact - we ordered too much food!
did patio dining, food was delicious, service was very good
This is our first dining out since the COVID19 pandemic. It's outside and the service is very attentive and detailed. Every dish is like a piece of art and the taste is awesome！
Delicious excellent food in courtyard. Beware the mosquitos if dining late in the evening!
Place is unique. Little slice of heaven. Highly recommend it!
The ambiance was just beautiful and service outstanding. The food was good, but some dishes better than others. I recommend the crab cakes and wedge salad. Even though asked it we were celebrating and we told them it was our 10 year anniversary, nothing was done so that was a little disappointing. I would go back again but for the price expected a little more.
We dined in the outdoor patio restaurant area and we felt like we were in paradise. The setting was beautiful with the landscaping, water fountain, nearby hotel chateau and the mountain forest. We have been coming here for over twenty years and each time is a wonderful experience. The food is always an artistic presentation and is delicious. The staff are very well trained in their profession, are always able to answer our questions and they are very friendly in their interactions with us. Coming here feels like a unique experience each time we return. They have certainly earned their five diamond rating.
We love the food, service and ambiance at Elderberry House. Even during the corona virus they made dining outdoors a beautiful experience!
Outdoor dining, in the shade. Lovely fountain nearby. Excellent service. The perfect interlude from COVID19 quarantine . Adequate table spacing. Courteous staff.
Erna's staff was very good about establishing a "safe environment" protocol. They called beforehand to go over the guidelines, then sent the guidelines via email requesting a response that I had received and read the email. We were greeted at the door after ringing the doorbell and promptly seated on the lovely outdoor patio-flowers, large trees, a fountain, shade and a lovely view. The food was as delectable as ever. We both enjoyed a glass of the Coquelicot Estate Vineyards, Santa Ynez sparkling Rosé of sangiovese pét-nat and ordered the bread starter. My husband ordered the California mission fig salad and I the heirloom tomato salad. Both featured wonderful produce. I ordered the beef wellington (deconstructed so meat not wrapped in pastry but served atop it). This main was enough for two meals for me and featured mushrooms from the nearby Mariposa area. My husband enjoyed the Maine lobster ravioli. The service as friendly and attentive but not overbearing.
We had the wine pairing dinner, it was Excellent! Presentation, taste and creativity, especially with the gold flecked boysenberries with the Elderberry Sparkling wine, that made my birthday dinner extra special. Our servers were outstanding! Can't say enough good things about our experience at Erna's Elderberry House. It was much appreciated during this strange time we're living in right now and provided a much needed escape from the outside world.

Lovely 4th of July celebration made extra special by Erna’s Elderberry House. If you haven’t been, you must. It’s a splurge but worth every penny.
We were seated outside in the sun which made for an uncomfortable situation. We rushed through our meal with new courses arriving before the last course was finished. We have been there many times before and always had a great time. This trip was not up to Erna’ s standard.
Lovely experience. So glad we went. Outdoor dining was just as eloquent as indoors would have been. Worth the money and the drive!
Go to place for fine dining in the Central Valley. My wife and I have eaten at various Michelin star restaurants throughout the world and this is on par if not better than most. Consistent as always. Great service. Dining here is always an elegant affair.
This restaurant is dedicated to creating the ultimate dining experience. We saw great attention to detail in everything, starting with the elegant décor - European antiques, paintings, tapestries, etc. Attention to detail with the personalized menu as well, wishing us a happy birthday. We had the 5 course dinner with wine pairing. Each course/wine was a show stopper. I typically do not eat lamb, but I had a hunch that whatever Chef Rob Snyder created would be pretty good. The herb encrusted rack of lamb was perfection. Sommelier Brandon Weseman was very knowledgeable and was spot on with this selections. We also had pleasant conversations with him throughout the night. We had the best service - ending with with our server waiting with an umbrella for us to use for our walk back to the Chateau (du Sureau - do not miss this stay either). A most memorable dining event.
The small plate presentation was amazing! Well arranged and balanced.
The setting was wonderful and the service of the entire staff (especially Erika our server) was top notch. A definite treat
If you are anywhere near the area, the Elderberry House is a must for your special event! We celebrated a belated Valentine's Day with another couple. Our food was extraordinary, as was our waiter, Eric! It was an unbelievably pleasant experience that we hope to repeat in the near future.
Had an amazing Valentine’s Day brunch here! Highly recommend.
I wanted to like Erna’s Elderberry House; I really, really did. No stranger to fine dining, my partner and I have eaten at some great restaurants, including 2 and 3 Michelin-Star restaurants around the globe. I say this, not to be boastful, but to showcase that we are familiar with fine dining. However, this time, it was just not to be.
We were so excited by the rating, the reviews, and what was certain to come from such a well-respected establishment. We even came early to enjoy a drink at the bar (which, I will admit, had a great cellar atmosphere). Unfortunately, the old world style of the bar is where my positive experience ended.
Here’s the thing: there are so many things that just missed the mark with the Elderberry House. From the strange service experience (we must have had small, half-hearted interactions with over 6 of the wait staff — all declaring that we should “let them know if we need anything,” only to promptly disappear and not see them again), to the incredibly underwhelming tasting menu (the 4th dish was so lacking in creativity, taste, and quality, that I couldn’t believe it was really our dish), everything fell short.
This is all not to mention the most disappointing thing of all: I just don’t feel as though we were treated as equals. Albeit we were noticeably far younger than most of the other people in the restaurant (we’re both in our mid-20s, but look quite young), we were often overlooked or seemingly taken less seriously. At the end of the day, we were paying the same money for the same tasting menu and a nice bottle of wine.
All in all, I just wouldn’t suggest that the evening was even close to the nearly $600-for-two tab that it ended up costing. It was a real shame.
