Lovely French chateau appearance. 7 (actually 9) courses, one just as delightful as the next. Wine pairings were great. Favorite courses were trout, scallops and lamb.
It was a wonderful evening in a fantastic restaurant. Would go there any time again.
Seven course meal with wine pairing absolutely exceeded my expectations. We recently had dinner in San Francisco at a Michelin star restaurant and this was even better. Excellent job with the wine pairings. Eric was a perfect waiter. Beautiful property as well. We will return.
We loved our experience. The atmosphere and service is always top notch there. Our favorite parts of the meal were the fish course of trout, the smoked parsnip soup and the honey strawberry torte and semi-fredo dessert. The tuna tartare amuse bouche was delightful. The 7 courses fit together nicely but we were a little disappointed that the main course was a chicken roulade which was just ok. The tortellini appetizer was a little under cooked. If we had a choice of beef or something more special like duck on the main entree I would have been happier. But we will go back and we recommend it for everyone.
The most awesome food. highly recommend. This chef is amazing.
It was a lovely evening! Great presentation and quality of food and friendly service. Great for a special occasion!
An Amazing Night! Everything there is 5 star!! Highly recommend if in Oakhurst!!!
Wonderful food with an unforgettable service!!! Highly recommend!!!
A fine-dining experience! Fantastic food and service!
Great location. Staff was delightful. Food was excellent.
Five course brunch was a lovely special occasion food experience. Exceptional service. Grounds are lovely so spend a little extra time wondering around. We came early to do that.M
Exquisite food served beautifully. This really is a very extraordinarily special experience
Phenomenal food, top shelf service and amazing ambiance. This was one of the finest meals and dining experiences that we’ve ever had. Period. If one is looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, this is it! We will be back.
Both food and service were excellent. The combinations of flavors, particularly with the bison, were creative and well executed. The "by the glass" wines were very good and quite reasonable. It's pleasure to have dinner in a restaurant where the background music is just that; the restaurant has a quiet and relaxing ambiance where we could really enjoy the food. If we are ever in Oakhurst, we will make a point of visiting Erna's again.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there and it was our first having dinner at Erna’s.
I was super excited and have been reading up on it and seeing pictures so it was a pretty big deal. I hate to admit it but I didn’t realize it was a European style “tasting menu”.. everything on the menu is a step by step course so it’s not like you can pick and choose. It wasn’t very crowded but I was hoping to be in that really cool area with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows but we were at a nice table nonetheless. It was a big drab and outdated in that area for what I expected to be honest but still pretty and welcoming. Lots of attention and wait staff is very nice.
The food was interesting! And I mean that in a good way. However it’s extremely expensive and it’s a set price so once you realize there’s no modifications and you know your gonna spend $150 + (more if you do the wine pairing) each, then perhaps it would be a great place to check out. Add $40 to cork your own bottle plus a hefty tip and, well... now you know!
Scenery there in oakhurst is really pretty and so it was a nice break from town. All in all I’m happy we tried it, but unless I win the jackpot at chukchansi I don’t think I’ll be returning for a long time.
Consistent amazing relaxing intriguing fulfilling memorable.... Yes
Everything I expected and more. Food just fantastic, great chef and dining room staff excellent!! If you want to feel special and being taking care of Erna’s Elderberry House is the place to be!!
Very good service! Good ambiance with good food!!
We had a lovely tea service celebrating our daughters 17th birthday.
Just go, whatever the chef is cooking, you know it’s going to be good. I haven’t had Lamb in 30 years, and didn’t know if I would like it, it was cooked to perfection. Sorry to see Erna isn’t there, but still a great place!
My wife and I were engaged here 22 years ago. This was our first time back since then and it was as memorable as our first time here. The staff and food were excellent and we were made to feel very special.
Great food great environment would love to go back
We have dined there twice before but not for about ten years; both experiences were marvelous. The entire complex (including hotel) has since changed hands but is essentially unchanged from years past (thank goodness for that!).
Upsides: Vary inventive combinations, execution, and presentation. Great visual and gustatory appeal. Nicely appointed and quiet restaurant, even with a number of other occupied tables close by (a quiet restaurant is a rarity, at least in California). An excellent Negroni. (There is a bar that I did not visit; it appears that one can order some "bar food" that is not found in the restaurant proper, or so the rumor has it.)
Downsides--I hesitate to mention these, but I must be honest. (2) While the food was very, very good, we were disappointed that the restaurant now offers ONLY the chef's tasting menu (at least, it was so just this past Tuesday and Wednesday; could it be different on the weekends?). Although the various items are very well conceived, prepared, and presented, we felt that the very limited offering (that is, ONLY the tasting menu) might put some people off. Indeed, I might base my future decisions about staying overnight and dining on that fact alone. It's a toss-up.
(2) Service: Generally quite good but there is a tendency for the servers to say too much. There were about twenty "pardon my reach" requests over the evening--that gets old after one instance. Also, one gentleman said virtually everything twice, in rapid succession. Not offensive, but a little odd.
(3) We opted for a single glass of wine each--with the small portions of the tasting menu, no more was needed. The glasses were reasonably generous--I have paid more for less--but $20 for a glass of a California cab is a little steep, even in the best of places.
That said, we really did enjoy ourselves. If they can alter the menu to do something in addition to the tidbits, we'll definitely return.
El precio está extremadamente elevado para los platos que son
The service was excellent and we had been called by phone to know if it was a special event or we had any foos allergy.
We were not informed about the 7 courses fixed menu as the only available option of the restaurant and I believe this was not fair at all.
The location is superb but the food was Not always corresponding to our taste.
The cost was also over the quality of the food we got.
A wonderful 7 course meal. Meals are pre fix but additional wine pairing, cheese course, or caviar can be added.
High end establishment. Exquisite food and impeccable service. It's a fixed menu but the wine pairings are fabulous
There are many reasons why we keep coming back. The staff is not only welcoming and energetic but, also courteous and well versed in wines and their food pairings. For food allergy stricken people, the chef is quick to decide what is best. Our meal was fabulous this last time - I can honestly say that I've never had a tastier Beef Wellington ever.
We have nothing but good and fond memories that we will continue to share with them each visit. The Chateau is also a very pleasant place to stay...a stones throw away from home but, a feeling as if we traveled for days to get there. Very warm and secluded.
We shall see you very soon...
It’s pricey and you have no choice on what you order. Would be nice to have some choices when you spend this much money. Service was Outstanding!!!
Erna’s Elderberry House is one of my favorite gems in the Fresno/Yosemite area. It’s difficult to find an establishment of this caliber, even in the Bay Area. The staff at Erna’s is well trained and definitely go above and beyond to ensure their guests are satisfied. If you have time before or after your meal be sure to stop by their bar. The bartender makes excellent craft cocktails!
Wonderful ambiance and delicious food. Chef is very accommodating ( 7 course dinner with ability to switch out a course for something else if dietary restrictions or preferences) . Wine pairings are worth it ! Dessert in the garden is delightful if weather permits. Would highly recommend.
Had an absolutely amazing experience at Sunday Tea. The service was spot on and all of the food was amazing. Such a beautiful, elegant presentation. Will definitely be going again.
You are in for an extraordinary adventure of dining at Erna's. Impeccable service and food. You are transported to somewhere in Europe and not believe while there that you are in Oakhurst. Be sure to enjoy the patio for your dessert!
A friend raved about Elderberry house a couple of years ago so when my wife surprised me with a Yosemite trip and dinner at the Elderberry House I was excited.
I was not disappointed, great place, fantastic food, great wine list, good service; all in Oakhurst of all places. They have a fixed seasonal menu so check it before you go.
everything we had was prepared to perfection. Go here, you won't regret it.
Service was great. Food tasted good. Protein portions were too small with one scallop and one oz (1 piece) of bison steak for the entire evening. I was thankful there was other things to fill up. Otherwise I’d have left the two-hour, 7-course meal hungry.
We dined at Erna’s on July 4th. Originally a normal sit down dinner reservation, it was converted by Erna’s to a special outdoor BBQ for the holiday. The food was a buffet style, unlike their usual menu. We were disappointed with the chicken, steak and sides. Not their usual performance. Certainly more difficult to deliver fresh, hot and tasty in a buffet setting.
The service was as impeccable as always. So attentive and personal. The outdoor BBQ dining was festive and bright, quite different from their typical dining room.
Hard to know how readers should interpret this review since the July 4th meal is not their usual.
You don’t need a special occasion... it makes the special occasion. A Pre-determined 7 course meal, personalized menu, reminiscent to me of the great Little Inn at Washington in the opposite coast - except this was in the setting of a Classic Chateau which is also exhibited in the course sequence. The food was outstanding... the service one of the best I’ve had - very professional but if you engage them, they are friendly and of good humor. And the ambiance and surroundings of that n a French dream.
Great service, course and venue. If 5-dish prefix is available, probably better for us but we could easily finish 7-dish prefix. Thank you!
One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever been to. Service impeccable and food beyond excellent. One of the best lamb dishes I’ve ever had.
