Nice place, enjoyed a night with my wife when we were in Memphis for along weekend. It was a Sunday night so maybe the normal chef was not in. We always share an appetizer, entrée and dessert and they were very kind and split the dishes into two. We had the crawfish bisque, pan fried quail, halibut and raspberry soufflé. The bisque was very thick - like it had been in a warmer too long. The quail was cooked perfectly but the foundation of cheesy grits was pasty, also like it had been in a warmer too long, and overall the dish was dry. The halibut was wonderful and the soufflé was to die for. When we eat out, its usually at high quality and high priced establishments. We also love to cook at home , are not professionals, but pretty good, so our expectations are high. Overall our expectations were not met.

Special Note - the same day I wrote this review, Erling Jensen called me personally. This is much appreciated and demonstrates his commitment to excellent customer service. We hope to be back in Memphis soon and will certainly revisit his restaurant.

The food was exceptional as was the service. There were so many choices that it was difficult to decide. I recommend the Sunday special. The chocolate soufflé is amazing. Order it early.

This place is awesome. Great menu. Always great food. I travel the US weekly and this rivals the best in NYC and LA. Seriously. A top for Memphis!

Best steak to date. Everything from the service to the presentation of the courses was outstanding. By far, EJ’s is a top-notch dining establishment.

Incredible from start to finish. The food was exotic and wonderfully delicious. The staff was lovable and a delight. Prices were fair for such extraordinary dishes. Fantastic place for a romantic date.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Valentine's meal here. The dishes were extravagant and tasty. The service was very attentive, helpful, and personable. Perhaps the tables could have been spaced out more, and the walls seemed a little bland, but there was some nice artwork to accent the place. Overall, a fantastic experience that we would love to enjoy again.

We had a terrific time as usual at Erling's. They had a special menu prepared for V-day, my wife had the Elk and I had the braised short ribs with Waygu beef. We were both were very pleased.

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this restaurant. It was quiet and subdued. We had the Valentine's Day menu which was limited but very well put-together. The bisque was delicious as well as the elk chops.

I love EJ. One of my favorites but not so much on Valentine's day. Wife grouper was over cooked and fishy. Much more rushed than usual. They often will have five course meals with wine samples for around$75. This was$95 and three courses and no wine. Short ribs were good but not wonderful. I usually feel like I "got my monies worth" but certainly not that night. I'll be back. Just wasn't a good experience and the over pricing didn't help.

We went for Valentines dinner only to find price fixed with no regular menu items available. Disappointing as we love some of their regular menu items. The items available were OK.

Amazing experience! The blueberry cobbler is by far the absolute best dessert I have ever eaten. Even though it is not in season, the pastry chef made it for us for a 50th birthday celebration.

Outstanding food and service. I had the special which was an antelope tenderloin, and my wife had a filet. Both were delicious.

The food and service was excellent. I love the unique menu they offer. I had a bison strip and was a very generous portion with a great flavor. My wife had the halibut and it was perfect. The server was attentive but not overbearing. He actually heard my wife’s order incorrectly. No excuses, he offered an apology and brought out the right order. The ambience is okay. I think they should dim the lighting a bit and have more comfortable seating. However, that won’t stop us from gong back.

Food not prepared as ordered. Both red meat entrees ordered medium but came out rare. Red COLD center. Barely seared. Sent back and was returned medium rare. Red hot center. Barely ate any. Owner came out and asked if it was ok but saw that we didn't eat it. Was given a desert as compensation. Have been numerous times. Very disappointed.

Erling never disappoints. From the moment he greeted us at the door, until the staff bid us farewell, everything was superb. We asked for and were taken to a quiet table in the back of the restaurant. The service was helpful and attentive. Delicious crab was featured with many of the dishes. The red fish and Dover sole were particularly good as was the blonde brownie dessert.
