The place is small (only 11 tables), cozy, very quiet, and has a very warm feeling. A great place for a first date or a romantic date with your partner. I highly recommend it.
I was so impressed with the charm and intimacy of this restaurant. Its very rare that you find restaurants that can provide, comfort, great food, service like Erminia. only 11, maybe 12 tables in the whole place, they make you feel like you are the only ones in the place.
The food was outstanding. They are not in to over serving you, big portions of tasteless food. Erminia gives you the appropriate portions, with an abundance of flavor and love put in to each dish, from appetizer, to dessert. You honestly feel, like you are a guest in their home!
Wonderful, classy place to bring your date, significant other, and family too!
Thank you Erminia, we’ll be back, very soon!
Loved it! Lovely host/wait staff. Terrific food. We will be back.
This place is in our neighborhood, just a few streets away. We'd always meant to try it. Super glad we did. The food was spectacular and the setting even more so. It's easy to see why it is regarded among the most romantic restaurants in the City. And some of the best Italian food we've had outside of Italy. Perhaps, dare I say, even better.
We are in love with this restaurant! It brings us back to Italy every time.
Our first visit and it certainly will not be our last. Absolutely terrific. Wonderful setting, delicious food and outstanding/warm service
Charming, quaint, candle lit restaurant that gets it all right. It’s romantic with attentive, friendly servers and for a few hours I felt like I was in the Tuscan countryside. The atmosphere and food are fabulous and nothing disappointed. I can’t wait to return. A true gem!
Very romantic spot.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant. Great food, cozy ambiance with excellent service!!!
It was my boyfriends birthday. The Foods was good! Wine was good and the service was good
Our second time visiting and meal was just as spectacular as the first. Wanted a simpler pasta (carbonara) to start as the primi but not on the menu. They prepared it no problem an it was FANTASTIC! ordered 2 additional entrees from the nightly specials, Scallop risotto and a pork milanaise, both also wonderful. Wine was reasonable and paired perfectly and service was attentative, friendly, thoughtful and informative. really went out of their way to make the evening special.
I would recommend to anyone who wants a memorable, romantic, tasteful, authentic evening and is seeking culinary perfection at a respectable price.
simply lovely experience. We'll be back
There is always a reason why a restaurant is successful for over 25 years.
The menu is full of great choices, the service is welcoming and everything the serve is to perfection.
quaint small restaurant with reliable food and service
Long one of our favorite restaurants, Erminia disappointed us on a freezing evening last weekend by trying to deny us entrance at 5:20 PM because they “didn’t open until 5:30.” They publicly advertise their hours as starting at 5:00 PM, but that’s beside the point. We were not invited to sit down, so we remained inside standing while the next couple went back out into the freezing cold. Within less than 10 minutes, however, the manager had to give in and fill up 60% of the tables with customers before the 5:30 “opening time.” And although we were the very first customers to arrive that evening, he refused to seat us at our preferred table because he said someone else would want it. Well, next time we’ll reserve our preferred table in advance and won’t arrive so early—but only if there IS a “next time.” We’ll see.
Good experience. The food is not sophisticated but quite reasonable. The ambiance is very pleasant.
Always a favorite for me for over 10 years; however, it was a let-down to have the calamari presented chopped and on a salad vs. the tube of calamari & then served with pesto on a piece of bread. I was looking forward to the calamari and when the dish arrived ... it was a disappointment, the only disappointment. Food and service are memorable and AAAA.
I love this restaurant. The food, the service and ambiance are fantastic. It is candlelit and very romantic as well as quiet. No screaming necessary to hold a conversation. It's my local go to restaurant.
Been coming here for 20yrs. The food and service are always outstanding and the ambiance is one of the most intimate, romantic in NYC.
Wonderful atmosphere with food to match.
Great for a special occasion; very intimate setting and beautiful ambiance. Great service.
Great place. The staff here is always so kind. My girlfriend and I come here from time to time as it's right by our apt. Highly recommend for a date spot or just a nice dinner where there's not blaring noise like most of NYC places. The food and wine is great. You want extra parm cheese on your pasta? The guy will scrape it off the block as long as you want :)
Gentlemen out there, if you're searching for a V-day reservation (it comes sooner than you think!) - this is definitely a solid pick.
My brother John, who frequents NYC, put me on this restaurant & I dined there last fri night, 1/11/19.
He remembered how great the tiramisu was from 15 years ago! Just like the reviews say: It is truly the most romantic restaurant I’ve ever been too! Small, dark & cozy (only 12 tables!) with a flower & tapered candle on each table! When was the last time you saw a single tall white tapered candle flickering on tables at a restaurant? The service was friendly & attentive from the minute you walked in the door until you left! Food was amazing, as we shared the Fettuccini Fatte in Casa alla Bolognese & the Filet of Sole & of course the Tiramisu! Would go back in a New York minuet!!
We were all very disappointed with the food. The crab cakes special were mostly potato. The chicken and sausage had very little flavor. The shrimp scampi had almost no sauce (where was the scampi?) and came only some greens and mushrooms. The plate looked half empty. We have had good meals here in the past, but this was just too mediocre for the price or any price. There are too many restaurants in NYC to waste money here. The pleasant service and did not make up for a lackluster meal.
Food and wine was amazing. Staff was incredibly hospitable and friendly. Will be returning!
Delicious food in a cosy setting with exceptional service tucked away on E 83rd St!
Erminia is a lovely, romantic, cozy restaurant with delicious food and great service. It is our favorite restaurant for Northern Italian cuisine.
Made me feel like I’ve been dining with them forever
We were very excited to go to Erminia on New Years Eve. It was a massive disappointment. Starting with the staff who were not at all friendly or festive, the food was rushed to the table, clearly pre cooked, and so ordinary at the very best. For the cost of the dinner (and I understand NYE can be a dumb rip off) I would have expected a little flair of some sort, ie a free glass of champagne, an amuse bouche, a plate of cookies. Only poor food and "would you like pepper."
Staying home in the future.
Super tolles Restaurant mit legga Essen und großartigen Service
My favorite restaurant in NYC!
Food is always good, staff is great.
If I really say how it is, too many people will come and I’ll never get a table. So let’s just say, perfect for us.
Absolutely amazing thank you!
The food was delicious. I loved the no cell phone policy. Very quaint; I think there were only about 10 tables. The staff was very welcoming and friendly.
Would recommend Erminia restaurant, the food is great, cozy and the service is great, thanks I really enjoy dining there with my family, it was a very delitfull and pleacent evening, I rated 4 ⭐️ 👍
Food, service and ambiance were all perfect!
Absolutely charming place but an uninspiring menu only adequately prepared. A bit on the crowded side.
It was the best
We were running very late from a show
We called and they were so gracious
We can’t wait to go back
This place was right out of a movie; certainly a dining experience for the books. A smaller restaurant in size, however the ambiance was wonderful and very romantic - low lighting and a candle lit at every table. The Maître d' and the rest of the staff provided excellent service, and I very much appreciated the authentic Italian cuisine. For dinner I had the pasta special, a spaghetti dish with lobster and jumbo shrimp, and my girlfriend had lamb-chops, which we both thought were terrific. The creme brulee dessert was delicious as well. I definitely plan on venturing back there again. Grazie per tutti.
Amazing night overall!!!
